  • Since the launch of my DIY arcade kit in 2013 I've made a few new models. I designed four different Mini Arcades that were available as DIY Kits. All of these kits can fit a Raspberry Pi (B+ ,2,3) and run with RetroPie.
These kits are discontinued and are not available. I am leaving this video up so consumers can see where arcade 1up and others were inspired.

Well done - love all of 'em. I built my first retro cab about 15 years ago using an intel pc board and various mame components. The big old 21" VGA monitor was housed inside a box that could turn 90 deg to accommodate upright and horizontal games.

I'd really love to see a bartop modeled after a Japanese candy cab, such as Sega's Astro City, that also allows you to rotate the screen like you can on the real thing.
There was someone out there who was selling a bartop like this but it wasn't reasonably priced, last I heard a lot of peoples' orders were never filled, and crucially didn't support rotation of the screen.

i think what you need to do is revive the old arcade and make a new and modern style and modern arcade that people can still play old game mix with then new one that is way better and awesome if you can build that will blow all of the people's mind like a luxurious portable arcade mean with better speakers and 40 inch led with UHD and HRD display that runs 128hrz led buttons left and right has a button for playing ping pong and more light on the that would be cool

Great build man! I love the artwork! A couple questions I would love for you to answer.
    1. Is there a way to get a 2-player back to back with the jamma board? (2 machines, 2 monitors)
    2. Do you make any other older arcade artwork? like the SEGA Astro City design?
    3. Could you use Sanwa Joysticks and buttons on this??

I see your buttons are concave, like old games had. But 2 questions:
    1. Are they the same width as the classic arcade buttons?
    2. Does the microswitch make that annoying clicking sound? (UGH).

Track ball; how about the spinner for Tempest -- is that available on a multi-game chip & console? I've seen a trackball used on a Centipede arcade game, but Centipede is generally an available option to begin with... I haven't yet seen a spinner for Tempest offered. My faves: Galaga, Tempest, Space Invaders, Centipede, and Donkey Kong.

Thank you! It's 1/4" plywood so it's very easy to mod, all you need is a drill and a 1.125" hole saw bit to add more holes. Here's an assembly video if using an arcade board. It covers everything you might encounter when building and then some. czcams.com/video/ff4tHEDpjEU/video.html
