  • Please enjoy my reaction to all the openings of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! This without a doubt the longest openings reaction I've done and the most intriguing anime I've seen so far! The artwork change up is something I've never seen and the amount of characters, especially JoJo's, is quite confusing! Regardless, it still looks like a fun watch!

Since you asked whether they got lazy using the same Openings multiple times, it's the exact opposite.
Even though they could have absolutely kept the Openings, they added different Variants during Seasons/Parts additionaly.
They also did not just add Scenes from the Anime, those changes/Variants hint at very important Events during the Anime itself (most of the Time regarding an Antagonist and his Power).

Only looking for the types that will reaffirm their own beliefs on whichever subject is relevant to the conversation at the time. “that guy said something different to what I’m use to hearing about this topic, what an incel virgin loser”. I hate that stuff it never made sense for me to operate with that completely emotion based mindset, I will never understand how my personal opinions are relevant to anyone else’s personal opinions and how mine should somehow be held up higher than other peoples voices and thoughts. It’s not really fair to do that at all to people and yet there are some who find a way to completely justify doing that to another person while refusing to let that happen to themselves.

I'll try to answer all your questions without spoilers:
-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's is made up of 9 different parts as of now. These were written from 1987-present, by it's author Hirohiko Araki. Each part in the story has it's own protagonist, and side characters. Each part takes place in different locations in our world, and in a different time period.
-Apart from our Jojo for each part, there are sometimes previous protagonists who return, or otherwise simply a new group of allies, or villains. Each part of this series tells it's own story with it's own themes, however, they are linked together in this way.
-Jojo's are distinguished by being part of the same lineage, and somehow having the sounds "jo" appear in both their first and last name, hence this nickname for them.
-The series is known to teeter between serious is often outlandish with it's bizarre concepts and humour, and is even littered with western musical references, making it a real treat to watch. It is an iconic series, that still stands to be vastly different from most anime out there.
Finally, I want to thank you for the reaction! Thank you for trying to keep things shorter, and don't worry about talking too much, we're here to see your reaction, and thoughts. So no worries. And if you'd like, I'd love to see your thoughts on the endings of this show! The author loves western music, so I'm sure you'll know a lot of the songs.

    @andrewpresley8676 Před 10 měsíci +26

    To make it very simple:
This show follows characters of the same bloodline, but due to supernatural forces, it makes everyone’s names a bit odd.
Part 1 Phantom Blood: Jonathan Joestar, a classic Victorian era English gentleman who is all about honor and justice. Story takes place in the late 1800s. This part is also about vampires and zombies.
Part 2 Battle Tendency: Joseph Joestar, a man who knows your next move and line before you do. Story takes place in 1938 and takes place all over the world; likely inspired by Indiana Jones. This part is about ancient Aztec rubber gods who are afraid of the sun and wanna rock, also featuring vampires and zombies.
Part 3 Stardust Crusaders: Jotaro Kujo is a schoolboy who fights in fools in the streets. Story takes place in 1988. This part also has vampires and a few zombies but they don’t show up again.
Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable: Josuke Higashikata (in kanji his name can be read as JoJo, I think it’s the suke part of his name that can be read as Jo) this follows a schoolboy who is very sensitive about what people say about his hair and beats them up if they make fun of his hair. Story takes place between April 1st (First day of school for japan) to the summer in the year 1999. This part includes an odd relationship and an alien.
Part 5 Vento Aureo/Golden Wind: Giorno Giovanna (he’s an Italian who wsa born in Japan, but lived in Italy so it’s pronounced like Jorno Jovanna) is a man who wants to join the mafia and who had a very rough life just like his father who lived in the late 1800s, but this takes place in the year 2000, and he lives a better life than most. This part also features magic turtles with space rooms, and an arrow that’s different from past parts.
Part 6 Stone Ocean: Jolyne Cujoh is an American-Japanese, and was wrongly convicted of crimes she didn’t do, and must escape this Florida prison. Story takes place in 2011. This part also features invisible alligators and a kid living in a magic space room.
That’s all what we got in animation. Here’s what’s currently only Manga form:
Steel Ball Run (the secret part 7): Johnny Joestar, he's very relatable and is the favorite of many fans. This part is set in the late 1800s, the focus is a horse race from California to New York. It has a man who has his name on his teeth and the villain is a member of one of the most evil groups ever to exist, a politician. Also features names from part 1 that have changed.
Part 8 JoJolion: A man also named Josuke Higashikata, but is a different story entirely. The story is set in Japan 2011, which was when it started publishing and it ended in 2021. This part also features rock people who sleep for months, and a bunker.
Part 9 The JOJOLands: This is the latest part that started in 2023, and follows a kid named Jodio Joestar who lives in Hawaii and the story takes place in the 2020s. I don’t know what’s in this part yet so comeback in ten years.
The dude who created this series loves two things which inspire the characters in the series. Music and Fashon magazines. The music is because characters or stands (those things which looked like robots or dudes) are named after musicians Ronnie James Dio is the legendary king of Metal and the character who is named after him is Dio Brando (mixed with Marlin Brando), or like Baron Zeppeli (named after Led Zeppelin), another pair are Esidisi (AC/DC) and Kars (The Cars). In part 3 stands are introduced are mostly named after tarot cards and then Egyptian gods. After that most stands are named after musicians or albums like Red Hot Chile Peppers, Aerosmith, or for albums as an example Atom Heart Father is the stand while the album is called Atom Heart Mother. When translating it into English they have to change a lot of the names due to music laws, but it makes the same point but as different meanings; example is Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheep is an AC/DC song that has two localizations, D4C or the funnier Filthy Acts at a Reasonable Price.

Oh and the 1 Second from Every Episode and 2 Seconds from every episode (granted they are outdated but they still funny).

The art style is so different because Hirohiko Araki took heavy inspiration from western culture. The characters names are musical references dating back to the 70s, and the "big buff guy" character physique is referencing western comics and how they are all big buff guys. The guy with the tall flat top hair cut was the inspiration for King of Fighter's Benimaru.

Your conclusions aren't completely correct, but that isn't a bad thing! It's extremely refreshing to see people come to their own conclusions. Now, a lot of the time, when there are differences in the openings, they are referencing someone's, most likely the villains, power.

Whenever there's two instances of a song, that's not them getting lazy and reusing the same song for two seasons. It's them going the extra mile and having two versions of the same opening for the same season when something else would just have one. This often connects to the main antagonist's powers being revealed and in some way getting incorporated into the opening, and that second version generally only lasts a couple of episodes.
Each part has its own protagonist referred to as "JoJo" because of something in their name (JOnathan JOestar, JOseph JOestar, KuJO JOtaro, Higashikata JOsuke (some kanji in Higashikata can also be read as Jo too), GIOrno GIOvana, JOlyne CuJO). The JoJos of different parts can also make appearances in the other parts, but if they do, it's a supporting characters.
Each of the parts also has its own name: Phantom Blood (op 1), Battle Tendency (op 2), Stardust Crusaders (op 3-4), Diamond is Unbreakable (op 5-7), Vento Aureo / Golden Wind (op 8-9), and Stone Ocean (op 10-11) are involved here. (Not sure why it says op 1-12 when there's really only 11 openings with some alternative versions. I guess the video maker might have counted the alt version of one of the Diamond is Unbreakable ops as separate? Maybe the EDM remix?) Next in line to be adapted into anime would be Steel Ball Run, my personal favorite.
The stuff at 21:10 where you see multiples of people is just... the art style for the OP. There's no cloning going on. Though there _is_ a story reason for the repeating. Not gonna explain though :)
And they don't take stuff directly from episodes into the openings. Sometimes they might recreate scenes for it, but not directly copied animation.

  • @starsilverinfinity

  • @lucasprestes
    @lucasprestes Před 9 měsíci +2

So, the reason there's so much "repetition" is because starting from season 3 it became a tradition on the season finale to change the opening to reveal the main villain powers. On Golden Wind they went overboard and changed again after a major power up for the main characters

  • @Xeroph-5
    @Xeroph-5 Před 8 měsíci +2

Some pointers to help decipher the openings:
    - The main JoJo of each season is the one that the intro focuses on most.
    - There are 11 openings (not including variants) distributed across the 6 current seasons. They are split as follows: 1, 1, 2, 3, 2, 2.
    - Sometimes, a past JoJo will pop up again in a future season. Jotaro Kujo is most notorious for this, appearing at least once in every season beyond his, which is season 3.
    - If an intro has a variant, it's because something very noteworthy happened during that part of the season. CNBT's EDM remix is due to Koichi Hirose (a supporting protagonist in part 4) gaining his stand. Until the next new intro, this change is displayed in the OP, as the music has changed and we can now see Koichi's stand in the OP.
DIO's stand (The World) ability is revealed near the end of season 3, hence why "End of The World" has a variant where time stops at the end of it. As Diavolo's stand is slowly revealed, the time break sequence in "Traitor's Requiem" changes. One where we don't see it but we see an effect, one where Diavolo gives a short monologue as we see what he does, and one where Giorno interrupts him in the episode Diavolo gets beaten.
    - Lastly, JoJo OPs have a LOT of spoilers in them, but they're placed in a way so that you'll only see them if you know what to look for. Example: in End of The World, the coloured characters separated by pendulum swings all get markings to show their confrontations with DIO. Kakyoin's web breaks all at once without delay, Joseph gets a sharp spike to the throat, and Jotaro gets sharp spikes across his body. Earlier in that same opening, all the protagonists that die in that season are on one side of the staircase, while the survivors are on the other, except Jotaro, who the entire battle depends on.
    - I forgot to add that the last OP of each season (except 1 & 2) have a variant where the villain interrupts the intro in a way similar to their stands abilities. DIO stops time, Kira reverses time without anyone seemingly knowing (until the very end when they all turn to look at him), Diavolo skips time, and Pucci accelerates time. JoJo villains really do like their time powers...

It's a multi-generational story about the Joestar family. The story is divided into story arcs called "Parts" and each Part follows a Joestar family member in a different time and place. Jojo is their nickname because their first and last names start with "Jo" or can be read as such. They are a force of good and fight against various evils such as vampires, ancient supermen, gangsters...etc.
So you were right about there being multiple Jojos, but it's not every single character lol. It's generally one, sometimes two per Part, A Jojo protagonist and a Jojo mentor.
In that shot, for example, The old man and the black hair guy are the Jojos of Part 3, the grandpa mentor (who was the Jojo with the headband in Part 2) and a grandson protagonist.
The rest of the characters in that shot are the "Jobros", Jojo's companions that tag along for the adventure.
Those different versions of the openings are the main villains interrupting them with their powers.

FYI the author of the manga (Hirohiko Araki) is a big fan of 80s and 90s music and music generally so there are plenty of references to bands artists and songs in character designs, names, stand names, and all the poses they do.
He's also into movies, the reason why characters from the first 3 parts look buff like 90s action stars like Stallone, Van Damme and Schwarzenegger.
Some openings have multiple variants that are used for 1-3 episodes after power/identity reveals. Also, the artwork hasn't changed at all, some openings are animated in 3d and others in 2d
    Quick synopsis:
Basically, each part of the manga (9 at the moment), and in turn, the anime (6 animated right now), has a different member from the joestar family as protagonist, whether it's the grandson of the protagonist of the previous part or a secret love child etc., all having 2 "jo" syllables in their names somehow (eg JOtaro KuJO, GIOrno GIOvanna), some are directly refered to in the anime as "jojo" by other characters. There is only one jojo per part (except jojos from previous parts reappearing as supporting characters in later parts, like joseph or jotaro) Parts 1&2 have hamon(ripple) as a power system and from 3 onwards they use stands which are based on hamon combined with an alien virus from an asteroid. Some more humanlike than others, stands can only be seen by other stand users and have a specific type/ability/superpower.
    Part names:
    1-phantom blood
    2-battle tendency
    3-stardust crusaders
    4-diamond is unbreakable
    5-golden wind
    6-stone ocean
    7-steel ball run
    8-jojolion
    9-jojolands
It literally started with a greedy guy who wanted to steal a family's fortune and ended with a gay priest reseting the universe and it gets even more bizzare afterwards

Jojo’s is absolutely TIMELESS. And no they didn’t get lazy using the same openings. The repeated openings have an alteration that usually only happens for like an episode or two during a given season. It’s not a scene from the show but it’s own unique scene for the opening. When I tell you, we as Jojo’s fans would NEVER skip an opening just for that reason lol when you see that alteration you get hype and know some shit is about to go down. It’s immersive.
Also I don’t think you noticed but the last scene from the last opening is the last scene from the first opening. We ended right where we started 🤭 but hope you had fun watching and I hope you watch it on your own time. It truly is a unique and bizarre adventure.

The reason the openings a lot of the time have a repeat where stuff changes is that generally throughout the series the main villains power has something to do with controlling time in some way and they usually play the altered opening sort of around the reveal and it's meant to be them messing with the opening using their powers and now that it's been revealed the viewer can see what they did, like in the first one that changes originally the villian just teleports behind the main character but after we know his powers we see him freezing time and walking past him

The whole thing with jojos is that it’s like the lineage of the Jojo blood line with each new Jojo being in a new decade, such as the 4th jojos bieng set in the 90s, the openings were made by a different company then the animation company, when that company became busy with other projects the animation company made the openings in house, with the actual art style which you can see with jojos 4 and 5

It was actually very common to hear the sound effect of the animation layered with the opening song back in the 60's and 70's when anime began rising in popularity as a kid's entertainment. The trend began to change during the 80's but I think it's the 90's with direct to video anime, the rise of J pop and it's involvement with anime op and the more diverse audience (i.e. to only just kids) that put the nail in the coffin of that tendency. Nowadays it's a gimmick seldom used and often only during a part of the op and not the full song.

When you watch the same opening back to back in a list with a slight variation, it seems odd and kinda jarring. When you watch the same opening at the start of every episode 40 times in a row, then suddenly at the climax on the 41st episode, the opening changes slightly, it's hype as fuck. They didn't have to do that, they could've used the same opening again for the 41st time and nobody would've cared. They go out of their way to add something, and it's awesome.

You were right in that there are different Jojos. Someone below already explained that the series is broken into parts, but each part follows the story of a different member of the Joestar Bloodline. each main character has some part of their name that either spells or sounds like "JoJo"
    part 1: JOhnathan JOstar
    part 2: JOseph JOestar
    part 3: JOtaro KuJO
part 4: JOsuke Higashigata (the trick here is an understanding of kanji, where the symbol for "suke" in Josuke can also be read as "jo"
Part 5: GIOrno GIOvanna (this is due to him being the son of a reoccuring villain named "Dio" due to part of the plot I wont spoil, Giorno is also part of the Joestar bloodline. so rather than Jojo it's "Giogio" instead.
Part 6: JOlyne KuJO (Jotaro's daughter)
    Part 7: JOhnny JOestar
Part 8: a different Josuke Higashigata. so it's the same explanation as part 4
    Part 9: JOdio JOestar
Parts 7 8 and 9 are not animated yet. Part 9 is the comic that is currently in progress.

Haha, just when you were getting used to the repetition they hit you with the second variant.
Well Ill throw a recommendation, Mob Psycho has some of the best imo. Also HxH endings
Edit: Just for clarification, the final few episodes of a season will have a variant of their opening (2 in the case of Golden Wind) and it showcases aspects of the plot. Going in-depth can be kind of spoilery but its kind of hard to spoil plot for this anime because of how outlandish it is.

Followed you for a while. Now it's the first time I comment because I'm a long time JoJo fan.
JoJo Bizarre Adventure is the story of Joestar's bloodline century conflicts with supernaturals. All JoJo had Jo in both their names in some ways (Jonathan Joestar, Josepth Joestar, Kujo Jotaro and so on) and a star mark on their body. It's a one hell of a unique ride since in the 80s till now that has 8 parts and 8 JoJos (anime just finished part 6 and no plan on part 7 yet).

Context of the show really makes the intros pop and freak you out.

17:38 Also the kid here has a Spirit friend thing (avoiding the true name for spoiler reasons) and in the previous version he didn't have one.
