Truckers across Jamaica and overseas came out on Saturday, August 7, 2021, to pay their respect to Stephen "Trucky" Philp who passed away on July 30, 2021. Stephen passed away a few days after his truck crashed in St. Mary. Stephen will definitely be remembered as one of Jamaica's youngest and most talented drivers. Truck in Paradise.

It's ironic but I met this youth once on July 03 2021, at the jerk center near Robin's Bay turn off. We spoke for less than 2 minutes asking about the specs on his Western Star. He seemed a very cool person well mannered and approachable. I was surprised when I learnt that he died and under what circumstances. After a 2 minute chat he made such a profound impact (mek mi feel like mi would jump back round the steering of a Western Star with 550 Cat or 14L Detroit) and if I was so moved by his mannerism in such a short time, I really can't imagine how he touched other person. Sleep good yute....condolences to the family, friend and well wishers...👍👍

Jamaica Healthcare system is what keeps most people from moving back to our home country. It's the worse. I felt it when the mom started speaking. 🙏🏿
Jamaica healthcare is infact one of the best among third world countries. It's the staff that makes it look bad. The salary is atrocious for the working condition.
Remember Jamaica is a third world country and so the health system would not be on par with those of first world countries. However, there are private hospitals here that give first world standard. When the diaspora come back why do they think they should go to public hospitals after being away from the country for decades. They don't contribute tax to get the free benefits at the public hospitals anyway. Go to the private hospitals.

I pray for strength to the parents of Stephen, his child, all other family members, friends, associates and his lover. Such a sweet soul. I don't know Stephen yet tears comes to my eyes. I pray you all will be comforted by Stephen's menories. It is a joy watching him driving the truck looking so small. Most care givers don't go to work for the love of people. Common sense could tell anyone that a wet mattress would make matters worse. Bway mi wish the accident didn't happen. I love you Stephen.

Health care system likewise the security system failed you..us.. and though I wish there was an undo button we could press to take us back in time.. we sadly can't undo what has been done. You were a great dad, brother, son, nephew, cousin etc.. but you have been the best cousin anyone could ask for. There has never been a disagreement between you any of your cousins and anyone else for the record.. you turned arguments into laughter.. This truly touch my heart. He was a young man filled with ambition and had a future filled with success. Only God knows why he had to return home so soon, I won't question our Lord. I know he's resting peacefully and will always be admired, loved, and remembered ❤

When I saw the touching tribute from his fellow truckers on IG, I knew I just had to watch this vid by 876 Streets. Pity I’m just knowing about him after his death but he lived such an impactful life & loved what he did.

And now I am watching a sad moment of him..be strong friends and family 😭💔

When love is so overwhelming we tend to overlook human frailty. I understood he was really a wonderful young man...very helpful and kind. Some of the interviewees gave away some telling evidence of immaturity and recklessness! People bashing the health system, of which I know it is terrible but where is our personal responsibility for our actions? I wasn't there on the night of the crash in Wilderness...but the word is on the streets. There is even videos of reckless racing. The point am making is be responsible drivers on the road, don't drink n drive and get proper rest. RIP 18 boss.

When it comes to healthcare in hospitals follow your gut feelings if your mind is urging you to seek other options go ahead and seek it immediately. My condolences first I am hearing of him he is talented, being a trucker is a career I would do other than my current one.
