  • This week, our beer explorations take us to Denver Colorado to review North America's most established wheat beer brand - Blue Moon.
    Blue Moon Belgian White is a Belgian-style witbier brewed by Molson Coors under the name the Blue Moon Brewing Co. It was launched in 1995. Created by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver, Colorado (owned by the Molson Coors Brewing Company), where it is still brewed today.

    As a recent emigree to Canada from Ireland this exquisitely labelled draught beer tap attracted my fancy...but like the beer itself it was very quickly a flat experience...acidic, oily and as Joe said...what's the point in sucking on a sardine when the Weinstephaner sharks are circling out there...great scoring by the dudes...and enjoyable watching Alessandro getting very quickly drunk...well, he is a skinny guy...less body mass...greater immediate buzz...lucky blighter!!!

    I agree that it's a good beer but of course I'm drinking it right now. I actually enjoy it for what it is. I would rate it a solid 2.5 out of 5. Great review guys and thanks for sharing it. 🍻

    Cool idea to sponsor future videos! I drank a lot of Blue Moon in college, but it’s not my favorite. To me it’s a tad too sweet. “Belgian Moon” sounds like store-brand Blue Moon, haha

      Hahah it really does sound like that, doesn’t it. That’s pretty much how we always perceived it too.

    The first time I had this beer was after eating dark chocolate, and the beer was just okay. The second time I had this beer was after eating sausage, and the beer was amazing. My conclusion is that what you eat before drinking the beer can greatly influence how good the beer is.

      That’s such a great point Bill. Some beers really do pair well with certain foods more than other and what you eat before can have a huge effect on the beer experience.

    I remember when they first served these at Coors Field (wasn't old enough to drink it then) it was a big deal and such a special thing. I never drink it anymore. It isn't much competition for the imports, but it is nostalgic.

      You hit the nail on the head there. It really doesn’t hold up to German Weissbiers at all, but it does have nostalgic value for a lot of people. The fact that it’s really accessible everywhere in ever format is a plus for them as well.

    My buddy just recently turned me on to this brew and he said the same thing about the orange it needs it or else it isn’t a blue moon

    I know there are better witbiers, but this one has so much nostalgic value for me. Having a bluemoon outside on a hot summer day is pretty epic. All those "intangibles" lol

    What's the stuff at the bottom of the beer I just had it and it's got some stuff in it

    • @BeerBrackets
      @BeerBrackets  Před rokem

      I had the same experience with mine! Noticed it after the review. Assuming it’s sediment from the beer being unfiltered, but still looks sloppy. Have never seen that on another beer before.

    I actually Love Blue Moon, and while people say "Don't Fruit the Beer" you aren't doing it justice without the Orange Slice.

  • @filmscorefreak

    Part of the issue is I believe they ferment this beer with a neutral American ale yeast, so there's nothing Belgian about it. Made for people who don't like beer. And please retire the "hweat" jokes lol.
