- In season one, we had one European based team that won, but with Korean players, and one team with European players that failed miserably to have any sort of success. European players were scattered throughout the league, but it was mostly dominated by Korea. The Spitfire were a good team for the region to root for, but a lot of fans wanted a team they could really get behind, and in season 2, that team would emerge. A team that promised these fans glory to their region, putting the hopes of an entire continent on their shoulders. This is the story, of the Paris Eternal.

You aren't using SDB for leadership. The man is notorious for not talking much. You use him for pop-off potential, but with Goats dominating that's not gonna happen.

I am a paris fan and these are my thoughts
-Finnsi is the most underrated player in whole of ow, just going to say it i mean the guy had it tough, he couldnt carry on Dva and he always needed to peel for supports, and paris scouts are pretty dumb, knowing they are going into a goats meta and they dont pick up a zarya player and just throw someone who is ready to sacrifice themselfs to do it, Soon was that stage 1 and Finnsi did that sometimes stage 2-3. Stage 4 Finnsi took his opprutunity and shined as roadhog but because paris got unlucky with meta we didnt have the players to play with him, (orisa and bap), and it is criminal that finnsi is not getting picked up for owl s3, jesus im disapointed
I always thought finnsi should have stayed as A hitscan and Zarya player, I think he never should have switched to dva, and if Paris were smart they could have used Finnsi as the zarya and Soon playing Sombra. But I mean it's Paris so i mean we can't expect anything

And i really am upset about that also Paris dropping the "eu last hope" after just one season is hurting me a bit.
I love eu it's certainly hasn't been a good showing in the owl.
My last hope for eu is the french team at the wc and also the netherlands i mean Leaf, Tek36, FDgod, Chubz, Hqrdest, Crusade, Vizilty really stand out to me in the wc i wasn't expecting them both to get out of groups but they did and France did while beating korea and UK which were for me two teams that were better than them
Netherlands manage to out do Russia and Canada to in the quaterfinals.
Eu is a great ow region but it really seems unlikely that we will ever see an all eu team in the owl again and really sad about that.
As far as I understand it is, that teams expect too much and then management decisions make the all EU team problematic, i.e. "Stage 1 we barely were average, we're a good team, gotta figure some- and our coach left." and the inability to find a good reliable starting lineup is an important thing. The most probable way to get a good OWL EU team is probably to just grab the best players from EU Contenders Finals and some good Coaches like Crusty and even then it might take a season or two.

Behind Paris, there's investors right? They are here for the project to pay off. It's quite logical. Apparently they seem to have chosen a hybrid team project for 2020. It's a good thing. I mean, why would you stick with people for when they come from if you want to have the better team possible. I still agree with you though, considering the European talents that shine during this world cup, you could make a full European team.
But, that's not the solution to me. The solution, is first to recruit European talents that deserve it, such as those you named, to prove European contenders players they have equal chances to join the League. That would motivate players, and show to some sceptical investors that they can trust in Europe.
So yeah, idc about an all European team, neither all French btw, although I'm really good at chauvinism (when he talk about European crowd but show image of France, as if every country was like that lul). We can still prove ourselves and be part of a winning owl team.

As a french PAris fan I would like to add some info:
-Paris had the lowest budget on the OWL last year wich explain their result
- I think you're a little harsh on BenBest he had probably one of the worst Zarya to back him up
- Schedule wasn't kind on them, they got the Justice in Stage 4, Outlaws in stage 3 at their peak... and a lot of relatively close loss(IMO)
- They were very bad at control maps so it hurt in 5th maps
-They were doing better in the beginning of the stage taking most of their win in the first two week so I don't think Roster change were a problem

Mattéo Bonhomme, they still went 11-17, teams such as Washington and Florida also had these conditions earlier on but managed to impress in stage 4

As a paris fan I’m more than a little sad. They were always close to being a decent team. Sometimes a zarya away, sometimes a main tank away. But no matter the results, I always rooted for them because they were actually european. Now they’re...well, at least they’re still mixed. But depending on how the starting 6 look, I’m not sure if this is still my team

I think the problem with the all european team was that they chose to have a good synergy from the start, with most of team France being on the 6 that started at first for Paris. They should just have have picked the best of Europe and let them develop their own synergy. I don't want to be an asshole but Benbest is not one of the best tank of Europe, and the fact that he is still here, and that his competition will be Nosmite is a bit worrying. MT is the role that needed improvement the most...
But to come back to all european team, I don't really mind they drop the idea. I just want to have some european (and some french of possible :) ) on the starting six. To me that should be the norm, at least 3 players from the region should start on all the team, for at least half the games in a stage.
And F for Finsi, who was, with Greyy, the most consistent player of the season. I don't know why he is leaving but I hope he'll have another shot.

A little info on daemon: some people (including me) are very upset about him ,because 1.he messed up 2018 World Cup with winz 2.he is not capable to manage player intern problem (he flew away mid season bc of this) 3.his girlfriend reported that in private he liked to trash talk a lot players and coaches but never step up to the trash talk .it seems that he just flew away every time it was beginning to get dirty

Is there any reason for the random order this year? Doesn't really matter that much to me but going from the bottom up last year seemed to make more sense.

Yes.
Even in world cup he wasn't that hot compared to some of the better teams.
He didn't have much competition in the qualifiers, so he looked a lot better than he really was by the time we reached blizzcon. (Remember how team UK were using Christfr before blizzcon? Chris was the next best competition for benbest during qualifiers, and Chris was really bad compared to almost any other decent team's rein at the time)

and i'm not even from EU, but even i found it pretty sad that paris decided to go for a mixed roster.
I’m fairly certain we’ll see a team go full EU or maybe even majority EU in the future. There’s quite a bit of good talent in EU contenders. Is it championship level? Not really, but it is certainly playoffs level.

To talk about Hyp, what people don't know is that he is an INSANE Ana main. Unfortunately, during stage 1 Paris only played goats with a Zenyatta but not with Ana so Hyp couldn't shine that much. Grey was probably better than Hyp on Zenyatta but I don't think he is better on Ana.
lol shadowburn didnt get outshone by eqo. Shadowburn was and is better mechanically. Eqo simply had the playstyle that fit the team better and the larger hero pool.

Imagine watching this video in late 2020.
I am from the U.K. and really did wish that there was more of a solid European representation in the league. But I always did think because Paris mainly signed players based of World Cup what if they signed fusions. And as another side thought why did London spitfire go all Korean again. Like might as well have chucked in a few Europeans and went for more of a cash grab come the home stands.

I got a feeling a lot of DPSers in OWL suffered skill atrophe under the GOATS meta.
That and no other region can compete with Korea. Everywhere else in the world, games aren't considered anything important but in Korea gaming is a full on phenomenon. The mentality has to change, and I don't think anywhere in the west can even come close.

Paris was just pathetic all season. Their first win against the London Spitfire is the only highlight of that season I can think of. There must have been a lot of drama behind the scenes because they had the same problems the Seoul Dynasty had times 3.

16:27 Yeah I agree, it seems its easiest to have a Korean Drone in half your roster or replace it in full. As I've said before, sure KR players do well but you can't call an EU team if all of them are KR since it's not marketed for people familiar with the region itself.
They should have kept Finnsi SDB and cloudy as Backups tbh, the frenchies except soon are terrible

Eternal failed mostly in coaching area. They were constantly missing meta and missing right player choices.
Stage 1 - Soon at Zarya was bad choice. Hyp instead of Grey was constroversial. Benbest instead of Cloudy? Meh.
Stage 2? Complately missed meta. Even players said on their streams that they thought Hammond will be OP so Cloudy practiced it entire stage 1. Danye was practicing Zarya 100% preseason and was told to practise Brig for entire stage 1. Soon still remained on Zarya for too long.
Stage 3 - After half season everyone was able to see that Danye was way better Zarya than Soon and promising Sombra so why the hell they locked him for the first half on Brig/Bastion?! Benbest was back which was questionable but Cloudy was becoming Hammond one trick for first half...
Stage 4 - Eternal was complately unprepared for role lock... They found some balance in stage 3 but everything went upside down after meta change. SDB was pretty decent but as always were keeping ults forever(especially on Pharah). Soon were sometimes poping of but teamplay overall was pretty bad.
I feel like players like Soon, SDB, Danye and Cloudy couldn't show their potential because of bad comps and roster choices. Also communication and teamplay didnt help them...
