      Argentine side look confused. Specially their mid and defense. They were playing so carelessly, passing aimlessly throughout the game. Even when they conceded the two goals Argentine defense looked careless, they weren’t charging them or putting pressure on them. It almost seemed like they didn’t believe Saudi could convert those chances in goal. Serves them right for underestimating their opponents. At least they have a chance to make amends for their mistake by winning the next two

    Saying the high line is easy to deal with is like saying it’s something that shouldn’t be implemented. All these players faced teams with a high line before and lost. The only reason they say it shouldn’t matter is because it’s “Saudi Arabia” even though they implemented the system better than a lot of big clubs.

      Argentina got found out today and when they get pumped by a real team like Germany or Spain who press better and have better players then all the Messi fans will realise their love for him blinded them and they forgot how average this Argentina side is without him and in their unbeaten run they only played 1 top 10 nation in terms of rankings so idk why Argentina were the favourites for the tournament they have a weak backline mentally and quality wise and an average midfield their attack has talent but Di Maria and papu are past it and that was there for everyone to see today they will get found out mark my words Saudi played well and exposed Argentina’s weaknesses on the ball and all the space behind their fullbacks for counter attacks s alone needs to stop using 442 otherwise later on they will be screwed

    • @niranjanrajesh1058

      High line is far easier to deal with than anything else. When man city faced liverpool at the etihad last season they abused liverpools high line but they didnt convert their chances. The game ended 2-2 because city didnt fi ish their chances and liverpool were experts at offside trap. These saudi dudes had no clue howbto implement it,they barely did anything to implement the offside trap,itbwas often the argentina players being dumb and completely forgetting that offside exists

      @@niranjanrajesh1058 Stfu with that Saudis had no clue how to implement a high line. The precision with which they held their back line was phenomenal. They took full advantage of their physicality and their defence and offensive line was so compact that Argentina's midfield just disappeared. Messi was disappointing in the match along with every other player save for Di Maria and Lautaro. Argentina's passing was like a Sunday league team, no creativity, no triangles, I saw so many spaces where a player could have moved in to create plays and then disrupt the Saudi backline with slick passes and quick transition but all that happened was slow sideways passing and a bunch of nervous lads who cowered under Saudis intensity and aggression. Saudi executed their tactics to a T and Argentina played like a pack of anxious amateurs. They need to fix up their tactics or else it's goodbye to the world cup dream.

  • @znhait
    @znhait Před rokem +330

    Two of Argentina’s biggest weaknesses came to the fore today. The first one is the lack of elite athleticism, especially in attack. Saudi Arabia could have never played such a high line against France or Brazil. They would have gotten destroyed. Argentina just don’t have any fast attackers. The other weakness, if one can call it that, is the fact that they’ve basically gotten ahead of every opponent during their unbeaten streak; they’re not using to chasing a game. When they were finally confronted with such a scenario, they didn’t know how to cope.

    It's funny that Di Maria said "Argentina could easily beat Saudi Arabia 5-0", taking in consideration the disallowed goals, missing the entire point of KSA's play system. Renard of Saudi Arabia had implemented a high line defense system with an offside trap that once was forgotten among coaches, and it worked successfully in the first half seven times!! So it's not about luck and wasting open opportunities, it's about a working system which made the Argentinean all over the place in the second half.

      I've been saying this for months and no one pays attention to me, of these 36 games without losing, only 2 games were against Brazil (the Copa America final with a not very exciting victory by 1-0 and a game in the qualifiers by 0-0 and Brazil was without several players) and the game against Italy by 3x0, the other 33 games Argentina was clearly the favorite in all because it faced weaker opponents

    Tournament football takes Messi out of his usual comfort zone and he never seems to handle the pressure. Take Mbappe for example. He seems to strive on the World Cup stage and performs like the superstar he is. Messi closes in. He seems to shrink because of the expectation. But if Argentina do somehow get out of the group and qualify as runners up, they seem to be on track to meet France next in the round of 16. And just like 2018, it looks as if once again Superstar Mbappe will break the heart of the under performing Lionel Messi.
