Correct you need to bring a nice bit of cash with you to move here and prepare immediately to save to buy a house as it's much cheaper to buy.

My adult children are trapped, rent is so high they cannot save, salary so low they cannot get a mortgage, so they are going to emigrate. Ireland has always been a country to emigrate from, it has happened over and over again throughout history. If anyone can buy a house in Ireland after two years they must be very high earners.

    • @jgdooley2003
      @jgdooley2003 Před rokem

@@CinCee- The cheapest homes in Dublin now cost about €300,000 and homes in desireable areas in South Dublin can be twice that price. 1 bed apartments are not much cheaper and will cost about €250,000. Depending on your lifestyle choices moving to outer suburbs will entail a commute of more than 1 hour each way at peak times so many singles prefer to stay in the city and share their lodgings to keep costs down. This is not good for couples though. Childcare can be very expensive.
Housing and affordable healthcare and childcare are now red-hot political issues and the cause of much anger and resentment among the native Irish.
Those people who have travelled to Canada, Australia and southern UK will see similarities in dear housing and not be surprised.

Current Inflation is being driven up mostly by fuel prices,
If we switch to Nuclear power and give greater incentives to buy electric cars (including subsidising and prioritising lithium battery production) this problem will subside substantially over time.
Also, many countries are going for the practical short term measures of taxing fossil fuel company profits to discourage extortionate profiteering..
Overall though, Society’s rejection of Nuclear power was a massive mistake, and the environment has payed dearly for it as we continue to rely on fossil fuels for our electricity

I'm planning to move other country I am thinking between Australia and Ireland. I am now here in New Zealand. When I watched your video, I realised Ireland has much more expensive cost of living than New Zealand it's probablly I'm living far away from town where I can cultivate my garden and I have my own car.

The rest of Ireland is more affordable than Dublin & based on cost of living calculator online - Auckland & Dublin are similar except for rent. Good luck moving abroad! 👍🏻

Well, usually, the places with the highest costs of living, in the World, are, also, the places with the highest quality of life/standards of living (in the World); but that's a very vague statement. Take countries like Denmark, or Ireland, for example: both countries have some of the highest costs of living in the World, but they, also, have among the highest quality of life/standards of living (in the World); one difference that stands out between the two countries, is how to cover the astronomical costs of living associated with living in Copenhagen, or Dublin. Most Danes who don't live in Copenhagen (but would like to live there), would not experience/have great difficulties in making the move (partly because most salaries/wages are some of the highest in the World, and partly due to the extensive social benefits that people could use to make the move); and while most salaries/wages in Ireland are comparably high, in many (lest, most) cases, they fall short of matching the costs of living in Dublin (and the social benefits in Ireland are not as extensive/helpful as they are in Denmark). As a result, over the last 20-30 years, Dublin has been experiencing (an increasingly severe) housing crisis, manifesting itself in (seemingly) perpetual shortages of affordable housing, and the (growing) incidence of homelessness.

Yeah, the type of job is important, but, perhaps, even more important is (the country) where you come from (I mean, it can make A World Of Difference whether you come from a country within EEA/European Economic Area, or not), and/or your connections to Ireland (i.e. were your parents/grandparents born in Ireland?! Do you, currently, have any family/relatives living in Ireland?! And so on).

Thank you for this informtive video
So we can say the cost of basic living for a family of 2 parents and 1-2 children may cost
    rent 1500€
    Utilities 200€
    Food 300€
    Transport 130€ per parent
    Insurence 70€ for 2 parents
    Child minder 240€
    Total of 2440€
Is that right? Or it is too high calculation?
