During a six hour drive from North Florida to Sanibel Island I decided to take a short break to try the fishing around Oscar Scherer State Park. The snook action was fast with a bite on almost every cast.
Yes I was west of US-41 before I found any snook. They were in holes and only where active during moving water. Thanks for your question and for watching!
Thanks for responding and making this video. I was just looking into the folding boat, ha ha...I'll be camping there soon. Hopefully I'll find some snook too!
How far west do you think you traveled to find snook? I'll be using a kayak, just wondering if I'd have a really long trip to find some of those areas you were fishing?
Within a mile you’ll find plenty of fish. The main thing to look for are points and current flow. Also it helps a lot if you skip your bait into the mangroves. The skipping action looks like a fish trying to get away from the predator and will create a reaction strike. Good luck on your trip!
Thank you for responding. That's good news. I don't want to have to paddle a kayak too far to catch fish, ha ha...Once the weather cools off a little I'll be camping there for sure.
Fabulous video, thanks for sharing your experience.
Great action with the Snooksters in Sarasota ...An Oscar winning performance!!
Darn, I wish I would have thought of that!
What bait did you use? Live? Lures?
You said you headed toward salty water. Did you have to travel west of 41?
