Lastolite Collapsible Background For Chroma Key - How To Fold

- As green screen collapsible fabrics for chroma key backgrounds go, this one by Lastolite has been super. I live in a tiny Manhattan apartment, but this foldable backdrop gives me the means to make it look like I'm doing my videos from anywhere in New York City.
But you need to take a minute to learn how to collapse - it's not something most people will be able to figure out on their own without seeing someone else do it first.
I use two methods to collapse the fabric. I'm fairly tall so I can reach both ends of the backdrop fabric frame just by stretching out my arms across one of the 6 foot sides.
But if you're more in the 5'6" range or below, you probably won't be able to fold it easily this way (although it can be done). You can also plant a foot on one side of the frame and reach down to the other side with your opposite hand. Once you've folded the frame in your hand properly, you can grab the other side with your other hand as you see in this video.
I'm not going to tell you you'll get it right the first time. You may even get a little frustrated at first. But after a few tries, you'll catch on.
The real benefit of the Lastolite collapsible chroma key background for me is not just that it folds easily once you get the hang of it. But it's also super portable. It fits easily into the back seat or trunk of a car. I even take it in cabs with me in New York (where most people don't own cars).
It also slips into a closet or behind an entertainment center (which is where I keep mine).
All things considered, I've been really happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who works with digital video and needs a reliable green screen chroma key backdrop or fabric.
Everyone is so impressed when you fwap open a large portable background... they are even MORE impressed if you can competently fold and stow it for the next gig. How many photogs have just given up and driven away with it still open in their van :) :) :)

+Steve Smede Did you fold it Steve? I have long since mastered the "taco fold" technique... my lighting assistant just walks away and pretends she didn't hear me say "fold the backgrounds"... (';') passive aggressive, so I do it myself...
Nope. Just got it to taco stage and dragged it into a local festival. Sooooo professional. I understand the initial taco fold, but it's the turning and looping action after that which has me baffled. Thoughts?
I don't know what to say... it works for me... there are lots of other CZcams demos... I would just suggest you keep on with your search?
