Sweet videos!! That first fish was nice! I just got a 5lb+ fish this weekend and it makes up for the days you don't catch one!
The brushhog (especially baby brushhog) are probably one of my favorite baits that I go to and expect to catch fish consistently. Good baits.
Great job... I fish ponds in Dublin also... Dublin does a good job ... Have caught large mouth , hybrid stripper, cat fish, and blue gill.... Your videos have got me motivated to fish more... Love it. :) 2 lb PBLM. Will keep trying to get large ones.....
jonkara01 glad you enjoyed em, fish on brah! and nice job on the PB, now u gotta beat it xD
Keep up the good work Mike!!
I'm from central Ohio and just saw your videos for the first time. You have a new subscriber man
Still love watching your old vids
Great video! Nothin better than a big bass!
I've fished a lot of the 64 stocked ponds in Dublin, but I don't recognize that one. Nice fish
"I gotta pull out those plastics today" lol i know the feeling.
great video!!! i really miss these conditions and id do anything ti be out on the water now.
Thanks, and same here, which is why I'm going to Florida at the end of feb XD
Excellent footage my friend
Great videos keep up the good work
You know it’s 1rod when he says “holy mackerel “
Just watching some fishing videos while waiting for the lakes to melt 😫
Those bass that you catch a lot, the 1.5 to 2 lb bass, do those normally range between 15-17 inches if they are healthy? I catch a lot of fish that size and want to be able to guess there weight more accurately
Watching ur vids lately, pretty cool vids. Just subbed keep it up boss.
Nice Work bud!
Bruh no joke you are the reason I got back into fishing you inspired me so much
trevor kilgore glad my vids helped you get back into fishing, now go catch some hawgs!!!
I looked everywhere near 5700 muirfield dr for a dumbbell shaped pond. There are lots of ponds in that area, but none that look like the one in your video. Weird.
Lol it went to Zoom super fluke to a zoom brush hog😂😂😂
this is sick its like first person fishing
Awesome video!
I'm strapping on my GoPro and going here after work!!! Thanks!!
+1Rod1ReelFishing do you know of any other good spots within 10-15 miles of Dublin?
Loving the videos, you fish any waters near westchester county, putnam or dutchess county NY you can recommend f9r monster bass?
Nice fish dam I want to go fishing but i'm keeping them, yum good and tasty looking.. No hobby fishing here.... just woman catching and eatin..LOL
Lol! I wouldn't dare eat anything out of these NY water in westchester county maybe dutchess or putnam. I would be grilling salmon from the salmon river
You said below this pond was in Muirfield. Was this on the golf course or a neighborhood? I live in Hilliard, OH and have fished a few Dublin ponds but it's so tough catching anything anymore.
Tyler McCullough It was next to a swimming pool and houses are on 1/4 of the lake, not a golf course pond. Shaped like a dumbbell on google maps with a bridge in the middle
how, where do you enter without going in private yards or golf course
Wish you lived in MA I'd show you some great spots
Nice bass, those are hard to come by for us living in these northeastern states.
growing up it was hard for anyone to catch a 5 pounder, but with better regulations on our waterways ive noticed the increase in the size of bass, and different species of fish getting stronger and healthier, of course the scioto has an edge over the olentangy, since they just detroyed it around the campus area, i hope that this restoration project will in the future, help to get the smallmouth population back to when it used to be back in the 50s, they say it was the best in the midwest, well see, great videos 1rod,
Them shoes doe
Looks like you have the offset worm hook clipped to a barrel-snap swivel? I usually tie my line straight to the hook, do you find this setup makes a difference with line twist, or just a lot faster to switch baits?
Edit - OK I see you have a pencil weight also tied on? Why do you rig like that instead of using a bullet weight like a Texas rig?
Edit#2 - Oops I made the first comments before the end of the video when you show the rig. But I could not see very clearly, do you have the hook clipped to the snap swivel or tied...and the weight is also just clipped or tied (hard to see the line and the knots against the background)?
Just curious since you are catching fish and I like to try all different set-ups. Maybe do a video showing a bunch of different rigs and how you tie stuff on?
vamp9190 Thanks for watching! So I use a snap only, mainly for ease of switching baits while I'm on the water (I'm kind of lazy :P). I dont use a bullet weight because that would require cutting and re-tying my line. The solution I found is to open the snap, slide in the tunsten pencil weight, then slide the ewg hook in too. This presentation is different than a texas rig and behaves very similiarly to a "jika-rig." I can also change baits and weights within seconds anytime I want to make adjustents.
OK perfect explanation, makes sense...the metal snap, hook, and weight probably make a clicking sound underwater too, when you pop the bait, so that may also help entice the fish.
Hey that's next to my house if you're ever back in Dublin I'd love to fish with you
Where is this pond at in Dublin i am in Groveport
great video man! that first bass was a pig!
It’s pretty crazy that we don’t even have to know who’s video this is..just need to see that casting action!!
I actually live really close to that pond. there's some monsters in there.
I'm wanting to get into a bait casting setup. What would you recommend.
How much is your budget? The best combo for the money would be a lews baitcasting reel in the $140 dollar range and a bass pro shops bionic blade for $80.
what size hook is that
Hey man great fish. I've fished that pond when I was visiting family litterly 5 min away from the pond I caught around ten the 3 times I went but all dinks this blows me away. Should have used a brush hog there was a ridiculouse amount of weeds every where
Do you use mono as your backing? If so, how much?
+WiredSolaris yup I do, I usually fill half the spool with mono backing
you every gonna be at santa cruz ca
Hey Mike! Nice catch man. I caught a 4 pounder the other day there with the smallest worm possible it was messed up. I don't know how you catch so many! I need some training from you man. Lol
Congrats on your 4 lber! Sometimes down sizing baits is key on tough days or cold fronts. I forgot so I have your cell number saved? I can't remember your name.
I been looking for a decent place to fish near Hilliard. Havent had a lot of luck at Municipal. Any other suggestions for a quick fishing session?
Beaver lake next to prairie oaks metro park, this pond on muirfield, and there's a small pond in Dublin on brand road
8 year old video I’m just now seeing this damn I’m going have to make a hour drive to fish this area
What is better brush hogs or baby brush hogs
Hey 1rod1reelfishing what's the best bait to use when you can't seem to get the fish to bite? I have a pond by my house and I'll throw anything near or in front of them and they'll swim by or swim away. It could be in their face and they won't bite it 😩
+Heather Angelotti if you see the bass they probably see you and are spooked. When bank fishing, stay off the bank about 10 feet back and make casts to bass you while concealing your presence. Try finesse baits, like 4" watermelon seed trick worms or live bait would work too good luck!
why when i cast sideways with my baitcaster does it stop mid cast? im using 30lbs braid
Where is this pond at in Cleveland
What color of brush hog
Where on muirfield was this? Any landmarks around? I live in Dublin and am looking for places to fish.
Check for a dumbbell shaped pond on muirfield road, sorry I forgot the exact address lol
What snaps did u use? And where can i get them? Thx, u got me back into fishing!
Crapycrap Glad you enjoyed my vids! snaps from bass pro shops, "bass pro shops fast lock bass snaps" size #1
Do you use different rods for different bait or do you just use one your in the mood for
Blaster2000 before i would just use 1 rod for everything, now i own 5 rods so I match the rod to the bait a bit more now
If you don't mind my asking, but which pond in Dublin were you catching these? I live in central Ohio and I'm always on the lookout for new places.
It's in muirfield Ohio its shaped like a dumbbell on Google maps, gl!
1Rod1ReelFishing This looks like a residential area, is anyone allowed to fish here? I might make a trip of it one day to hit a couple ponds in the area.
I found the pond and yeah' it's on private property. I'm not sure how strict they are about letting just anyone fish there.
Yea
I need to know where this is I live in Cleveland
my brothers caught a 5 lbs bass on a paddle board and that same year (counting the one he caught on the paddle board) he caught three 5 lbs bass
Are you using a drop shot weight with your brushog?
Yeah I was using a cylinder drop shot weight and attaching it to my snap for a make shift jika rig
Ever thought about throwing a shallow square bill crank bait in there? I think a KVD 1.5 square bill would kill in there. Or is there too much algae that I'm not seeing lol.
Yeah I'd love to throw that but way too much algae. I can't even drag plastics or it gets mucked up, gotta hop em. When the water cools and the algae dies ill try the squarebill!
I'm trying!! I got a vid to edit tomorrow man! 10 subs so far. I just started last here so I'm still getting used to it. Takes awhile to edit vids lol
Buckeye State Produces!!
I would never guess anything along Muirfield would be public fishing
U ever fished the Jesse Owens park was called aep rec land n Ohio by Cumberland Ohio lil rustic but yeah check it out my pb is 9 4 n this area not biggest Ive saw n that area she was 11 n change my buddy caught n mounted
I go fishing at that pond all the time
Where is it at? I tried finding it and couldn't would you mind helping me out?
where do you purchase those clip weights at
+Danny Herrington those are cylinder tungsten weights, I get mine from tacklewarehouse
Hey dude I tried finding this pond around 5700 muirfield drive and I could not find it.. And I want to go try out this pond could you help me out any?
Yup that's me bud
I have cought one that big on a blue gill
that is the place is where i fish
its funny you Said you Just switched to "zoom super fluke"and it was the brush hog
What part of Dublin my biggest bass I have ever caught was a 8 ponder in my dads friend pond chillicothe oh
i was there yesterday come back to ohio and fish with me and friend aidan
which state has the best fishing Maryland or ohio in your opinion
elvisf1335 Hmm tough call, IMO maryland is better for largemouth bass and striped bass and ohio is better for other species like smallmouth bass, muskies, saugeye, flathead catfish, and carp.
I go fishing there all the time but never catch a whole lot
What pond is that I’m from Ohio?
Hey 1Rod! Have you ever thought about tagging the fish?
+Misty Truong thats actually a pretty cool idea haha, I wonder where I can get my own tags
What brand is the reel? & what size pole?
Tim Ervin team daiwa zillion type R and pole is a 6' 6" medium heavy rod
How much money do you think that setup is rod and reel added up together
My zillion type r was $400 and my g loomis glx which I bought over 10 years ago was $350
Nice
You said super fluke it was a brush hog x'D
Can I get directions to this place
Bassmaster13 its around 5700 muirfield rd, dublin ohio looks like a dumbbell on google maps with a bridge in the middle
If you find yourself missing good bites on an ewg hook try to bend the point out a little bit not much bit just barely enough to notice. Reason being is that the hook eye is directly in line with the point of the hook and if the fish doesn't get the bait just right it will slide right out of the fishes mouth. Lake fork guy has a video about it and if I'm not mistaken gene Jensen aka flukemaster on CZcams has a video similar but just tryin to be helpful good luck!
Logan Dean Thanks for the tips! Very true what you said Mike Iaconelli has his own EWG vmc hooks with a 3 degree offset already built in similar to what you're describing
Hey bud what rod do you think is better the Abu Garcia villain rods or quantum exo Rods there the same price
I Haavent used either but the villain had better review on tacklewarehouse so I'd go with that!
I have both I just got the quantum EXO 7'0 medium but I should have went with a medium heavy tip is really flimsy
Use it for crankbaits and jerksbaits 3/8 ounce and less or weightless soft plastics
What are good things to use in warm water?
Paul Dondero bass are typically more lethargic in warm water, give em a slow presentation with a jig or plastics like senkos, brush hog, or super fluke
you can fish with corn and get the same results in the l that pond. These fish are under no pressure what so ever.
We're do you fish have you ever fished in Iowa
Lindsay husband ohio maryland, pennsylvania, new jersey, never been to iowa!
How do you know what to use
Gavin Kaschalk lots of experience through trail and error! When I was younger I would sometimes fish 8 hours a day and maybe only catch 1 or 2 fish. But everytime I got skunked I learned what not to use and through process of elimination I can now figure out what baits are going to be effective whenever and wherever I fish :D
How do you have that brush hog rigged?
daniel Armijo texas rigged (texposed), but also my version of a jika rig (snap + cylindrical tundsten weight + hook with brush hog)
Cool thanks alot.. Just started fishing this summer and have learned alot from your videos...
I love that you put the location of the places you fish. I struggle to find good places to fish at and your videos have given me a lot of good fishing spots.
When did he include it I missed I am still watching 7 year old vids
