Ibu Volcano Eruption Update; Risk of a Major Eruption, Evacuations Underway

- A major explosive volcanic eruption has the potential to soon occur at the Ibu volcano. As a result, thousands of people were evacuated and Ibu's alert level was raised to its highest level, red. The largest exclusion zone for Ibu at the present is towards the north, which happens to represent a breached section of its crater rim. If a powerful eruption was to occur there in Indonesia, it could produce up to 7 kilometer long pyroclastic flows in that direction in my opinion.

Least volcanic day in Indonesia:
Indonesia can't take a rest 😢
I notice and welcome the recent attention to correct pronunciation of Indonesian place names. Indonesia has earned such attention with the sheer quantity of volcanic data it provides us.
Baru banyak yang erupsi😢

It seems like Indonesia is on top of things like warnings. For a huge country with so many volcanoes, it’s nice to see the resources dedicated to keep people safe.
In early 2000s our govt didnt alocate that much fund. But after series of repeated fatal disaster the government started massive investment on the monitoring of Volcano and Earthquake, including tsunami buoey. Still need a lot more tho, our coast line is Huuuuugee.
@@EA_SET Some people in Indonesia steal tsunami buoy for money.
Since we who frequent this channel know just how unpredictable volcanos are, there could be a devastating explosion. I would be willing to bet that whatever happens it will be very surprising to everyone worldwide.
"I predict it will be a surprise." You need to get into some kind of consulting.
Being professionals with many years of experience did not stop the Kraffts' being killed by a pyroclastic flow on Mt Unzen or the 6 experienced volcanologists on Mt Galeras.
It's always dangerous. But at least volcanologists are _aware_ of the dangers, and thus have a better understanding of what risks are and are not worth taking.
Another day and we learn more about volcanoes 🌋
GODZILLA 1984/1989 🌋🇯🇵
Love your content. It would be helpful if you said "Mount Ebu located in....", to give some perspective immediately about where the location is.
He already covered this volcano several times, maybe thats the reason he dont mention the location everytime
Mount Ibu is in Halmahera island Maluku, Indonesia
He already put it in the video 0:47
If you wanna know where is it located on Google Maps, here's the link :

Hope everyone stays safe! Thanks for the update.
A study using an ensemble of nine ENSO reconstructed proxies and volcano eruption proxies for the past 1500 years found that a significant La Niña state emerges in the second year after large tropical volcanic eruptions. This suggests that volcanic eruptions may play a role in triggering or enhancing La Niña events.
That would explain why we had La Niña in summer 22-23
The mount pinatubo eruption in 1991 increased more el nino like events in the 1990s
Huh.
I see a lot of crazy stuff in the comments here sometime about solar activity, magnetic field and so on, but for once actually a concept that I've never heard before but actually sounds quite plausible! Very interesting. I wonder if that could help predict el nino and la nina in the future.

Circumstances are developing, outcomes are hard to predict and along with Circumstances, and the growing consequences. Greg. 😊. Thanks for the continuous coverage.
My prayers go out to the people of Indonesia, I pray for their safety.
We are in a low activity phase too? Crazy to imagine if the volcanoes started erupting more in line with historical expectations...
eep!
Yeah the rate of activity counting large magnitude eruptions appears to have been higher in the past though it should be noted that there is some evidence to suggest that the overall activity level of any given arc varies periodically with timescales on the orders of centuries to millennia because the slabs which serve as the source of melts don't move and respond in a continuous manner, i.e. slabs get stuck then unstuck etc. consequently varying the rate of hydrated fluids released. So the lull in question may simply be the result of the troughs of activity from different arcs coinciding with each other. Alternatively its possible he same could have been true in reverse with our historical records being derived from an above average interval.
Thanks for your information. Hope the people there stay safe.
Good to get everyone out of there.
Thanks for all of your hard work man!
Thank you 💚
Thanks as always!
Thank you yet again!
Thanks for your alert.❤
Thank you for sharing Sir. 😊

Di Indonesia letusan gunung berapi tampak seperti kita menyaksikan pertandingan sepakbola Liga Primer atau liga Seri A. Aktor dan bintang datang dan pergi silih berganti tak pernah berhenti. Para gunung berapi seolah berlomba-lomba naik kelas bagaikan klub-klub yang berjuang mencapai kasta lebih tinggi...
That rumble sound is pretty eerie!
Have a wonderful day .. 🎉❤
Oh boy! Get to safer ground, people! It's the gas that is the most worrisome.
Busy year.
1:29 did Ruang produce two VEI 5 eruptions, or are the April 17 and April 30 eruptions part of the same eruption?
Same eruption, magma plug
Both Ruang eruptions amounted to a VEI 5 eruption.
can you cover makaheli volcano and thulandang caldera? I have not alot of information here in this link
If you want
The country with the most volcanoes in the world.and are taking turns erupting
"Mr. Anderson, we’ve been watching you for some time now "…🤭
Je me demande si il existe une variation régulière pour les volcans comme on en observe pour les taches solaires.
Source of this particular set of alert levels and exclusion zones?
It must be awesome to be a volcanologist
I saw the seismo, it was very active with lots of VT quakes and tremors
❤
Ibu-volcano is in area where platetectonics is MAD! Very deep sea every side, Celebes-sea , east abyss , south another abyss. And thermohaline system is very near.
Yes, a trained crazy person that loves volcanoes who went up with a local crazy person to nearly the top of this volcano. Sounds like a match made in heaven. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
imagine it has thicker and more gassy magma coming up that has not been recorded before.. just waiting to explode out
One day Ruang, another day Ibu. Will it take long for Karangetang to decide to give its warning?
I have several friends from Halmahera, hope they are fine😢
Is it, "Eruption about to happen!!!" time of day, already!?!
Again?
A map location of the volcano is missing in your video. Indonesia is big
Ibu Volcano in West Halmahera, North Maluku
Let’s hope we do not have another vei4 eruption
Is this normal for Indonesia to have so much volcanic activity? Seems a lot of these volcanoes are springing to life.
It's normal for indonesia, more than 6 volcano erupt every year. Some erupt almost at the same time.
Mother vulcano
more like angry wife
@@francismarion6400In Indonesia, Ibu mean Mother, so..
@@zyrians Is there a father volcano?
Vulcano as in the Italian island?
@@zyrians It not always mother, you can use it to call a lady that you don't know the name of or lady that you respect it similar to like Ma'am or Madam..
It's always Indonesia
You never hear about this from the BBC😂
All the BBC is going to tell you is that climate change is going to change your life which is a total lie you've had climate change for hundreds of millions of years
BBC only reports on stories which profit their advertisers.
I kinda want to see what would happen if you kept pumping sea water into the dome, trying to make a bigger plug
So Ibu means mother, and she's about to have the "mother" of all eruptions.
Could the recent solar activity effect volcanic activity?
Sorry, no effect.
No impact.
Is GODZILLA in that VOLCANO 🌋⁉️
Typhon?
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we see not just one, but MULTIPLE super volcano’s in our lifetimes..
Is it just me or does it seem like more and more volcanoes are coming back to life? Am I being paranoid? Maybe it's because I'm paying more attention to these things.
You're just paying more attention
More coverage = more awareness. However, this does not necessarily equal more eruptions than normal.
The number of erupting volcanoes is normal.
@@chriskenny6520 No, solar cycles have absolutely nothing to do with volcanic eruptions.
Why does this misinformation keep getting posted?
Possibly due to all the studies coming out showing that the sun does cause earthquakes and volcanoes🤷😬
Gonna take a VEI-7, and I think the odds are going up for this event. A 7 is a Tambora like impact on the planet, AKA year without a summer.
Maybe that's what earth needs now.. The cooling down system..

I prefer his distinctive low key delivery, it's part of why I enjoy listening to this channel...there are plenty of other options if you are having trouble hearing and understanding... you might need to get your hearing checked as a precaution if turning up the volume or wearing headphones doesn't help...good luck... you might not have noticed it until now... hearing loss is a safety issue as well...
