  • Looking at the old masters of boxing you might notice that they have a different way of doing things. They use different techniques, run different drills, and use different equipment. That begs the question, if it worked so well for them why reinvent the wheel? Today we will look at classic style bag mitts to see if they still have a place in your training in 2024. ‪@tkboxinggear‬
Tk Gladiator gloves are a new product but they are a twist on an old classic. They could be the best boxing gloves for heavy bag work. This boxing glove review will help us determine that. These boxing gloves are for the heavy bag. They may be the perfect boxing equipment for your training.

100% agreed. I bought 4oz mma gloves to keep me from cheating my punches.

They're also called Speed bag gloves and bag mitts. The point of these gloves is to condition your hands. I have the Rival RB5 which are affordable and made with real leather at around the $40 mark after they break in after a few uses they're great. My first pair were the Everlast cheapies made of imitation leather which fell apart. If you're on a tight budget Nista Boxing Speed Bag Gloves are around $20 which I think are good quality faux leather.

Something that unfortunately has been lost in time is time is the reality that all these old fighters wrapped when using bag mitts. From the early 20th century through the 80's which saw a shift to using larger gloves for bag work and these gloves fell in popularity.
Dempsey wrapped just like everyone regardless of what he advised kids to do.
So please learn to wrap and protect the integrity of your bone structure while hitting the heavy bag.
This model is one of a few that copy the Rival RB5.
None of them are great if your working hard as the mesh palm is a weakness.
At this point the best are Thai made (K Bag Gloves) or Mexican made (Necalli) if you want something super durable.

Hey that’s all really good info. Everything I read said not to wear wraps but maybe I was reading the wrong stuff. I appreciate the info!

@@The_promise98 of course another tip I’d give is even tho you box as a hobby make sure you can always defend yourself even on the bag work on blocks and slips and when you hit the bag get into a good tempo then switch it up to high intensity then back to comfortable tempo that will help create explosive I better be seeing these things in your next vid or I’m gonna come to yo gym lol good work tho
