    I have used PEX in my vacation home in TN and my tiny rental home in FL. Love the ease of use. If someone doesn't want to buy the $60 tool, there is always Sharkbite connectors. However, Sharkbite is more expensive so you may pay the $60 you saved from the tool to getting Sharkbites. I just replaced my water heater in my main home and used the Sharkbite water lines to connect to my copper pipes. I don't trust my solder skills, so this works great form me. Thanks for your vids Blake....

    FYI that looks like a Price Pfister shower valve and if it is the tub port on it is larger than the shower Port so if you install it upside down and plug the shower and run the tub up to what is called a wingback for the shower head you'll get more volume out of the shower head and you can turn the cartridge over to correct the hot and cold

    I’m not familiar with the steel structure under the wooden floor in a container like this, how are you protecting the pex from damage if you were to relocate the container? Put a different way, if you wanted to move this after construction does that mean you will destroy the supply and waste plumbing?

    Because you have metal studs when running the tubing through these do you add some type of O-Ring to keep the metal from cutting through the tubing?

    • @bmadgett85
      @bmadgett85 Před 5 lety +4

      From my personal email because tyler restricts my access haha! Just kidding... ok so yes if you had 3-5/8" metal studs you can use the factory holes pre cut in them and they sell plastic grommets that will protect the pipe (plumbing supply house or home depot). In our case we were using 1-5/8" metal studs which are too shallow to place plumbing lines (for code) so we actually do not have any plumbing lines running through our walls, all plumbing supply lines are ran underneath and stubbed up to each fixture through the floor. we chose to do this just incase a pipe bursts or something random happens we can easily access and repair anything right from the bottom of our container build. So that is the longest "Yes" use plastic grommets to protect the pipe when running it through the studs!

    you have the shower valve piped backwards...the cold pipe enters on the right and the hot pipe enters on the left as you are facing the valve as if you were using the shower. Also why didn't you just install a 1/2" brass plug in the bottom port instead of an adapter, two crimping rings, a short piece of pipe and a crimp plug? the more joints that you have, the greater the chance of a leak. you would be better off learning to sweat copper...rats and mice like to chew holes in PEX to get a drink.
