What seems to be missing are Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunications and Robotics where Japan ,China and USA are making rapid strides. Also, why is there no mention of innovations,like, Elon Musk's Tesla Electric Car or the POD that travels on magnetic lines in a vacuum at the speed of an aircraft? Why can't IIT take the initiative to invent or create or experiment on something like Elon Musk's POD? China has made a bus that travels covering both sides of the road,with a vehicle underpass through the passenger transport vehicle(bus). Is Space Science not a part of IIT? Is there a separate institution for that? Europe has CERN , particle accelerators and they discovered the BOSON, the God particle that may be an explanation for the creation of the Universe and for Dark matter. BOSON is named after Dr. Satyendra Nath Bose, the great Indian Scientist, who should have got the Nobel Prize. Why does IIT not do research with linear particle accelerators and with radio telescopes? How does research and development divide between IIT, Universities and Industry? Also, IITs should either integrate or be a catalyst for the Defence sector where there is a race across the world. Further, it's time to have separate independent institutes for promoting cutting edge Bio-technology , bio-engineering as an inter-disciplinary and independent field of study and research. Why is India still importing technology from South Korea, USA and Japan? Not a single mobile phone of good quality that is 100% indigenous. The silicon chip is developed abroad. Why can't India not make passenger planes? Material and Chemical polymer science doesn't seem to be significant in India. Why can't India have something equivalent or better than Google or Twitter or Facebook,etc? Also, why is missile and fighter aircraft technology still being imported? See the great reasearch being done by the US Navy and by European countries. Does IIT have a world class Department of Aeronautical Engineering? Has anyone ever addressed these questions?
Travel Time 53 fund IITs, they will make better things than US and Japan put together because Indian minds are the best but they just need funds in order to avoid obstacles in their path. Also without proper funding they are achieving great heights so think after proper funding what they will be able to do.

A department of legal studies will also help in IPR issues for Researchers of this institution.

Please establish a centre for industrial and technology aesthetics. That will help in making smart cities, smart clothing worn by people, smart buildings with aesthetic colours. The School of Architecture gets no importance. Aesthetics should be a separate subject that should cover textile designing, architecture, roads. urban and rular environment. In UK and other countries the engineers are making walking paths at multi-storey level complete with trees,plants and roads. Also, Germany has made theaters with glass domes under the main city roads. Sorry to see IIT ranked not even in the top 100 globally. What is the reason?
