I get what they’re saying but it doesn’t mean that people can’t say there wouldn’t be an asterisk to it…like if we sit down and think who are the top 3 “favorites” to at least make the finals (you can also throw Aaron Brooks at 86), you’d go Dake, Sydner, and Lee. Whether what you think about it, those 3 weight classes have absolute hammers that are missing. Uguev at 57 who is literally the reigning Olympic champ, Sidakov who was PFP 2 and reigning World/Olympic champ and Sadulaev who has been PFP for the last X amount of years. I would be happy either way if they all walked away as champs but to not wrestle the best guys does suck
Olympic wrestling without the Russians has just become a piece of crap, not even worth watching and those who become champions should be ashamed of themselves when saying they were champions. I wish that the other wrestling powerhouse Iran would also decide to boycott the NATO olympics - and they have also reasons, Israel which is committing a genocide in Gaza, killing up - to now- at least 40 thousand people half of them 20 thousand children is allowed to participate as if nothing happened. We live in a really fucked up world. This is just a travesty.
No matter what you say this definitely sadly diminishes a few weight classes greatly. Saduliev was the pound for pound #1 for more years then i can remember and Snyder has not beat him since the Olympics eight years ago and lost to him every time since. Then Sidakov has never lost to Dake and beat Burroughs too and is the defending world champ and Olympic champ. Those are the main two Russians who have proven time and time again their standing and this whole thing is just sad. And it doesnt matter if you beat someone that beat someone who beat you rofl that is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard! Styles make wrestling and everyone is different, to think you could automaticly beat someone because you beat someone that beat them is nuts!
The Russian wrestlers made the correct call not to participate. Nobody with any semblance of pride would participate in an event designed to humiliate you in front of the whole world. Everyone competing under the same rules is an essential part of fair play in sports. The Olympics does not represent fair play anymore.

This might be the first team where ever member has been and NCAA Champ. All but one multiple time champs. There are 18 total NCAA champions on this team. 57 3 ( 4 time aa) 65 3 ( 4 time aa) 74 4 ( 4 time aa) 86 4 ( 4 time aa) 97 3 ( 4 time aa, 4 time finalist) 125 1 ( 2 time aa, 3 if you count the covid year)
We can’t use wrestlers to hype up weight classes and create storylines while at the same time saying it’s irrelevant if those same wrestlers couldn’t show up
I didn't think it was possible for Pyles to get even more unlikable, but somehow he's managed to do it. His consistent insistence in ridiculing any opinion that doesn't exactly match his own stands out more every episode. Additionally, his ultra conservative ass instantly puckers tighter than a snare drum anytime anyone even mentions a new idea. When Ben was there he was able to keep Pyles in check, due in large part to Ben's overwhelming credentials, but now that he's gone it's clear that Pyles feels he is now 'the man,' and everyone needs to kowtow to him.
