Actually, if you listen to CiblesGD’s playthrough of Ribbit, it was always supposed to go from silly to serious but they overdid the jokes up to the second Susie/Lancer battle that it was that abrupt.

When I first played this mod I named myself "YOU" because I thought It'd be funny and until now I thought there was extra dialogue exclusively for that scenario.

I can't believe Shayy just aced the Toriel rhythm game perfectly, meanwhile I got stuck on the damn warmup-phase and then insta-killed by Toriel. Something about that part is just completely fucking me, since there's no indicator when you're supposed to start pressing buttons? I can play very hard Osu maps and somehow THIS is my roadblock in this mod, wtf
they've added a skip option for the game so you can't get progression walled by it, but yeah - it is a complete rhythm game, with Toriel being given 2 or 3 bars and the timing starting on when the bar ends and it comes back to you. There's like, not a visual indication for it at all, and I could see how it could be super tricky for a lot of people. I have the advantage of not only having played this segment before but playing piano for 22 years lol
i'm glad there's a way to skip it though, progression locks on an alternative game style are always really obnoxious (same reason why I'm glad UTY added auto-rhythm in the options)

@@alkimos55 The rhythm minigame is directly based on Space Channel 5, which also had the gimmick of having no visual indicators of when exactly to press the button. Instead, you had to listen to the rhythm of the song, and then mimic the opponent's moves on that exact rhythm. Either way, something I've learned from watching people play this sequence is that clearly, my sense of rhythm is not like others. I think I also just got (un)lucky, because the 4-5 playtesters I assigned to this sequence didn't have much of an issue getting through it, but y'know how it goes, you then release the game to thousands of people and there's now a MUCH wider range of players with different rhythm sensibilities.
But yeah, if you die twice to the minigame (alternatively, playing on hearing impaired mode), you're given the option to either skip it, or play it with inifinte lifes. I was firmly aware that this was not going to be something everybody liked, so I wasn't gonna force it on the player, I just wanted them to at least give it a try.

Ribbit is GENUINELY one of my favorite game experiences I've ever had. Its SO well written and well made and has made me feel feelings i havent felt since first experiencing undertale.
This reminds me so much of Deltarune Repainted. The repainted team stopped making repaints, but I'm happy that their spirit lives on

This is great. It's a perfect mix of chaos and a genuinely great (albeit, confusing) story.
If there's any two things I love, it's reveling in any amount of chaos at all, and games with great stories. It's very rare to see one accomplish both.
The only games that come to mind are Ai: The Somnium Files and Ai: The somnium files - nirvanA Initiative.
I want to clarify that it is spelled that way, and I also want to express that google spelled the game's title wrong by using the incorrect capitalization.

I genuinely like this mod, alot. It's interesting how different it is from deltarune, yet still being a deltarune mod.
And i really hope the project keep's going, cause i'm really interested to see what's gonna happen next. Like, god damn.
The only thing that i just find kinda meh are some of the sprites, mostly those that are just a recolered version of the original, with some exceptions that is.
But even so it's some dope fire mod we got there, and it needs alot more attentions and love atleast in my opinion.

I gotta appreciate how you tried to see all the Dialogue and hidden stuff too! Some Golden lines of Dialogue are easily missed because people forget to talk to NPCs twice (it’s understandable, but still). ^^
A shame you didn’t include the New Game + Ending (because I think that’s the best way to leave the Mod), but this is still great!

Even from the get go I honestly love this mod. All the Sprite work to make You their own proper entity with proper interactions and reactions to everything around them, it really makes them feel like their own character in all of this. I honestly love him, and I love how they play with the Silent Protagonist trope with the fact You can’t speak anyways as he doesn’t know how to speak English

at the time of writing that line, undertale mod tool coding was extremely limited (and i knew basically nothing on how to work with disassembly. still don't actually, that shit's hard), so that's a leftover from that very early period of modding

I absolutely ADORE this mod, and it makes me so happy to see it get the recognition that it deserves. A long time ago, me and a few friends played the mod and loved it all the way through, thinking that it was purely a comedy mod. Of course that was up until things started to get real lol some of us cried at some parts of the backstory. I’m really glad that you played this, thank you!!
