WOW! What a performance! Lurrie & Billy and the band at their best!! Thanks for posting! As for origins -Billy is adding his chromatic chops and energy to the version he (and I ) heard night after night from Jr Wells at Theresa's.

Mr. Pokemper is right, Billy and Lurrie were harnessing lightning, and summoning thunder in this era. You still have the Che Guevara T-Shirt and Beemer Bike, Marc? Thanks again for the Photo of Elvin Jones and Barrett Deems at the Jazz Showcase. Bless up Cuz...

@mezzerooni no this is actually "the train i ride" Mississippi fred recorded this in 69 and elvis made "mystery train" popular... You tell me which one you think there coverin....one of the all time mississippi greats or a white mans cover

"@mezzerooni no this is actually 'the train i ride' Mississippi fred recorded this in 69 and elvis made 'mystery train' popular... You tell me which one you think there coverin....one of the all time mississippi greats or a white mans cover" I think they're showing familiarity with the Elvis approach, down to Lurrie singing much more like Elvis than like Fred.
