Totally agree with this. I've been a twisted natural for years, and I realised mini twists were not my thing because my hair would just grab any opportunity to tangle and loc. So most of the time, I just have about 8 chunky twists, and that works well because I have fine hair 🙂 Keep the videos coming, you're doing great! 🎉

I've learned over time washing in twists is definitely not for me. The tangling is horrendous but it's probably to do with my twisting technique. I've got better and more confident over the years, but some of us are more gifted than others and I've had to accept the limits of my ability. Even washing in mini-braids leaves me with lots of ssks at the ends which leads to midshaft splits in the vicinity. Now I finger-detangle with some kind of prepoo, carefully wash in 4 sections, then braid in 4 under the shower. I allow that to dry overnight or semi-dry then stretch with my revair. Then back into twists or whatever style. My hair is so much happier now.
@@TheMiss600 i braided from root, down about 6 intertwines, then started by 2 strand twists. I have a problem scalp so I usually take them down and wear a twist out for a couple days when its looking a total mess. But if I have time I go directly under the water.
@@TheMiss600 my hair used to be the same when I washed in twist so now I learned that medium size is better for me. I wash once a month or every two months in these twist then I re twist right back after washing. I went from bra strap to waist length . This is my second time at waist length. I had a set back earlier last year now I’m manifesting tailbone length.
I had minitwists the whole of last year and my hair definitely grew, however i didn't like the fact that after every washday i had to retwist my hair so i decided to try minibraids this year and i love them. I am onto the 3months challenge and this is the 2nd month i haven't rebraided my hair and still looks great given the fact that i wash my hair every 2 weeks.

Twists is the game changer for sure!😉I love it when I take down the twists, my hair is curly, soft and lovely.😍 I take my twist down when I'm ready to do a really good scalp wash and deep conditioner. So yes, twists are the way to go. I twist from the root myself. It's good for stretching my hair. Thanks again for all the great information. You're doing a great job! 👍 ❤

I did chuncky twists similar to what Lauren Hill wore back in the day. Loved them. But I get bored with the same styles and techniques easily and like to switch it up to keep doing my natural hair interesting and simple.

I love the way you describe the aesthetics of mini twists. I feel exactly the same way! I have worn twists since 2013, when I big chopped. But, for many years I was a twist out girl. For about two years now, I have become comfortable in wearing my twists, mainly tucked in, in simple styles, much like I wore as a child…. Your suggestions for how to care for our hair are perfect for the mindset I have today. While I have not made it to a month between wash days, I am now washing my hair every three weeks and loving it!!!

I tried twists. My hair just got a chance to lock up 😂. And it happened twice! So I said nah, I'll just stick to braids.
Yes, braids are time consuming 😢
But they keep my hair more stretched than twists.
And at least I could keep my hair in the braids a bit longer than the twists.
So yeah, I guess I'll just be a braided natural 😊

I'm currently wearing a twist which i plan to carry for 3months. I'm already one month into it and I have seen growth, although i do spritz with water every 4days and apply the chebe which leaves it moisturize for almost the whole week. Can't wait to see how much growth i would retain at the end of the 3months challenge.

Im trying to do small to medium over mini to micro twists. Though I'm looking into small to medium braids.
The takedown is the worst however the metal part of a rattail comb has SAVED my hair, my length and most importantly, MY SANITY and has allowed me to continue to do small braids and twists without extensions.
I find braiding the root, then twisting down works best for me a conbo of both, each time the length of the braid chsnges before twisting up. When hair gets a bit longer, will chsnge up from braid twists to full braids.
As part of the challenge like Coily Diaries says hsve 2 styles (for me twists and braids) and go between the two styles for the remainder of the year while using my gyclerin rose water and castor oil combo (THHHHHEEE TRUTH BABY!) For everyday moisture then use leave in for weekly hydration and deep conditioner and hotoil for deep hydration.
Keep it simple (telling myself this!) and my hair WILL flourish. Ase

@@CoilyDiaries something that also drastically helped was me changing my mindset about hair. Though I use it here, I try to not use negative language when talking, doing, or thinking about my hair. I've found I'm much more patient, gentler and lighter with my hair when I actively think more positively about my hair.
Mini twists look great, and I love them on other people. I'm only good for about 6 to 8 large twists and I'm done that uses up all the patience I have for twisting!😆 After that, I pinned them up and kicked myself for thinking it would be different for me this time. I do okay parting from ear to ear, twisting the top and bottom halves, wrapping them around each other, and pinning them up. It's easy and I can handle it.😉

I've always been a fan of twists, for the past 3years I have been doing twist. I only do braids maybe once a year. Right now I'm on a braid challenge but I'm definitely looking forward to go back to my twist😄.

I tried mini twist in January and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not for me because the installation takes time and you have to be patience when taking it out. I’ll stick to braids and medium twist

Try doing larger twists, mini twists are not for everyone.🙋 Figure out which size of mini is your mini twist, if that makes sense.😉 I had to play around with my hair and create my own mini twist size.😊 Because I did them too small and it caused lots of breakage 😢 Anyway good luck!🤗

The tip of stretching the twists after a washday and retwist after it dries in that stretched state sounds like a win win for me. I will try that and update u on how it goes because I have been experiencing some breakage retwisting while damp after washday 😢

Quick question. Does your hair show any residue after you remoistirize? I am noticing like a very translucent layer of product after I am done. It isn’t white flakes but rather just like a clear/white liquid
Do you mean like excess product? Yes! Dries out though and nothing is left.

Its me, I do tiny tiny twists😅 I dont have time (they take me almost a week to complete) but once I start, I tell myself its better to finish because takedown will still take me time, so better to use that time by installing more twists. Short term pain for long term gain.

Ive been mostly twisted for 20 yrs. Just tried braided roots and it gave me 3 wks instead of 2 before it became my usual fuzzy look. Im gonna skip the new glycerin concoction and see if changes the wear.

While I ❤ your channel and follow regularly, I find that no matter how small my mini twists are… they unravel when I wash my hair in twists even when I braid the roots. Any recommendations? I have fine strands medium density type 4 hair with a,b and c types all over my head.
mine unravel too. I just retwist the ends. do yours unravel all the way? guess it depends on the length of the hair too ?
I love minitwists but the con factors put them in the "once in a while" category for me. I do find it helps to finger coil the last two inches or so to keep the ends intact.

probs best for wash and gos since you have to use plenty of water
I find with twists that my end get knotty and I have to cut them off. 😢
That’s common if you have fine hair, very small twists and the pieces don’t align all the way to the end
I learnt from indigenous strandz to use flaxseed gel it freezes my ends and i never encounter knots unless I am reluctant
