  • An excerpt from the 2021 Courageous Conversations conference. Dr. Charles E. Goodman, Watson Jones, Dr. Nicole Massie Martin, & Dr. Christina Edmondson, moderated by Maliek Blade, discussed trauma from a general and personal perspective and how it shapes our view of truth. The conversation also touches on the topic of whether God requires trauma or suffering of Christians, and the importance of assessing our role in causing traumatic effects on others.

Truth is God's way to navigate through trauma! Otherwise trauma will capture you in bondage.

@oldschool5 “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humanity.” (Psalm 118:8) There are several other scriptures to back this up. Google if necessary. Mens' hearts are desperately wicked. We are capable of all kinds of otrocities. Every guilty death row inmate is just a few circumstances from being you. By grace and mercy we are spared and by the Spirit we are lifted.

So the Pastor quoted "God never promised to heal the broken hearted" but God's word says in Luke 4:18 (KJV) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
If we don't believe that Jesus CAN heal our broken hearts then what's the point in believing in Jesus as "Savior"

I definitely understand what you are saying, but that whole text is pointing to salvation that’s why it starts with - “He sent me to preach the gospel to the poor..”
All the signs and wonders he did; was to the end that people receive Him not literally physical healing.
I’m not saying, he does not desire for us to be healed, but it’s not the promise…He is the promise. All things will be done with on the other side of Heaven.
      Good day 🤍

    • @Ann_0103
      @Ann_0103 Před rokem

Also, in the scriptures “the heart” is not the physical heart, but refers to thoughts & emotions etc. Hence, in Ezekiel 36 - it’s prophesied he will give a new heart.
Now does he literally give us a new heart, and turn our heart of stone into a heart of flesh? No, he gives us his Spirit which then transforms us- that is our thinking, desires, and emotions etc.
Should you stay downcast, angry, sad all the time? No, you have Gods Spirit with in you which produces joy, kindness, and faithfulness. So, regardless of the opposition, the mistreatment, death and destruction around you. You are to keep your eyes and heart fixed upon Him, and you will walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

I find the discussion on PWI very intriguing especially being a native of Canada, because sometimes I feel like I don’t belong in all white institutions.
But the exact same scenario for primary black institutions, I go through the exact same thing. So both have the same issue which is sad, but thank God we don’t look at man but Jesus Christ.
I have never attended an all native congregation but I bet the issue is still the same.

So the gentleman said “truth is what you believe irregardless of the facts” …No Sir if the sky is blue (and that is a objective fact) and you believe it is red then I may have to question your sight. When Jesus saw that the man’s (I see men as trees) sight was still off He fixed it. This is why I do not rock with the my truth stance, we conflate how we feel with what is true.

Mythology/religion is accepted upon belief and faith. History/Science is accepted upon facts and knowing
Mythology/religion has supernatural punishments for nonbelievers and supernatural rewards for believers
The supernatural punishments and rewards dont exist when dealing with facts and knowledge

@@oldschool5 For me… I start with is God real? Is there a divine architecture? Or is all of this time plus matter plus chance? How can things materialize without materials that were already created? Did God prescribe to relationship or religion? We’re all the scholars and historians wrong about the factual data in the Bible? Is Jesus the son of God or is he crazy?
Then to the pontius pilate question….what is truth? He asked that while standing in front of Jesus (The way, truth and the life). … More often than not that is exactly what we do.
      I don’t lean on religion, I lean on relationship…
Please do not waste your time posting your answers to these questions but if you feel led please contemplate them. It was a pleasure.
This life and walk toward God is a journey that I fear I have just begun.

@@deejames2257 I have already contemplated these questions for years. And based on my findings I feel that we have the wrong concept of god... and none of these precisely designed marvels we have on earth point to any god that man has ever introduced to you. The things on this planet that sustain us never relied on man for creation nor have they relied on man to make themselves known to mankind.
We know and need the sun on day one but we must wait for man to tell us about the existence of Maat Allah Odin Santa and Bible God.
I feel the best way to learn about a creator is to study the creation. And If the creation dont need man then why must the creator rely on man?

I look at healing as a LIFESTYLE not sonething that happens in a moment. Especialy emotional healing.
Yes Jesus healed the man that could not see or walk vut Im sure they had to steal deal with the post mental.
Or even look at a person that loses weight but still look at them selves the same as before and will have to adapt their thinking

Recognizing your deconstruction of your beliefs/ faith as a result of trauma is not delusional your perspective does not need to be corrected. If you recognized Christianity as harmful to you and a part of your trauma there's nothing wrong with your perspective that's your reality therefore it is truth...
