Could you please explain any time, why all of this shops and companies are Closed??? Instead of show the thousands of shops closed!!!
@@LeoMetalTravelerMany thanks for your work.
It would be great if the time of day was mentioned or displayed.
Why are all the stores closing? Are they all buying online or are the rents too expensive or are all the top earners going abroad?
Online shopping and street conditions
You should make an APP to mark every closed store in red. And you can see an overview of all the buildings!!!!

People need to see this and what Newsom has done to this state!!!
How?
@@BR-ex9xp
The insane minimum wage. The high energy costs. Tall the new regulations. Banning gas cars. Most of the Trucking industry has been blocked in this state for insane regulations. Which means everything moving in this state, from the food you eat to everything else is more expensice.
Newsom is a big fat liar. Even with facts proving otherwise he just lies or doesn’t answer the question.
@@BR-ex9xp I think you missed the intended sarcasm.
@@BR-ex9xp I live in the Bay Area and like knowing that certain areas are less safe than others. I don’t have to drive around and look for myself.
If everything is closed, where are all of these jobs the President keeps bragging about? Things don’t seem very good anywhere sadly.
Border Patrol to help the illegals into the country.
In China!
Internet based business has destroyed pretty much most ways we knew to buy/sell goods, with so much more accessible online, many jobs went the way of the new internet business model. I'd bet more jobs in the shipping, delivery, warehousing, distribution and related channels to replace retail.
The jobs postings lately are fake there has been reports about corporations listing fake jobs just to hold potential employees in case they wanted to fire one of their longtime regulars, google it
@AB-vc7ox Those jobs are being automated away to where only warehouse and distro jobs are left. And the current demonrat policies towards criminality means you either get robbed into bankruptcy, or close your shop and sell and leave before you do. Between that and all the artificial wage inflation, fewer jobs, not more and better paying.
Thank you for risking your safety to show us “Boots on the ground” in that area. Small business is SO important to communities.
Germany is drowning in immigrants. We are happy to give some away if you have so many free properties.
I know it's not funny, but we're in the same boat as you. All NATO countries are being torn down like the USSR was back then.
The fence company is doing well
Lol
And spray paint makers.
Even in affluent cities in SoCal there are increasing number of vacant storefronts. Not withstanding all the crime and homeless, California’s anti business, regulations and high taxes are slowly killing small businesses.
Don't forget the online retailers
Don't know about Richmond, but Oakland & Berkeley are also driving away business by making it near impossible for people to park where businesses are.
Exorbitant parking rates don't help encourage folks to come, either.
slowly?
It is not just small businesses, but ALL investors. CA is at war with the investors.
But you do have a czar that tells really good lies to the msm corporation who props his scurvy ass up.
Nobody says the word “CLOSED” better than this guy ❤❤
For sure - meanwhile I watch his videos also for ASMR reasons, very soothing and relaxing

Yes, that Albany San Pablo ave area used to be so nice. Thank you for sharing.
@@LeoMetalTravelerUnfortunately, things are no better in Germany . The government is simply a demolition squad. Prices are rising sharply. Large shopping centers are being closed and the minimum wage remains low. But we'll need another 18 months or so to get to the situation you're in. Industry is moving away. More and more climate protection. Only 30 km/h is allowed in the cities. If cars are allowed in at all. Many cities are being converted into bicycle streets... What are you talking about? 6 years ago? You'd be in real danger during the day time walking around Richmond 30 years ago let alone 6 lol.
@@SpookyFow The San Pablo Ave/Albany area he filmed isn't really considered the Richmond you're thinking of. The hood hood Richmond is different from the commercial area (shops, restaurants, theater all now closed) shown in this video. Oh I'm aware of Richmond. Sadly, a couple of my cousins were murdered in Richmond.
Growing up as a kid in NYC, California was a place of DREAMS for me. My parents took me to CA on a vacation and we went all the way up the coast from San Diego to Los Angeles to San Francisco. It was the BEST place in the world as far as I was concerned. I later moved to Santa Monica for a summer in the early 1990s. Had an amazing time. I even enjoyed Sacramento when I worked for a company based there in 1999-2001. Every time I’ve been back to visit since then it’s gotten worse. From SD all the way to SF. Sad! 😢
Sacramento is good now.
Yes, Unfortunately it’s getting worse especially in the last four years. Thank you for sharing RJ
Agreed, I'm a 73 year old born and raised in So Cal. One party government has killed Calif. I remember when I was proud to say I lived in Calif. Now it is an embarrassment. It's over state income tax just passed a raise from 16% to 19%. They are so out of touch with the reality of their surroundings.
@@chaunceywilliams8405 I recall when my children were young. I would keep my body between my children and a Californian. Most Calis don't respect children. I got the feeling they wanted to kill my son.

My Son and Daughter in law Escaped from Califeces in 2021! They were sick of oaying 45%taxes. They're business owners . Didn't blame them
I am a former Los Angeles business owner. My late husband and I escaped from California in 2003. Idaho is a far better place to live and do business.

Yea, Richmond looks like Selma and Montgomery.
California is too big to manage, the only thing they get right is raising TAX , creating new taxes, fines for companies, regulations .... It shows how small business friendly is by the spray paint

When towns and cities are so run down and empty, it really brings the morale down in the people who live there.

Next I'm not familiar with. But the street address is NOT Richmond. Oops, Google says its Berkeley
Missouri Lounge is a bar located at 2600 San Pablo Ave. in Berkeley, CA
Next is also 2 cities over in Berkeley Berkeley Berkeley Berkeley
You are doing a great job. DeSantis should have brought you on stage during the debate.
Looks like Chain Link Fencing and Board Lumber seem to be doing pretty well, oh and Spray Paint Too. Insurance Company`s can be added to the list of culprits that created this..
You’re right about insurance. I have 15 years driving with no claims no accidents and Geico refused to insure me. They won’t outright say they don’t want to insure Californians in certain areas but its clear thats what it is
Exactly!
So why do you still live there..
If you're capable.. GTFO
To see such widespread devastation is really depressing. The current yoyos in office need to be sent packing by the voting public.
Many of those vacant spaces could be put to good use.
Nice tour as always,Leo.
You're a lot better than the sh**stream media.
Peace,brother. 😎👊
@oscarmadison8530 yes, it’s really looking bad in this areas and there were some parts I didn’t have access to for safety reasons, but I’m planning to use a drone to go explore this areas, thank you very much for your constant support and for remaining a member of the channel. Take care Oscar
No place in America should look like this.
The crazy part is normies walk around oblivious and think everything is fine. Never seen anything like it.
The public CHOSE this. Democratic republics give their voters what they choose. The voters ruined CA by voting Democrat.
THIS IS THE END RESULT OF "TRICKLE DOWN."
4:40 Meanwhile In California 💥WE ARE ARMED.💥 Yep, with motion detectors.🤣🤣🤣
I like when he says "CLOSED"
I used to work for an Orchard Supply Hardware which was owned by Sears. Wasn't there long enough to see the bots and didn't know they did that till now. Could that be part of why Sears went bankrupt?
Good to see that somebody that used to work there watched the video, to see its current state, lowes took over afterwards, and that was the final chapter of the story for OSH
This will be everywhere soon.... The economy is going to be worse than the Great Depression.
I would expect this in Venezuela but not in America.
On a happier note, walk down Solano Ave in Albany. Virtually everything is open. You won't see any tents either. What's interesting, it's not that far from downtown Shattuck where most store fronts are closed. I just noticed the other day that the Walgreens on Shattuck is closed.
No housing for low wage workers.
I worked at the Montgomery Ward on MacDonald Ave back in the day. Used to eat at the Wendy's around the corner.
Montgomery Ward brings a lot of memories. Thank you for sharing.
I learned to drive in the Toys R Us/ Wards parking lot. And my husband and I bought our wedding bands at Wards.
Looking like Oakland.😮
Check out down town Martinez.
Will do. Thank you for the tip.
I grew up in that area. Used to go to JJ Newburys and Mervyns. Played baseball at Davis Park. Spent plenty of time at "Home of the 10 dollar tire".
Moved to Idaho to escape the coming zombie horde.
That whole shopping center was vibrant back in the day. I miss it. I think it's all townhouses now 😢
Is the Hilltop mall still a thing?
@mdemartile Nope. It's gone unfortunately.
Remember when Richmond was very nice 34 rs ago
This is also indicative of the switch to service industries instead of manufacturing. We used to build everything in the USA. Now we take in laundry and turn out hamburgers. No money in that.
Appreciate your videos. I lived in the Bay Area and Northern California in the late 70’s and early 80’s and it was actually wonderful areas to visit or live; at the time….the SF 49’s dominated the football world😊……. So sad to see how bad it is, now in 2023…..😢
Indeed , even in the 90s wasn’t too bad as it is today , Thanks for sharing
Wow!! That was an impressive walking tour. I had no idea that online shopping had such a devastating effect on local businesses. I would venture to say that Richmond, CA is not the only downtown that's been affected this way. Thanks.
All major downtowns have been affected, thank you for sharing
Great reporting as always Leo! 👍🏼👍🏼
looks like the only bussiness that doing good is the "National fence company"
The only businesses now in these areas that can still stay open and operate are those with armed guards protecting the business.
Years ago my brother was a mechanic for UPS, a very high paying job. They transferred him to Richmond. After driving over there to investigate the area, after being told by friends it would be dangerous for his family, he told them he was not willing to move. There were bullet holes in all the windows and drivers were getting robbed at gunpoint. They would not rescind the decision, so he quit. As a truck driver I can tell you, stay out of Richmond and Oakland, especially after dark. The same people who are destroying every major city in America have done it here. Remember Detroit and Gary, Indiana. RIP.
Really sad. I lived in the Bay area in the 90s, and Richmond was a nice area. The government of CA has turned much of the region into an open festering sore. It had started in the 80s. In the 90s, tourists were already sending complaining letters to the S.F. newspapers, describing how they had to carefully step over human waste, used syringes, and unconscious people lying in the doorways and on the sidewalks of even the Best hotels and shops, and that they would find some other place to vacation.
My old home town. Worked and lived there for 10 years. So sad to see but this is happening everywhere.
Is not happening in Florida.
@@celestecarrera2963 Florida is worse! Do not come here!
This guy is a liar, an idiot, or BOTH?
Lets go over your deceptive video, shall we ;-)
I'm not familiar with the Ashbot building.....but what you show in your video looks EXACTLY like the old Orchard Supply. It's the only building with that color scheme. that close to the freeway, and in a brief glance to the left of it you can see the strip mall. It also has obvious signage saying, Public Storage Coming Soon.
Indus Food Center I'm not familiar with....but Google says it's TWO TOWNS over in Berkeley....prolly why I don't know of it.
Jackson Hewitt....See that HUGE BRAND NEW condo complex to the left of it? Guess what's going in where this building is?
NEK insurance your actually correct about. How you make the oddly shaped, tiny corner building look so big, I really don't have a clue.
Orchard Supply. How did you manage to video it and not get any of the signs that say "Public Storage Coming Soon?
Trevinos didn't survive COVID, like many restaurants around the country and world.
Little Angies and the business next door has been closed for some 10 years. The entire building is only 3k sq. ft. The owner doesn't want to see as property along San Pablo is going for TOP dollar (did you happen to notice ALL the new 5 story condos/apartments with retail space on the ground floor?)
10262 San Pablo, been close forever.
Past Time Hardware. FULLY open and selling MORE hardware than the Home Depot down the street. Rather irrelevant though as it's in the next cite over (El Cerrito). Front windows have been boarded up since George Floyd.
Gold Center....AGAIN, NOT in Richmond. TWO towns over in Albany
Next business, ALSO in Albany
Your HUGE bar and restaurant is actually the bowling alley. IN ABANY. Unfortunately it didn't survive COVID. And being 2 or 3 blocks from the police station, I assure you, if the alarm goes off the cop will be there in seconds.
Xin Change Tech . Also in Albany
Galvin Appliance move up the road to a larger building. They just couldn't handle the volume of business in that location. ALSO, its in ALBANY, NOT Richmond
I don't know where that theater is, but the address next to it, 1113, is DEFINELTY not in Richmond. Google puts it in Albany. DUDE! The sign even says, Albany
Subway is in Albany
Restaurant. The address (1200) can not possibly be on San Pablo in Richmond
Next building, next to Tokyo Fish market is TWO cities over in Berkeley
Next I don't know and there`s no identifying images in your video. WAIT! San Pablo European, the business next door....IS IN BERKELEY, 2 cities over.
Next one (1511) the street address is NOT in Richmond
Next, also in Berkeley
Elm. No idea, sorry
Next 1475 San Pablo....Berkeley
Next is a BRAND NEW 5 story condo/apartment with ground floor retail. Haven't had time to rent them out yet. And it's in Berkeley
Same as the last....even says BERKELEY on the window.
Next....NOT Richmond again....I pretty sure it's Berkeley as they're the only city with brown street name signs. Funny, this is the same building you showed as the 3 one at the start of your garbage video.
Indus Foods. That was your 2nd building at the start of this bull....in Berkeley. And the restaurant next to it, guess what? It's OPEN!
Next, Berkeley again.

Richmond has pride, you should of seen it 8 years ago if you think this is bad.
I didn't see one junkie, police car or EMT in this report.
Keep up the good work.
None of these store were in Richmond, all El Crrrito and up!
100% agree with your leasing philosophy...
« Good luck with that! »
There must be people living up stairs on those closed shops
Thank you for these videos of the towns and cities of the Bay Area. I grew up in the East Bay, and it is so strange to see San Pablo Avenue in such bad shape. Richmond's heyday passed a couple of decades ago, because ever since it lost the character of its small downtown business architecture and walkability, it has been on a downhill slide -- but COVID and the rise of online shopping seems to have knocked it in the head. I wonder what will be done with these acres of 30-60 year old ugly, cheap rectilinear buildings surrounded by parking lots. They can't be used for anything. They are not saleable or salvageable. Someone with vision could go in, raze everything, and start fresh with smaller, mixed use housing, parks, restaurants, and online-plus-retail-store-front shops, but "good luck with that."
Thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful comment--a rare treat these days.
Sounds like you are asking for "smart cities" which is exactly what the Soros crowd wants.
@catyronwode What a positive comment, that’s what we need like you said somebody smart with a vision to start fresh and see a turnaround of the city. Thank you very much for sharing.
Real estate developers are buying everything up to put in condos all around the Bay Area. There is a lot of relationships between construction, developers, and politicians. Its happened already all over other areas such as some parts of Hayward, San Leandro, San Jose, I've seen it a lot. In SF they try too, but have more trouble due to corruption about pollution cleanup--that is an interesting story in itself, for anyone that is interested. If things are going up or going down, the rich and powerful always make money.
Let's Go Gavin!!
The 1st 4 minutes or so you were in El Cerrito. Trevinos has been closed since 2017. Little Angies has been closed since 2010.
Great leadership from the Governor!
You're a great reporter

Great videos the only real news available.Gavin has to be proud of his accomplishments.
Leo: you do a great service to us all with your honest videos. Many blessings to you from Minnesota.
I appreciate that
Richmond, CA. The place where Henry Kaiser established his fortune. Brought in refineries, shipping and ship building.
Crime has always been a product of Richmond. Google Richmond and the 1960’s events. You may be surprised. Especially near where it meets the City of San Pablo, and the Oakland CA connection.
The '60's! Took prayer out of schools. DRUGS flood the nation. Movies go even more violent. Music goes faster & harder than ever. Porn becomes more mainstream.
But yellen said our economy is robust and we can support 2 war at once.
I’m 40. Been living in the Bay Area my whole life.. I never go to Richmond.. Ever
Your comedy is infectious especially the Mexixan Cali accent. I had a plumber once from South LA here in Dallas. His name was Nacho. He talked just like you, slow and deliberate, then chuckled
The mandates for the pandemic forced businesses to close here in long beach,CA some streets are ghost towns but it isn't as bad as the bay area. For a city of about 450,000 that is a tourist destination it should be crowded here in downtown but it isn't.
Agree. Drove down PCH through Long Beach. Lots of closed up shops.
It's sad to see for sure, not that Richmond or many other working class communities around the bay that were a part of the WWII effort ever had much going for them, even as far back as the 70's.
edit: how about checking places like downtown Walnut Creek, Danville, Napa? That's where people started moving early 80's to escape the City (SF) and crime ridden working class communities around the bay.
Michael who has a real estate blog, walk and talk visited the Bay area/ southern Cal, for a month. Rented a house. He toured some nice small towns/small cities across the bay from SF. But he never ever visited SF, Oakland, etc. He values his life to much. Many places had a view of SF in distance. He loved the weather, but would think long and hard before moving there. He lives in the Miami are of Florida.
Those are some pristine towns in Contra Costa county, Sonoma is beautiful also.
I had a client who bought a new condo in Richmond They moved far away after just a few years.
Well I heard about it but this is the first time I'm actually having someone show it to me. This is so sad.
Do you think this is America 👿 anymore with the borders wide open I'm beginning to wonder sadly 😢😢
Look at all that lost tax revenue they would have gotten from all those closed business’s. This is insane.
My Army Reserve unit used to be in San Pablo. And we had major problems with having our vehicles broken into. It got so bad that we were having to go to hotels over 30 miles away just to sleep in an area that would see several of us having our windows broken or cars stolen.
There is a reason so many that used to live there are now gone.
Thank you for sharing, Leo. ♥️
It is amazing how much closures each of these cities can sustain even though all these businesses are gone.
When I watch these videos I just wonder how long it will be before these cities reach a breaking point. 😒
Where they going to get the spray paint?
The WUHAN LAB? 5:27
I used to grow up around there . I was born in San Pablo and it always been going down hill . Moved out to the Central Valley at age 13 because school was bad out in they Bay Area
I was born and raised in Richmond and it has always been a very unsafe place to live. As a teenager I walked Sab Pablo Ave from San Pablo to Oakland, and it was never that bad.
It’s doesn’t surprise me. Living here near Sac people who had to work in the bay and couldn’t afford to live near the city had to live in Richmond or the east bay. They all moved here near Sac or in the valley or foothills. Lots of Bay Area transplants in the Sac suburbs of Roseville Elk Grove Carmichael Folsom etc… downtown sac maybe dead but other areas are booming…
Thats El Cerrito,Albany, and North Berkeley.
You know I really appreciate what you do because I can't imagine the sadness that it probably brings seeing all this in person everywhere thank you for your the time that you've been doing this videos and if they're very important so people really know what's the real truth about our country
Like, commented and shared. Thank you for all your videos. You show a different story then the politicians and the news
