The soft bottom cabinets are genius. I also strongly approve of the amount of space not given to a TV.
Thank you. We do watch some things on the tablet at night. It’s plenty for us.
That man is incredibly talented, the wife’s fabric skills are amazing too! Well done
Thank you
This guy is a genius and a craftsman. Bravo beautiful creation and work.
Thank you
I really enjoyed this tour. The repurposed wood, antique inspiration and overall design is fabulous. Thanks for sharing Patrick.
James is a talented and humble man, and this is a beautiful build. So many subtly genius amenities - like the infotainment system! If I didn't own a van, I'd be looking to buy this one! Bravo and safe travels wherever your adventures may take you ✈🛶🛥🚐🚝🌍🙂
Thanks! That’s really nice😁
I really enjoyed this tour. I actually loved the infotainment system idea. Most time is spent out of the van anyway. It’s versatile and simple!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. We gat a lot of use out of the "infotainment" system.
$70,000 sounds about right. Beautiful work!
Not too bad!
The woodwork and put together so beautifully done.
Thank you
wonderful build. The man is not only super talented but he is just such a nice, kind caring person
Thank you
Thank you
Just Incredible! And he sounds like the sweetest man! Every woman would be lucky to have such a caring partner!! 🥰🥰🥰
You are so kind
That’s a very nice thing to say. I’m not sure my wife would always agree. Hopefully enough of the time.
Sweet! Beautiful home, thank you, and happy adventures !@joycelynch9783
I enjoyed your video very much. The craftsmanship is excellent.
Thank you very much!
Love the beautiful woods in your van and the old train or boat look to it. That “infotainment iPad” use was super smart. Nice little van and some great ideas. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you
I have watched TONS, of videos of van conversions. THIS has got to be one of these MOST beautiful and functional, homes, I've seen...Well done...
I would. NEED MORE electric tho....☮️❤️🌱
Thank you. We just use the lights, fan, fridge and charge our phones and tablets. We left space for more batteries and made sure that our dc to dc charger has inputs for solar. So far we haven't needed more but we do drive almost every day so the battery gets topped up.
The curated details are over the top impressive. I adore this custom may I say "designer" build. Well done.
Thank you
Absolutely Brilliant. Such a smart purpose build. I absolutely love the right amount of wood and fabric. It's still very roomy. Amazing!
Thank you
Very lovely! Beautiful wood work. I too like the open shelving above. His presentation was excellent. Great voice too!🌺
Thank you
Nice video Patrick - good build!
Thanks 👍
Really nice quality work too... thanks
Thanks 😁
just the kind of build i was looking to do. gonna copy many of his ideas. thanks.
I’m glad we could help with ideas for your build. We truly enjoyed and appreciated all the videos on Patrick’s channel that helped with ideas for iVan 😁🤗
This a good work for a very nice result. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
So beautifully built🥰
Thanks😁
Oh Gods this is a beautiful build!! I've been trying to get my parents to understand the attraction to Tiny and/or Nomadic Living; they are still of the idea that ppl who live in vehicles do so because they have no other option. I want to show my parents this build because this is something they could definitely see themselves using.
Nicely done 😊
James, you are so easy and pleasant to listen to! thanks for all the clever ideas. It's a great van design! Cheers from Waiheke Island, New Zealand
Nice, thanks 😁
Beautiful and it’s Mercedes not cheap but it’s ready to go and it’s a Mercedes Benz that’s luxury. Love it
Thank you
Great build and beautiful woodwork.
I'm stealing your chase lounge/ seat !
Go for it!
My chase lounge/seat is one of my favorite things! I love that hubby James made my seat back duel use. And finding the faux sheep wool fabric for the cover was too much fun😜
@@joycelynch4279 I will save this and ad pic when I do it! It's awesome
Also cool that they can be flexible, and he can put his wood in there or kyacks
Beautiful wood work. Great job you two! Love all the mahagony as I have a lot in mine as well. FANTASTIC 👏🏻
Thank you very much!
Thanks! We call it Marty Wood as it was our brother in law Marty who hooked us up with the wood about 20 years ago!
Great van. Perfect travel or daily driver. Beautiful woodworking. Well thought out design. Clever toilet area.
Thanks 🙂
Hello Patrick
Nice Build ..
Love the simplicity of the info_ tanement. Lol love that the seating on fridge can sit either way..too cool! I was surprised about those tiny poles to hold the endxofcthe bed up.
Wow! Such detail!!! Like the angled puck lights. Things most of us don't think of til after the fact. Amazing!!
Thanks! It comes with camping for a really long time in other campers and learning what works😁
Wow what an incredible build!
Thanks
Wow! LOVE THIS! I could totally see myself whizzing around in this.
You can do it!
It’s still for sale if you’re interested😁
We have it listed on Marketplace
Hi Kyle, it’s still for sale and listed on Marketplace if you’re interested 😁
Wow... Love this particular build. Beautiful ❣️
Thank you! 🤗
Thanks, we put A LOT of thought into it. A lot of Chinese buffets were eaten with lots of diagrams and sketches drawn😜
He is a genius.
Thanks! I love that hubby James always comes up with great ideas for our projects. He’s been in the trades since he was 17, so lots of experience with problem solving. We knew we wanted the short wheel base, but I still wanted all the comforts. And he did that for me😁🤗
This is a first class build, loving the boating aesthetic and attention to color and detail is perfect! Very talented couple!
Thanks so much!
Thank you
That was a smart build ❤
Agreed 👍
Thanks! We spent a lot of time in our favorite Chinese buffet with a pad and pencil and going over ideas😜
Love this build and he just seems like such a kind man!
Such a great couple
He truly is 😁🥰
This thing looks brand new too. Crazy to think theyve even gone anywhere in it it is spotless
They cherish this
Thank you
Amazing work. Love the wood 🫶🏻
Thank you! 😁
Beautiful wood and carpentry. Great frig and lounger!
Thanks. We do like that fridge.
Wow beautiful build and excellent craftsmanship! Experience makes the difference 👍
Couldn't agree more!
Thank you
Excellent James, nice video! Hope you all the best in selling it.
Fingers crossed!
Yes, fingers crossed someone will enjoy it as much as we have 😁🤞
This is a very thoughtful build, more like a land yacht. I was particularly interested in the structure of the bed because of the thinness.
Thank you. We wanted full height counters and as much head room as possible over the bed so keeping it thinner was important.
Patrick....! This is a good one, looks like my kind of work and smartly thought out
Maaaaan this van is so beautiful! At first, i was like “oh it’s nice and simple.” And it kinda is but when he showed the wood my jaw dropped. So beautiful. And the headache-proof overhead cubbies are so genius. This guy and his wife make a great team!
Thanks so much
Excellent
Wow!!! your woodworking is magnificent. And I love how you designed your camper. Great job.❤
Thanks 😁
Great setup
Thanks
Thank you
I too am a woodworker but I doubt I could match the craftsmanship displayed in this van. Great work.
Great 👍
I’m sure you would do fine, give it a go!
Very good video 👍! Expensive on the outside, cozy and thrifty on the inside. Whoever buys this one will be very happy with it for sure👌.
Well said!
Thanks! I hope someone will enjoy and appreciate it as much as we have🤞
Very Very nice 👌
Thanks a lot 😊
GORGEOUS ❤
Yes 🙌
Thanks😁
Beautiful!!!!
Thank you
Very wonderful built. He thougjt of everything.
Thanks! We have been camping since the 80’s together. From tents to pop up’s to hard sides. So we needed to give a lot of thought into iVan as we specifically wanted the short wheel base to get into the areas we enjoy exploring. With James’s wonderful building skills, I am able to have a very comfy, cozy, workable travel van😁🤗
Great woodworking job, I like the pivoting backrest concept. My only concern is that a part of the matress is laying directly on the propane stove top.
It’s where my feet might be, but I’m 5’4” and sleep in a fetal position mostly, so it’s really just the mattress corner that sits there.
This is why I like DIY conversion vans. When it's d, I, y, it's an individual done. In other words, when this peak couple make this Van, no one else has this design. This is why I love DIY VS manufactured my manufactured. Everybody has the same vehicle boring very boring so d. I. Y is the best way because it's individually made to someone else's special vacation. What? I have on my campaign old temperature loops. I built myself. No one in the world has it and that's the point.
Beautiful
Thanks
Thanks
So beautiful 😻
You are so kind
It’s hard to sell something that you put so much time, work, and love into and I’m sure memories. Enjoy your over sea’s trips!
So true!
Thank you.
They’ve built a van version of a Pullman train car and that’s a good thing.
Thank you
very very nice van
Thank you 😁
Swivel seats are NOT basic but a great luxury for those who can afford it, especially “live-aboards. “
You’re right they are a luxury and add a lot of useable space.
Nice!
Thanks
Shame you are selling - looks so cosy and well thought through. Whoever buys it from you - will surely enjoy it! Go Well.
Thanks! iVan has been a fun build and we truly enjoy the time we are spending exploring the east coast with him.
I was trying to figure out how to secure my iceco fridge just like his, I like how he used straps attached to a base
It’s makes it quick and easy to put in and out when we need the extra floor space 🙂
I am a Pro Master fan and a break down bed and also like the kitchen on opposite side. But this is good second. I would give up the lounge to make a shower and put the frig in area where he slid the toilet! But I could live with this, with a shower!
It’s funny, when we did a shell off restoration of our 1959 Airstream we dedicated a space for a shower. The composting toilet lives in the shower as well, but is removed during shower times. We find that we like staying in state and national parks, so the shower in the Airstream was hardly ever used. In building iVan, we can hook up a shower nozzle to the faucet and set up a “doggy pool” in front of the sink area. But again, with us staying in state and national parks - so far we have found the their shower facilities nice and more convenient than setting up inside iVan.
It’s all in how you intend on how and where you spend your time 😊
This is exactly why I love DIY why I tell people to buy a used Van and build it at yourself. It's unique because only you have this style like this guy. In the video only he has that style. If this was a manufactured c***** Van $400000 $10000. People will buy the same exact band I don't like that so I don't respect manufacturers or corporation.
This van is beautiful. Regarding the window back by the bed on the drivers side. Do you remember what brand it is, or where you got it? We built a teardrop trailer, and that type of window would be a nice upgrade. Thanks
That window is a Dometic we got off eBay. I belief Arctic Tern window also has something similar.
Great job!
One question: can you sit on your bed when in « sofa mode » or is it too high (with not enough head room)?
Great question
I’m 5’4” and Jams is 6’2” and we both sit easily on there😁
Needs some Buster and Punch light switches/knobs to complete the Orient Express look.
Have to look up those switches.
Great Job ! Can we hire you to do a conversion van for us ?
They’re selling this one. I’m moving on.
As Patrick said this van is for sale. We just build for ourselves sorry.
👍 15 : 00
Beautiful workmanship. Love the nautical theme. The only problem I see, besides no shower, is the time and difficulty in setting up the bed. I would prefer to have a stationary bed, so if you pull off the road, you can just lay down and rest without going to all that work...
Thanks for sharing based on your perspective
The bed is a trade off. We like a big comfortable bed and the extra open space we have when it’s closed so we are willing to take a few minutes to open and close it. When closed it’s still big enough for the two of us to have a comfortable nap so it kind of works both ways.
Do you make any for other people? Thanks for the tour.
We just build for ourselves😊
I used to write poems...I should write parodies but they might not be fit to read....lol
I like everything about this except bed. I wouldn't want to go thru all that to go to bed or to cook the next the next morning .
Okay 👍
I understand that. We found that in a van this size everything is a trade off. We like a nice big bed. We thought about putting in the bump outs but that still resulted in a smaller bed that still took up more room when not in bed form. It takes five minutes or less to do the bed so we made the choice.
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Man oh man, that van just needs a mast and sail! Yacht quality! I wonder if he is a woodworker? (JK:)
Thanks for the kind words, I feel very lucky to have my own personal carpenter 😁🤗🥰
@@joycelynch4279 you are blessed indeed✨
Now you're talking about d*** time. You've got a DIY person. These are the people. I respect people that can build their own like myself. These are DIY because DIY rocks. This is it not manufactured with cheap material just to make you vehicle light solid real material? Yes, your vehicle, I'll be little heavier but it's solid and it won't tip over in the wind.
Why are you selling? Doing another?
No, just a number of international trips planned in the coming years. So iVan won’t see as much activity.
Beautiful aesthetically and practically. The ceiling and the woodwork are so beautiful.
Thank you. We do enjoy the ceiling.
I don't like the stove and bed over it , would have switched the sink and stove areas.
It’s tough to get in all the things you want. We really enjoy having an oven. Having the oven meant that the stove/oven could not go over the composting toilet and the toilet had to go where it is so it could slide out far enough. The corner of the mattress covering the stove at night has not proven to be any issue at all. Which is a relief!
I'm a fan of your channel 2 except not to manufactured real people that make their own. That's why like DIY people like myself? People take the initiative to make their own and save a ton of money to waste to buy a Van for $70000. We can easily get a good Van for $5000 and turn it into a $50000 Campavan.
You're really not supposed to run a propane oven like that with zero clearance on the sides and back.
Are these people full-time or are they part-time? Or they just weaken warriors or they're just using it for recreational use. What are they using it for?
We are just recreational and weekend warriors. We chose the smallest wheelbase to be able to fit in anywhere we like. And we kept it simple because it doesn’t need to be anything more. For It’s size, iVan is a very comfortable and user friendly van.😁
I've noticed that many people who did their 1st build on the 170 have switched to the 144 for their second build because of the maneuverability re parking and going over gullies off road.
Meticulous ‼️
So meal time you’re lounging while your wife cooks? 😢
I should have said that that’s while eating not during mela preparation!
Wo can’t believe I misspelled meal!
Absolutely gorgeous build .
Thank you 😁
