In this video, I'll do my honest review of the Carry On Folding Controller 49! As the name suggests, it can fold, which can make your 4-octave keyboard fit in your backpack.
Also, the Carry On Folding Controller 49 it has MIDI over Bluetooth, so, it can make our lives really easy when we are on the go. But, is it worth it?

I have this keyboard and love it. I live in Canada and it was literally impossible to find anyone to ship it to me, so I had to order it on Amazon when I was in Europe a few months ago, and it eventually made it over to me. I wouldn't call the build quality up to professional standards (and mine had a gimpy key), but they're really on to something with this design and I would love to see this concept developed further until the bigger companies like Korg Yamaha & Roland catch on to the idea that a folding keyboard is also incredibly practical for professional gigging musicians as myself. They keyboard uses a computer keyboard-type mechanism, which takes a little getting used to, but unlike the X-Key design, it's surprisingly playable. The big difference between those 2 designs is that this keyboard actually has the black keys raised a decent amount, allowing you to feel your place on the keyboard properly. I wish the black keys were longer (even just a little longer), and I wish even more that they would come out with a 73 key C-C keyboard, of which I would buy two immediately. Hoping to see more of this innovation out there as they're going a good direction with this!
Did yours have the square orange buttons? I bought the one on Amazon uk shown to match the one on this video but I was sent a model with out the square orange buttons
Consider using a shipping forwarder if parcels are difficult to reach you.

Valeu!
You are a very nice tutor!
Thank you!
Hey I am curious how are you recording the midi sound from your phone for this video?
Tested it yesterday in local music instruments store. It seemed ok but I didnt like the length of black keys. I couldnât play something more or less complex. Velocity sensitivity was decent but need more time to evaluate. Overall I think that you can adapt to keyboard, its a matter of time spent with this instrument. Maybe I will buy it, may be will not. I am definitely ready to spend much more money for professional instrument of this format. I hope will continue iterating development. I will look closely at their website.
Guys, help, i can't save presets - i don't want to have pitch/modwheel on XY pad and tryna switch it with their Carry-on Control app, it works, but after i turn it off and then on this settings dissapear, what can i do with it?
i doubt ill get an answer but does anyone know if this is good for nostalgiaăłăăčă?
Hello.. i just bought the Midiplus Vboard 49 .. it looks exactly identical to your keyboard, but it doesn't say "Carry on" (it says Vboard). With Chinese products you can often find the same item with different brand names.. (clones). In any event.. i'm trying to find out if this keyboard can RECEIVE MIDI signals?? i'm using it as a controller for my DAW (on my laptop) and what i play into my DAW (Native Instruments Maschine) and then have the MIDI data be used from the Keyboard to another place (on my iPad). Do you know if this Keyboard can also RECEIVE MIDI BACK after its played/sent MIDI?
Hey sir just wanted to ask you whether it necessarily needs a phone or computer / laptop for the keyboard to work ??
Thank you Sir!
I wish they'd make a 16 inch model that folded down to 8 inches.
Thanks for the video, really want one of these but can't seem to find one in the US
How to pair the keyboard? I need an app for android phonesđ
I can't find song settings
No pitch bend?
How to pair this keyboard? There is no Bluetooth pairing button and holding the on/off button also doesn't go to pairing mode
It's explained in this video. When you turn it on (by holding the button) it starts in pairing mode, then you connect to it from any app that supports MIDI over Bluetooth. You do NOT pair with it through your normal Bluetooth settings screen.
e sobre Velocit? Tem essa função de sensibilidade nas teclas?
Tem sim!
I think the idea is really cool but I think the hinges are probably the breaking point. Maybe I'll just try it out. :)
Can you use it with and Android phone? Like Bandlab? Thanks
Yes!

Where can I buy this model online in the US? Amazon only has the non velocity versionâŠ
It isn't currently available in the US (I checked with the manufacturer). You have to order it from a foreign website and pay for international shipping.
Reverb.
Can you use headphones?
Most important: does it do CV?
No, it's MIDI!
Interesting...
The price is somehow crazy. I don't think it is worth it.
I have got a (big) Arturia-Keyboard with half-weighted keys one month ago with 49 keys, it has eight drumpads, 9 knobs, 9 faders, a real pitch and mod-wheel, and its price was just 25 Euros more than this. (149⏠for the arturia Keylab 49 Essential,, the tested keyboard is about 125âŹ)
Its not that mobile, but it got a bag with it, and is real playable. These keys of the carry in-thing seem to be a bit frustrating, is there any velocity possible?
Yes, it has velocity sensitive keys.
the whole point is the idea of being able to travel with this. Unless you're travelling it makes zero sense.
Is it suitable for learning piano?
It's good for learning the basics, but it's better to get a keyboard with piano sized weighted keys.
@@NerdMusician Thank you sir, do you have any suggestions for a 61 key folding piano product?
I wonder if the keys are the actual width of a real piano, 7/8 of an inch?
Yes
Yes, and that's the main thing I like about this keyboard. The keys don't depress like a proper piano (they travel straight down, vertically) but at least they are the correct width, which makes it easy to go between this and something more substantial.
