I played and finished this game on Mame Plus+ with a keyboard on my PC. The main achievement here is not finishing the game the fastest and breaking a world record; the main goal is showing you the details overlooked for years, the location of secret prisoners and bonus points by the fastest way.

HEY!.. At 20:19, if you shoot the bottom of the square box, extra point appears. I missed this while playing, sorry...
MSX is hardened and remixed official version of MS2... Same maps are edited with different enemies and many different secrets are included in the game. Such that I got many comments from the viewers that confused these 2 games regarding that I skipped some of the secrets in my MS2 video. I prepared this video so that I can resolve the confusion and also put an end to the series.

In the 2nd level if you don't kill bats, at the end in the chest you'll find the golden one

25:04 even here you can appreciate how much effort has been put into Metal Slug X. There's a jet fighter engaging in combat with a flying saucer and they both get destroyed after they collide with each other. Such little details are amazing.

To be honest, this game is so good, that I think it was actually created in the future, but the creators decided to pixelate it no one would be suspicious of the insanely high details.

At 11:46 you can actually hear the glass of the martian space craft breaking from the Stone! What an insane attention to detail, this is something they could've easily just ignored because its just a bomb but they went an extra mile to put that detail in.. just cus!

I remember this game so fondly. One time, when I was 9, my mom took me to the bank. She convinced me to empty my college savings and we headed to the arcade. Her and I got ice cream while she emptied her purse full of quarters into the metal slug arcade game. She beat the game that day. I even got to watch the whole time! Every now and again while I’m on break from the handee-mart, I’ll stop by and check out her high scores. That ice cream was so good!

It's awful. It's kind of useful in some situations like when soldiers are taking cover behind objects but the game insists on giving it to you in the worst moments possible, like areas with enemies on higher ground or air units.

My record in this game without dying is at the middle of 3th mission.
I couldn't pass the final mission without dying at least 10 times.

Is there some kind of reward for not dying? I've got the pc port and it seems you can respawn as often as you want.

The main challenge is precisely how far you can advance in the game without dying.
In this challenge, there is a ranking with about 30 levels, where you start as a recruit, and if you manage to beat the entire game without dying, you achive a Five-Stars General rank.
Since the farthest I was able to reach was almost halfway through the third level, the best score I achieved was as a sergeant.
