  • Watch the complete build of the 1/12 Ford GT40 Mk.II as raced in the 1966 Lemans race - featured in the 2019 Ford vs Ferrari movie. This large scale Trumpeter model is much inferior to Meng's version in terms of accuracy but there are still something good about the model. In the coming videos I will try to use my modelling skill to enhance this kit so that it could compete with the Meng's. And I will also make this model in its 'battle damaged' weathered look that is similar to what we always see in the photos and in the movie. The video also features the unseen footages of Part 3 episode the showcase the dirt and grime transformation during racing in Le Mans.

    That is by far the most realistic weathering Ive seen on a car model, brilliant!

      Nice work. May I ask the ratio of the blue paint is 95% Mr Hobby 323 blue to 5% white?

      Thanks !! Love to hear that I could help! I was also doing experiments as this was the first time to do road dirt weathering and glad it works out ok. Will surely to use it on my of my future race car builds .😀

      @@henschelporsche1 Well it definitely worked out perfectly will definitely try your weathering technique on a future build. What airbrush and mm nozzle did you use for the weathering?

      Thanks for your compliment, I am just ok and not as great as other master builders, still learning😄

    What a great build, wish I could come close. Have a weathered 1:18, also very nice. 👍🏻

      Not an easy kit to build but the price can compensate its shortfall 😏

    Lovin the look. It makes a great change to see a car that feels as if it's been raced hard n covered with oil n grim. Which airbrush do you use?

      Thanks? I had hesitation when applying the dirt on a perfectly shine car body thinking it would ruin everything. But I think it turns out much nicer than leaving it clean. It certainly gives the car a character and its age.

      The airbrush I used for dirt was iwata Hi-Line HP-BH

    Fantastic build I have this kit that I’m going to start soon I think I will keep mine clean did you have any issues with the build

    • @henschelporsche1
      @henschelporsche1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks! Yes quite a few issues as mentioned in my videos. Mainly the fit and warp after painted/ cleared , the quality of the decals especially the tire ones, the inaccuracy of the parts, the fragile hinges of the rear cowl- but even all that you have to love their price😂!!

    I strongly disagree that race cars should never be cleaned. After a race it is important to clean the race car in order to better inspect the car fordamage. That said the weathering job is more suited to model railroading than model car building.
