Oshola was blunt! To me! Though she has won awards, Oparanozie, Onumonu , Kanu , Maclean and Monday are better than her!
Though Ethiopia has improved well but not well enough for us to have such a poor score with them!
I have been to Addis Ababa and know the weather is unfriendly and fierce but the team needs to know the very prime purpose to get to Paris 2024!
Yet that second goal was denied I know what happened to Algeria after our loss 2007 on artificial turf in Algeria got ‘ bong ‘ 6 nil in Nigeria!
    Super Falcons! Revamp oh!

When I was saying Oshoala is not that good upfront, people were coming for my head. Maybe she used to be good 4-7 years ago, but not anymore. I watched her matches, playing for Barcelona, and most of her goals were tap-ins. Even with that, she misses a lot of scoring chances. I argued before the World Cup that if Nigeria depends on Oshoala to score, NIgeria is not going to score a lot of goals. People came for my head. I said she is not clinical upfront. What happened? Nigeria scored only 3 goals in 4 matches. All goals in one match. Look at the 2 glaring chances she missed against Ireland. The goal she scored against Australia was a defensive error, had the defender not headed backwards, she would not have scored at all.
It’s high time, the Super Falcons move on from her. She’s not that good anymore. I have been saying this for about a year. I don’t understand why Nigeria keeps on inviting players that obviously are regressing in their careers - just like Ahmed musa. There are new young exciting players coming up, give them a chance.

Considering that the team had only 1 full training session and also had just 2 days in a high-altitude city like Addis Ababa (compared to the Ethiopians who are mostly based locally and in other East African countries, and are very well used to these conditions) I'll gladly take this 1-1 result. The return leg is next Tuesday, and by then, the Falcons would have had more training sessions and better coordination. But I still feel like our local coaches are not up to scratch. I still believe we'll beat Ethiopia and move on to the next round, but after that, the NFF MUST resolve Randy Waldrum's contract issues and have him on board during the next round.
However, Oshoala MUST NOT start the return leg. She should be brought into the game later, like she was during the WWC. Also, one of Gift Monday and Uchenna Kanu must be benched. Imuran must start. Ajakaye's pace really hurt the Ethiopians, so I prefer her to start ahead of Monday or Kanu (or even Oshoala herself). Good luck to them on Tuesday.

Sometimes, I don't understand how some of you that said you are into football or football blog don't know the simple rule of the game. No offside if that ball is in the air. Provided the player was onside when the ball was kicked. And in this case, the ball is in the air when Ajakaye seems to be offside, and the Ethiopian player headed it to Onumonu. There is nothing like offside in this goal.

I think Falcons did very well. Playing in East Africa is not physiologically favourable to Nigerians, due to the higher slopes of their geography there, the lungs of people not used to that area will struggle more to adapt to the breathing requirements especially when doing sports as opposed to them that are used to the area.

Playing as a striker for Barcelona women is not the same as playing for Super Falcons. Barcelona women have the style, technical and tactical ability to not just create chances, but also often put them on a plater for their strikers. That fluidity and chance creation is few and far between at Super Falcons. Which is why Oshoala thrives there but struggles with Nigeria.

Oshoala is dangerous in certain situations. Her performance really depends on the defensive shape of the opponent. She reminds me of Rashidi Yekini. She is good at running against the defense. She is also a good passer in transition. However, she tends to be one-footed and isn't that good in the air. She packs a decent shot, but the majority of her goals have come from tap-in goals. If I were playing her, I would experiment with her on the left wing, just like they play Chukwueze, who is a lefty on the right wing. This is because she shoots with the inside of her foot. She missed two goals in a row at the World Cup owing to that. If she could hit the ball with her laces (called instep) or with the outside of her foot, she would be lethal. She can still improve. She is still young. However, I don't think she should be starting anymore. They should give other players the opportunity to show what they can do. If she reclaims the kind of form to deserve a start, she can always regain her starting position.

Lets call a spade a spade. Enough of excuses. Super Falcons did not play well and the technical crew were incompetent and clueless. No way this team will go to the womens football Olympics - if we don't use the right players. We had the opportunity to have gone three goals up but we fluffed it. However, if we had played Ghana, Zambia, South Africa (womens team) - there would have been no way back for us. The truth is that Ethopian womens team have the potential in the scond leg to knock Super Falcons out of the Womens olympic football qualifiers.
