Made in Pokemon SoulSilver and Platinum versions. Ethan's team is based on the special Pokemon obtainable on the journey through HeartGold and SoulSilver (starter Pokemon, Red Gyarados, Sudowoodo, ExtremeSpeed Dratini, Eevee from Bill and Togepi from Professor Elm). Leaf's team is based on her manga counterpart's team, as she never appears as an NPC in the games and thus has no canonical in-game team.

As a kid I used to imagine Mt Silver as a huge mountain filled area with Pokemon level 60 and above, with wild Charizard and Ursaring being the most terrifying beasts, with the Charizard valley (whatever it was called) nearby. I got very disappointed as a 12 year old

I agree . Ethan was predictable on the match. Leaf had some slight level advantage on the match. Ethan acted like Gary Oak too confident on the match. Red on the nature of fan knowledge can be interesting. Thumbs up.

This is getting really intriguing. I like how Leaf is the perfect counterpart to Red. They share similarities, but there are different complexities to them both, as well. I always find it astounding that a lot can be deciphered from Leaf's silences by her opponent, Ethan/Gold. I hope to see a Past Steven and Champion Stephen Vs Past Wally and Future Wally battle in future.
you know...the pokemon team missed a good chance for leaf in the hg/ss games.
they could have added the sevii islands and give her an exclusive island where you go to the bottom of the ocean and find her on a little garden.
that way you get blue at the middle land, red at the top of the mountain and leaf at the bottom of the sea.
also since it's the bottom of the ocean, you could probably find lots of weird shit too like phione and manaphy.

It's kinda a shame that HGSS never thought of replacing Red with Leaf when the player plays as Lyra. I know Red's iconic, but the Johto remakes feel like sequels to FRLG, as opposed to the original Red and Green/Blue.

personally, I suspect that Red (and possibly Leaf due to the implications of this vid) should not be judged by the level of their team only. With access to Dialga's time distorting ability, I think they may be able to limit their power by using an incarnation of their Pokemon from earlier in their growth in order to provide a more even match. For instance, Red v Tobias had Red using a Lv 50ish team when earlier ones had his team in the 80's... Of course, another possibility is that these battles are being in non chronological order, which could also be easily explained by Dialga.
