You're so cute and pretty. It's great when someone like you from a foreign country like Russian experiences our music and from the UK. Your reactions are priceless.
Well James might add that,I Too, was born, January 1st,1973. And the,80 s, especially the earlier 80 s. 80-81-82-83 ,❤,84, were yes the transition. But I have to tell you as a adolescent in starting, growing up, in the,70 s. Sure it wasn't all roses 🌹😭. But compared to,2024. Hell yeah lol 🤣😆, I'll definitely back to the future wormholes, go back. I could go on and on , thanks 😊👍💯. Laura Branigan, 😢 Rest in Peace 🕊️. Great Artist. She'll definitely be missed, died to young. This one first, then Gloria.
First time I heard this song was on my "Walkman radio"/ cassette tape player as I was arriving on the night train into LA in 1984. I thought it was a nice energetic song that seemed to catch the mood of the people who liked to party at the clubs at night. I never saw the music video until I saw it on CZcams.
Laura Branigan had several hits that were originally hits in Europe for other singers. Her biggest hit, Gloria, was a bit hit in Italy, for example. Self Control was a huge hit in many countries in the summer of 1984, either Laura's version or the original version sung by Raffaele Riefoli.
In Italy, many of her songs are popular sang by other (Italian) singers: "Self Control" was sang by Raf, "Gloria" by Umberto Tozzi (also translated in Italian). Laura Branigan is anyway well known.
P.S. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Raffaele Riefoli is an Italian singer-songwriter who is better known as simply RAF. Riefoli lived the few first years of the 1980s in London, England, before starting out his musical career in 1984, landing mostly in the new wave scene with his English language debut album, Raf. His first single, "Self Control", which he co-wrote with Giancarlo Bigazzi and Steve Piccolo, was a huge hit not only in his native Italy but also in Austria (No. 7), Switzerland (No. 1) and Germany, where the single climbed as high as No. 2 in the Media Control single chart and spent a total of seven weeks within the Top 10. Raf's version of the song also managed to enter the Top-40 in France. "Self Control" was recorded and released contemporaneously by American pop star Laura Branigan, previously best known for the hit singles "Gloria" (another cover version originally released by Italian singer Umberto Tozzi) and "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You". Branigan's version was released as the first single off her 1984 album, also titled Self Control, and became a worldwide dance and pop success, hitting No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Branigan's version hit the No. 1 spot in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa and Canada, and was a major hit in Ireland, Australia, France, the Netherlands and the UK. Raf's version, which was charting high in numerous markets in 1984/85, was highly expected to become the most popular song in the history of the Italian music industry."
Very insightful observations. Living in that time period it was about creating unique art forms, self expression and back then to interact and meet people you had to go out. You created a different persona when you were out at night, almost like being an actor or playing a role. Now people just create embellished profiles online but back then you created an enhanced fantasy in real life.
I was Born 1982 and this Song was from 1984, i was 2 Years old, i was a Little Boychild, but today this Song Played the German Radiostations, it is a classicle Pop/Rock Song.
Same. Born in 1982, but the eighties were my childhood. It holds the most magic for me, in my memories. And I had and have such a crush on Laura Branigan. She was a true beauty, talent, and a vision of a woman.
I also grew up in the 80s, I wouldn't say it was better ,but it was definitely more carefree at least for me, I think every generation has its own positives and negatives personally. But I Do love 80s music for sure
Love the 80's.💗 A few suggestions. .."Everybody wants to rule the World" "We didn't start the fire" "We are the World". ( "99 Red Ballooons" or. "99 Luft Balloons / German version" both songs by Nena) "Ebony and Ivory" by Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder. "Flashdance". "Total Eclipse of the heart" "Uptown Girl". "Let's hear it for the boy"
I think you're spot on, people where less self obsessed back then. Now it's all me, me, me. I love your Frenchie backing track. 70s and 80 definitely the best decades for music.
If you want to watch a great film try the count of Monty Cristy 2001 version . You seem like someone that would fall in love with this film . I advise everyone to watch it . Under rated film .🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌️🤙🙏
You're parents were turned on by 80's music......❤ they Created you❤...We the people feel you should dedicate a few years, more or less, to 80's music❤❤❤❤
I was born in the 60s and I can confirm we didn't use to think that everything should be made to our opinion, we valued diversity in points of view. If you have not seen Eyes Wide Shut (a movie with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman) I would recommend you watching it (not necessarily reacting to it) and then rewatching this video. I have the feeling the underground "party" is based on the secret parties from that movie. Most of my favorite music is from the 80s. It was my teen/early twenties, when I identified with (back then) the new music and stylistic choices.
Well we are the millennials experienced a lot of bad things we went through the crack era AIDS error and remember usa serial killers we caught in the 80s we are tense because our parents had fun n we experienced the outcome in the 90s...
The video is kind of a cheesy one. Around the time it was released, MTV was still in its early years, and a lot of artists tended to make an accompanying music video that was visually appealing. I would say this definitely got the job done.😀
Yes, life was way easier in the 80s. Life was simpler before the internet. You had to insult someone to their face and deal with the consequences, the extent of your community was the people in your town, the negatives of the world didn't drown out the good that's happening simultaneously, and I could go on. There's good to the internet. It's hard to see because the bad is amplified, monetized, followed, and profitable. Smh.
I highly recommend that you check out the song, "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Brown. I remember hearing this song on the radio when it first came out. Even though I was a little kid, it stirred my emotions and imagination. As I grew older and understood the song's meaning better, it struck a much deeper chord inside me. It's a beautifully haunting, deep, thought provoking, emotional song. Check it out when you get a chance.✌️❤
A great music selection from the 80’s. Yes it was a very different time with AIDS, the Cold War, and MTV. No internet or many PCs. As you said the choreography was different to stand out from other music videos. As previously mentioned this is actually a cover song written by an Italian artist who went by the name Raf. Here is a link to his music video of the same song: czcams.com/video/1_TQjEn6cpQ/video.htmlsi=wLJSTtUEVTxlRraq Ironically they were released at about the same time in Europe. Laura’s version was more popular. RIP. Looking forward to your videos this week for the nostalgia. Wonder if your mom knows this song. Word you were looking for is adolescence. Хорошо. Спасибо большое.
Love you Khaleesi but you know as well as I do that your subscription number just like the number of views is just a vanity number. While it may be indicative ultimately it is meaningless because you don't know how many of those subscriptions are active and you don't know how many of those views were just touch-and-go's, how many of them only watch for 5 or 10 seconds and then we're gone . I went back and checked your last 10 full videos which were non short and over a week old and you only averaged 3000 views in that included Your touch-and-go's. How is that possible if you have 100,000 active subscriptions? How many of those subscriptions fully watched a complete long- form video in the last 30 days? That's what matters and that's what counts not vanity subscriptions or views. Now you have those numbers and we don't. Would you like to share them with us? I'm not back to being a troll, just a concerned subscriber.
This response is because you refuse to stop insulting Irina and because you implied others and myself are simps just because we're nice to her. Award winning performance JR, pretending to be a stranger criticizing your wife with illogical insults to stir up controversy, trying once again to get others angry at you.👏🏆 She deserves more respect than that. If you want the truth John, you hurt Irina's channel the most. People come to Irina's page to hear fun reviews, not to see you insult her&others constantly. I've seen many regulars stop commenting since you refuse month after month to stop insulting her&calling anyone who's nice to her, a simp. That's how a childish high school kid acts. YOU are to blame if there is a drop off in interactive stats on this page, not Irina.
John Rob, I will no longer visit this channel since you are still allowed to comment here. It takes me a long time to get angry&now I am. That's when it's time for me to leave. Irina allowed you to harass her&others for over a year now, but I don't have to be here for that. Last 2 days you started the same crap. You like to insult Irina&others? Now it's your turn. You're a low life parasite punk to me with a iq that couldn't get a speeding ticket in a school zone. You're a phony. You act as if you're special, but you're not. That's where the parasite in you comes in. ALL of your confidence comes from insulting others. Not once do I remember you saying 1 good thing about anyone. Btw I used to work at a Nursing home. Do you know what happens to people like you when you're old? Nobody comes to visit them, because they were mean to everyone. They sit in a chair stairing at the wall all day, while other old people have constant visitors because they were nice to people. You'll be alone if you continue to be a f*cking childish pr*ck to everyone. You're nothing to me. I used to bodyslam punks like you who'd harass women on the dance floor, when I did bar security. However, I don't hate you. Hate&holding grudges is for losers. That's all. I wish you and Irina well in your marriage. Peace to you both sincerely🙏

A beautiful song reminiscent of its time. Sadly died way too young at 52. RIP Laura Branigan
Born in 1973 and grew up in the 1980's....and what a great time it was. What I would give to bring that era and the music back again.

"Gloria" Great song, real catchy, excellent choice.💗
Laura covered 'ti amo' of Tozzi too
Great song.
Laura Branigan was a very good artist, who was taken from us too soon.

Self Control video was directed by the great William Friedkin. You can tell the difference between this compared to the average Mtv video.

The movie was made more than a decade after this song.
The crazy thing is,its a very good song AND her voice is sad..
Isso E Bom Demais ❤
Just to say bad ass
You've definitely got to listen to 'tell it to my heart' by Taylor Dayne its an epic track.
Ciao Bellissima, ascolta la versione originale. Quella cantata da Raf
Well we are the millennials experienced a lot of bad things we went through the crack era AIDS error and remember usa serial killers we caught in the 80s we are tense because our parents had fun n we experienced the outcome in the 90s...
React to Ezhel - Margiela
I wish you'd do more movie reactions. But only good ones. "Taxi Driver" is a very NYC film. Since you like NYC so much.
The video is kind of a cheesy one. Around the time it was released, MTV was still in its early years, and a lot of artists tended to make an accompanying music video that was visually appealing. I would say this definitely got the job done.😀
Baby if you like the 80s kind of movie music videos, try Marty Balin's "Hearts". I bet you will love for sure that romantic song
Hola rusiann
