Long time ago, i was a seaman. I went countless ports & places all over the world. i know the life of one but it's only a seaman who understand the story of a seaman and ordinary folks can not relate what is it really like to be one.
My advice, fast track your career, save most of your money and invest it wisely. Do not fell into the trap of spending all your money coz of the homesickness/boredom or that's-what-I-deserved and whatever reasons... Do not get old spending your whole life at sea, don't waste your whole life serving shipping companies and made them even richer. You can be rich in your own way.
I ended my career after 12 years when I was a chief mate, I was 33 yrs old. Now I run my own business, own a house and a piece of farm, invested for retirement, and most of all, being with family and FREE like nobody can stop you.
Life is too short. There's too many beautiful wonders in this world to spend you life with NOT just at sea.
I wish everyone 1 can do the same I'm almost 20 yrs now at sea still can't have my own business. Good on you bro
@@czar7507 i guess it's a matter of changing your lifestyle. I myself only realized after 6-7 yrs that I have no savings. I used to spend all my money coz that's what I entitled to (coz mahirap trabaho sa barko, bawi sa longkot, etc.) whatever reasons that has drained all my money.
I then started to be very frugal even telling my family and friends that I am saving money coz I'm retiring early (no more grand pasalubongs, eating out, gala to the max, etc., and they understand). So I saved the last 3 yrs and used it as capital money. I really set a goal of retiring early and be financially free and have FREEDOM as a whole. But still, changing career was the hardest part, you'll fail a lot of times and there were times I regretted (sana nagbarko nlang ako). But I tried to be resilient, NEVER gave up my dream.
In the end, it's up to you. "If may gusto may paraan, if ayaw may dahilan". If I can do it, why can't you, dba? Good luck!
Your story is Inspiring, I do hope that someone I knew would do the same thing.
Sobrang proud ko sa kuya ko kase siya nagbabayad tuition ko na pagkamahal mahal at nagpapadala ng pera para mabayaran mga utang at pang maintenance sa tatay namin. Mag 6 months na siyang nasa barko, unang byahe niya kaya Alam ko na nag aadjust pa siya at ginagawa niya lahat para lng sa Amin. Saludo at proud ako sa lahat ng nagtatrabaho sa barko.👍🥰

I am so proud of all the hardworking seafarers just like my dad who passed away last year who was a Chief Engineer. He died because of cancer at the age of 55 years old.
Thank you for showing us what seafarer’s work like be, I realized it wasn’t easy. I want to finish college so my dad in heaven would be proud of me because he worked hard for me to finish my studies ☺️
Yes, this is indeed a life of a seafarer . I remember my dad who is a 2/E and is currently in Manila right now for another contract which made me sad because it is gonna be another year of not seeing him but I am use to that because since I wasn't born he is already a seafarer . A big salute for all of you for I know how difficult your work is but for the love of work and family you are still standing strong .

It's 2021 before sumampa ang boyfriend ko, napanuod ko na to. Ngayon, nakasampa na sya, pinapanuod ko parin to. Lahat ng sinasabi dito totoo. Minsan may barkong walang signal. Ilang days pa bago kayo mag usap. Dapat ang pipiliin din ng seaman na partner yung strong.

Seaman si Papa. Palagi kong tinatanong sa kanya ano ba ginagawa sa barko pag seaman. Lahat ng andito tugmang tugma sa lahat ng sinabi ni Papa. Sobrang hirap pero gagawin lahat para sa pamilya. Mabuti nalang at umuwi si Papa nung 2011 at hindi ulit sumampa. Keep up the good work Paps!

Ngayon na realize ko kung gaano kahirap maging isang Seaman.. Hindi biro ang pagod sa trabaho ang lungkot at home sick at gatos sa internet hehe. Akala nila pag seaman ui malaking sahod ui mapera di naiisip ng ibang tao ung hardship na dinanas bago maka uwi ng pinas ang isang seaman. Salamat sa pagiging isang inspirasyon! :)

Now i understand what “mahirap ang trabaho ng seaman” really really mean. I thought it was just a hard level 3 but it was on level 99 already. This made me guilty from making “tampo” to my “friend” pag hindi sya nagrereply agad sa mga chats ko. From now on, i will make his day full of perseverance and hope in the world of “ayoko na. Tagal pa kami uuwi. Miss ko na family ko”. Kapit lang! Andito lang ako/kami 😃 ahoy!

I salute and respect all the seafarers dahil lumaki ako na yung mga nakikitira sa apartment namin halos seaman. Mga pinsan, inaanak at anak ng mga kaibigan ng Tatay ko. Yung Tatay ko hindi seaman pero related pa rin sa barko ang work niya dahil arrastre manager sya noon.

after watching this video i realized that it’s not all about the work..it’s all about how we maintain still to have work & life balance in all aspects.., either your a seafearer, an IT proffessionals, call centers, doctors, soldiers, etc..no work is easy as 123...every work or professions has their own descriptions & sacrifices involved.😊just a thought.

A real view of the seamen's life,but life in the ship,also depends on the nationality and the level of the life that you leave behind you.
Because Filipinos have always a positive attitude but also is a poor country except Manila.
So they can be very happy in the ship,much more than other nationalities but also the level of the country that they live is low,so finally is normal for them to be.
Because Philippines has many differences from a developed country,even if seamen are rich there,the average Filipinos are poor.
But when the whole Philippines be developed,the infrastructure and everything else will be improved, we will see clearly how many people will be happy to choose this job and this kind of life.

And although i know he's enjoying the travel, I know it gets really lonely, especially if he misses special occasions like birthday, Christmas and New year. I hope mas maraming seaman ang magdocument ng life nila, para naman alam ng mga pamilya nila yung situation. Nakakatakot na kasi yung mga marinong bigla na lang nawawala.

I been an ofw in landbase for 9 years but never had a chance to work in seabase. I was tried at magsaysay to apply in retail cruise ship which retail is my expertise but did not get any luck. I already have my seamans book, cop, and bt maybe these requirements I got is only serve as remembrance. Because of disappointment I ended up applying in Qatar government in oil company retail as well. Got the job offer so I did sign. Maybe God has other plans that I have to consider. 😇😇
