- Highlights of one of the best rookie postseason campaigns ever. Quinn Hughes set the NHL record for most playoff points by a rookie defenseman while also tying the franchise record for longest assist streak in the playoffs. I hate how this video was beautifully created for Quinn and how he did such an amazing job in these playoffs and then everyone has to go and compare him to Makar. Like, this isn’t about who’s better it’s about how well they’ve done. I’m very proud of Quinn. Thank you
Well said!
Crazy thing is that he wasn’t even 100% healthy and still dominated.
What was wrong with him?
Jay Blake he was battling knee and ankle injuries during the playoffs
Isn’t everyone battling an injury in the playoffs?!?! I mean it’s the playoffs.
@@brandongiron1148 Does Everyone dominate as a rookie despite their ailment?
I’m so happy we have huggie on our team. Man was he ever great even what they started paying him so much attention he still battled through like a warrior.
He's already the best defenseman the Canucks have ever had and hes 20. I had Ohlund in that spot until this season. 53 points in 68 games in his rookie year is crazy, considering no other Canuck defenseman in franchise history has ever put up more than 63 points in 80 games (Doug Lidster).
Hughes is a full year younger than Makar too
Still won the Calder though haha
It doesn’t matter
Ok, and? They’ve played the same amount of season
I just love watching Quinn play
Could watch this guy all day
The smoothness of his skating and coolness of nerves reminds me of Niedermeier.
Hughes will be mentioned for next year's Norris.
Agreed

it’s this year :) he did it ❤️
Great video!
Great Hughes video, he was amazing in the playoffs in his first year! Could you also do a Petterson playoff highlight video please? Thanks!
Thank you! I have Pettersson on my list, hopefully it's uploaded within the month!
@@PuckinAround any news on the petey vid?
@@warshawgameshd3432 Brayden Point is next up and then Pettersson is next on the list!

Accidentally almost the same highlights as Elias Pettersson ;)
half of these are pettersson highlights tho..
-2 is not bad when your're facing top line every game...
20 years old and dominating against the defending champions and Vegas...give it a few years and he will be a top 5 d in the league
He’s already a top 5 D man in the league.
Whoever disliked this video must be a hockey fan from Alberta #hater #scared
I know it doesn't mean much, but I'm a little sad that he finished with a -2. He was even in the last game until the two empty net goals by Vegas.
Useless stat but I hear ya. He was a -7 after game 3 after being hurt the first three games against Vegas but man games4-6 he was unbelievable. I laugh when haters say he can't play against big team's yet he was dominant vs the Wild and even better playing 28+ mins against the cup champs. Then vs Vegas once healthy had 6 or 7 points against another big physical team.
His offensive is sublime but he blows Cale and Rasmus out of the water with his D play.
Very few D can control the tempo of a game like he does while tilting the ice, the fact he's 20 and a full year younger than Cale is nuts.
I’m tryna tell people that Hughes>Makar. Maybe Makar deserves the Calder more because he was good from the get go and Hughes took a little time and got better as time moved on. But I’m telling you. He’s better then Makar.
Who cares Miro Heiskanen is better than both.
Brandon Su idk about that.
Mohammed Ibrahim nah Miro Heiskanen is def better than both
Hughes was picked 7th so that’s a sweet deal for us. Don’t care who’s “better” because we have an amazing young defenseman who is a joy to watch.
Sam can’t agree more tbh
He's definitely a great rookie, and will go on to be a fantastic hockey player. But Makar looked better, this season, imo.
That’s a fair opinion. I think Hughes will have a better career but I understand if Makar wins the Calder
Who cares Miro Heiskanen is better than both.
Makar played more protected minutes though. Hughes played heavy minutes in all situations
Respectfully disagree, although both great in there rookie campaigns
They’re different players in different stages of their development who will have great careers. No point in comparing at this stage
