Do no lock your bicycle to anything that can be easily cut or broken. I use metal poles that are bolted into concrete if I can. I check the stability of a rack before I lock to it. My bike is also 70lbs with cargo racks
Put a hound dog outside to protect the bikes! The pipe and lock are good but they will come back with a pipe cutter to free up the bikes. But, looks really good just add another layer of security.
How did you secure the bar on the side of the rack without the lock? Maybe I missed something but couldn't you just pull the rod out through the locked side? I like the idea for the rack though, I'll probably go this route and make something similar. Well done!
@@TheHowtoDad Ah, ok that makes sense. I think something I might consider doing is using the spade bit to drill the holes a little closer to the front of the rack so they're under the bike frames a bit more. Then either attaching or running a cable through the rack and then through the bike frames instead (since all my bikes have quick release front tires). You'd need a longer bike cable so maybe just a chain is a better option. It's not 100% secure either but like you said, it would slow the thief down at least.
@@Ben-um1cy I think that is a good idea. What I might do is just run a cable through the frames and around the bar. This should be good if we go away for a weekend and leave our bikes at home. I like the bar because it is quick, which means we are more likely to use it.
Very good! What's next? A ski rack?
that might be...we don't have one here. I built one for my last house czcams.com/video/IkfBjyf5hBs/video.html
@@TheHowtoDad I see you did. Thanks for the link. How about a vertical x-country ski rack when you can't make it to the slopes. Ha Ha!
@@rlabrune I'll put some thought into it! always looking for video ideas

This will stop the opportunity thieves, but if they really want the bikes, nothing will stop them

just for the opportunity type thieves
this is great! well done
works great for the family's bikes. Now the kids bikes aren't all over the place

I didn't show it, but locks are on both sides
