    This is amazing. They do all this on a shoestring budget without the benefit of a whole entourage of people supporting them and pushing them like the tennis players have. Paul Coll will be close to the top of the rankings in a few years I have no doubt.

    • @Brad-xr7gp
      @Brad-xr7gp Před 7 lety +1

      Do they really make that little? Does a player make money for reaching day a QF,SF & F or do they only take home any prize money for winning?

    • @Siatkowkarzadzi
      @Siatkowkarzadzi Před 7 lety +8

      They earn money for every round but... The prize is the overall budget for awards for each stage of the tournament. I think Greg got only $48K out of $325K for winning World Championships

    • @ShellysAshes
      @ShellysAshes Před 7 lety +4

      And when you compare that to what tennis players make in comparative tournaments, I think you earn a similar amount for reaching the first round of Wimbledon as you do for winning the PSA World Championship!

    Great player, and if he either makes number 1 OR has a long injury-free career then the cross-fit style weight training will be a "game-changer". However, he is 25 years old. If he keeps progressing his lifts, will his upper body be too big for squash at 29? -- Federer serves harder than Nadal and will likely have a longer career, despite very little chest and arm development by comparison. Of course this is small sample size and there are too many variables that go into producing a squash world no.1, but I'd bet future number ones will still look and train more like this guy:
    czcams.com/video/7GqhqmYjMpE/video.html
    than these guys:
    czcams.com/video/c-OneETiJ-U/video.html
    Palmer and Dittmar were big, strong guys (and Mosaad now) but I wonder if they intentionally restricted their upper body mass during their playing careers...They rarely could handle Jansher and i don't see Omar beating Farag much 3/5. Stay lean and lithe, Superman...

    I personally think doing heavy weights makes your muscles stronger but you lose fine agility,
    If you notice Paul's shots, his ball control is quite horrible, what do you guys think?

    • @QuasiELVIS
      @QuasiELVIS Před 7 lety

      I don't see why it would affect your ball control but it would make most people heavier and thus slower round the court and less flexible... that's obviously not a problem for him though.

    • @sitarhead1806
      @sitarhead1806 Před 7 lety

      Yeah Paul is quick,
      I've feel the bulkier your muscles, the lesser fine control your mind has on them - look at Jansher Khan's physique.

    • @stilusfractus7930
      @stilusfractus7930 Před 2 lety +1

      I don't know the exact reason but, anyway, squash hadn't lent itself too well to be televised until recently because of 25-30fps broadcast standard and resolution. The ball was simply both too fast and small. Actually, it still is, since most viewers don't own fancy new TV screens.

    • @stilusfractus7930
      @stilusfractus7930 Před 2 lety

      One more possible reason comes to mind: until recently squash wasn't that fun to watch (many squash players argue that it's still boring to watch live). Until 1990 the tin was higher, until 2015 it was still higher for women and the double yellow ball (or the white single yellow equivalent for glass courts) was introduced only in 2000. I guess the traditional (before 1996) scoring system, point on serve only, didn't help to bring the sport to the masses.

    I don't mind the "concept" of music during slow-motion-training videos, but could you guys try to find music that's a bit less "lyrics" filled in future? Hearing the same "I feel like a ghost" line over and over is really weird and distracting. There's techno out there that doesn't have heavy-handed lyrics. Maybe try Royksopp or better yet - Vitalic, this song would match well with the training/improvement vibe - czcams.com/video/4Fpj4YTyR-k/video.html
