Aprilia Shiver weird starting behavior

- So we have here an aprilia shiver with a brand new ballistic evo2 8cell lithium battery fully charged and in confirmed working condition, a new starter relay also confirmed that it works ok, a rebuilded starter motor in a very good shape and some weirdo cables. I dont know how to describe this s(h)ituation but if I try to start the engine in a "normal" way the bike wont start and all I got is some clickings from the starter relay. If I disconnect the starter cable and add to it an extention cable the bike will fire like a charm. Check the video and if you can understand wtf is going wrong SPEAK! Cheers!

I have now sorted this problem, on my bike at least.
What I did was to thoroughly clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Fitted two shakproof washers one each side of the spade connection. Then fitted a new nut ( M6 I think ) then tightened up. Don't forget to use a M10 open ended spanner on the back lock nut. This is most important. I then used a M10 ring spanner and tightened it up as tight as I could.
Key back in, one touch of the starter my Shiver started first time, as it always did.
Just cos the fittings look clean and tight - don't assume they are.
The problem is that this fitting is right behind the front wheel. I will be applying AC50 now. To keep it clean.

Same problem with mine. Would only start occasionally. It has several other devices hooked in interrupting the connection. I bought a new Lithium ion battery, just to find out it already had one in! Just need cable management! Thanks for uploading the video and reminding me!

A better battery and better cables (positive and negative) was the answer in my case.
Is this a bad ground to the starter motor? Or a bad live to the starter motor terminal? You take the starter motor wire off and run a jumper wire from presumably another bikes battery positive terminal to the starter motor cable you removed and also a negative cable run from the same battery negative side this time to the body of the shiver starter motor correct?

Hello sir i have same problem i see the video and i what to try on my shiver750 the cable u put negative from the ground and positive from the wire, pls correct me if im wrong and did u use another batter to connect it..thanks a lot
I just added an extention cable from the positive to the starter

I try what u did but not luck i didnt start. I charge the battey full same it wont start i just hear the click sound.😔
@@chel7021 Then you might need a new starter relay
All I did was clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and replace the washers with stronger ones. Never an issue after that.

Same situation on my Dorsoduro 750. New starter motor, battery load tested ok, new starter relay. Cleaned all contacts. Tested with difrent cabels. I dont have any idea how to fix it to normal.
Now I have installed additional switch from battery to relay contact to engage the start.

I replaced the cables, positive and negative with some custom USA made.
@@GetchaPull thank you will try with new difrent cabels. Positive from relay to starter and negative from batery to first ground point corect?

Εμενα παλι κανει σημερα ενα κλικ κλικ οτι κλεινει ο ρελες και δεν στελνει ρευμα στη μιζα να γυρισει.....γεφυρωνω το ρελε μ ενα μυτοτσιμπιδο και παιρνει αμεσως...
Ρελε λογικα??
Πρωτα κανε εναν ελεγχο στην μπαταρια αν μπορει να δωσει το ρευμα που πρεπει και αν ειναι φορτισμενη φυσικα. Δεν πιστευω οτι ειναι το ρελε, δες αν εχει διαβρωση στα σημεια που ενωνονται τα καλωδια στους πολους της μπαταριας και στην βιδα της μιζας.
@@GetchaPull δεν υπάρχει διάβρωση πουθενά και η μπαταρία είναι φορτισμένη(δοκιμασα και με καλώδια)..οταν γεφυρωνω το ρελε παίρνει αμέσως.....οπότε???
Τελικά και μπαταρια και ρελες μιζας....75 + 47 = 122€
