“The Future is Written” Sermon by Pastor Greg Laurie
Rapturous Nuttiness: Well, Pastor Laurie misrepresents and misapplies Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32, saying that Christ does not know the day and the hour. These two verses were never meant to be literally applied to Christ as He knows all things (John 16:30 and 21:17). But let’s assume, Christ does not know the timing but knows everything else. He is God after all. I would at least hope that you would agree with that, even though you take away his deity, saying He does not know all things, even when the Bible plainly says He knows all things. Okay, so He knows everything else. He knows when the last convert accepts Him down to the last second…wouldn’t that give Christ the year, the day and the hour-this is how ludicrous it is for Laurie to literally apply to these to verses to Christ. Thus, you would then have to say He, Christ does not know who/when the last convert is and He’s got His head stuck in the sand somewhere, singing la, la, la, la-I don’t want to know. By you literally applying Matt 24:36 and Mark 13:32 to Christ is hypocritical just like the Pharisees and Sadducees back in Jesus’ day--the leaven of the Pharisees of which Christ rejected. Furthermore, it shows He does not know and understand Scripture.
The year is given in the parable of the Fig Tree and Psalm 90:10: a spread of 10 years. A spread of possible years for the pretrib rapture can be gleaned from Scripture. The initial two clues are found in the Parable of the Fig Tree (Matthew 24:32, Mark 13:28 [Below]) and Psalm 90:10 (Below). The key to unlocking the treasures within this end-times parable is understanding the meaning of the phrase of "summer is near". When was Israel reborn? Israel was reborn on May 14, 1948, a time before and near to summer. So, this parable is speaking to you about the rebirth of the Nation of Israel. Let us continue to unpack this parable. Verse 33 means that Christ is near, at the doors. Verse 34 in Matthew talks about "this generation". What is "this generation"? "This generation" is defined in Psalm 90:10, a Psalm written by/attributed to Moses which is very important. Moses was figuratively raptured in Exodus 19:16-20, 24:16-18. Christ then used Moses to write about the rapture in the Old Testament, a prophecy that will be fulfilled in the end-times.
The year of the rapture is gleaned by identifying "this generation", speaking of its longevity which is given as between 70 to 80 years, which is an average lifespan today. So, just add the 70 and 80 years to the year that Israel was reborn and you will have the timing, relating to "this generation" which is 2018 to 2028. A ten-year span of time that the pretrib rapture will occur. There are only four possible New Moons left when the accursed children (2 Peter 2:12-15) are cut off and His holy Christian nation (1 Peter 2:9) then flies away (Psalm 90:10). Both the accursed children and His Children will be shaken out of/brought out (Job 38:13, 21:30 [NOT raptured (Psalm 58:1-3)]) and up (Joel 2:1-11) and caught up (raptured [Rev 12:5 and Isaiah 66:7-9]) into the clouds, respectively.
The day is given in Leviticus 23:23-25. The next feast of the Lord to be fulfilled is the Feast of Trumpets (FOT) (Lev 23:23-25), a one-day feast, occurring on the first New Moon after the fall equinox. The Jews usually celebrate over a period of 2 days and the month they celebrate is sometimes off by roughly 30 days, occurring usually before the first full moon after the fall equinox. It took two Jewish witnesses, seeing the New Moon to start the FOT. However, the FOT is His feast day, His appointed time. Therefore, FOT will begin, based on the celestial timing of the New Moon, not by the viewing of the New Moon by the two earthly Jewish witnesses. This gives you the day, a day that only occurs once every year.
What about the hour? The hour is given in the twinkling of an eye. Just ask a knowledgeable Jew. This phrase is known and applied to a certain part of the day. The hour can be found in another Jewish idiom/colloquialism: "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye" (1 Cor 15:52) which can occur every day if the atmospheric conditions are right. The sun dips below the horizon and then seemingly a small sliver of the sun rises above the horizon. This dipping and rising of the sun apes a blink of the eye. Thus, the idiom/colloquialism. This must occur quite frequently for it to become registered in Jewish history, as an informal Jewish cultural idiom/colloquialism. So, when does this occur on a daily basis? Approximately 6 PM Israeli time. This gives you the hour.
This is why the statements in Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32 have been so misinterpreted and misapplied for many decades now, being literally applied to Christ, as if the creator of the universe is unaware of the day/hour of the pretrib rapture of which He is the conducting Bridegroom with His holy angelic army. So, it's a lie that Christ does not know the day/hour of the rapture. We know this, as He knows all things (John 16:30, 21:17). Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32 was given to His disciples, as they understood the Jewish wedding ceremony. So, Christ was just using it as an analogy, because He was going away, and then would return at a later time to take His Bride away to where He is at, His Father's house (John 14:1-3). The phrase was used in this way (only the Father knows), as it was tradition for the father to pay the dowry for the Bride. The Father would then have the controlling interest for setting the day/hour which the father usually kept to himself. This can clearly be seen in the heretical movie, Before the Wrath. Now, in the Christian's case Christ paid the price for His Bride when His blood flowed on Calvary. Therefore, using the same logic, Christ would then have the controlling interest on the day/hour, a time known among the entire Godhead.
As Pastor Laurie has promulgated this lie on at least 3 occasions (the law of three in the Bible [Christ questioned by Satan 3 times; 3 measures hidden in the Parable of the Leaven; 3 assaulters in the Parable of the Good Samaritan; 3 denials by Peter of knowing the Lord]), he has separated himself from the Lord, requiring the below necessary steps (Revelation 3:18, 3:20) according to Scripture: he must ask the Lord to anoint his eyes with eye salve such that he sees Him again (as Satan blinds his traitorous converts [2 Cor 4:3-5]). And zealously repent of one’s heresies, lies against the Lord, against His Word (Pro 30:5-6, Psalm 58:1-3). Then, he must say a new salvation statement unto the Lord such that the Lord comes in and sups with him and he with the Lord.
Pastor Laurie must diligently seek Him, as He is a rewarder of one that seeks Him. (Hebrews 11:6) And, as all have gone astray (Psalm 119:176, Isaiah 53:6, 2 Peter 2:15), falling from grace after accepting the Lord. To renew one's fellowship with the Lord, say the prayer in Rev 3:18 and 3:20, as the Lord abundantly pardons (Isaiah 55:7), bringing you back into fellowship with Him, Who had initially saved you, just like He did with Peter. Christ is waiting for Pastor Laurie. Thus, he must bow his head before Him with a contrite/broken heart/spirit (Psalm 34:18, 51:17) for any lies spoken against Him, against His Word. (Psalm 58:1-3, Proverbs 30:5-6, John 12:47-48) He should not be too proud to not do this, as pride goes before one's fall into the Pit. There is still time. But time is running out.
I think this little bit is enough for now, throwing so much wisdom to the vomitous male dogs and unwashed female swine. Please study and pray.
Though, I am willing to teach, if this strong man is willing to turn at the Lord’s rebuke and pass on what he learns to his congregation of which has also been taken captive (Jer 13:17), to do Satan’s will (2 Timothy 2:26).
I am a watchman on the wall for my Lord Jesus Christ.
