LYRICS
i was standing in a void
first time i heard the call
i was looking at the world
i was feeling kinda small
the time of night with fireflies
i could see it all in their light
sign your name on the dotted line
that’s when you lost your face
playing someone else’s game
trying to live another day
so you hold on
you just hold on anyway
now i’m somewhere outside of reno
in a rented truck with some rented friends
i think of my mother and my father
well whatever happened to them?
my friend says you’re not alone
but that skin still doesn’t feel like home
that’s when you lost your face
playing someone else’s game
trying to live another day
the wheels keep turning but you don’t know the way
so you hold on
you just hold on
one more minute, just hold on
yeah it’s killing you to stay
but you hold on anyway
that’s when you lost your face
playing someone else’s game
trying to live another day
wheels keep turning but you don’t know the way
and have you lost your faith?
running til your bones are weak
trying to hit top speed
that wheel keeps turning but
you are underneath
so you hold on
you just hold on
one more minute, just hold on...
yeah it’s killing you to stay
but you hold on anyway

I just love Walk the Moon! What a terrific group!
Best song on the album. Reminds me of Surrender
I truly love this song! It makes me cry....it's so beautiful! Thank you Walk the Moon.😊
This song (and many others from WTM) deserves so much more recognition. The lyrics are just beautiful, so ... validating.
The most underrated song of Heights.
Amazing. People fear change, because it can be really painful. But sometimes that pain is necessary to stop playing someone else's game.
Randomly came into my head today. Really touching song that shows that the band have grown as songwriters.
What an amazing song
This song has spoken to me very deeply at a time where I’ve been very depressed and struggling to find my reasons to stay… Thank you Walk the Moon 🥺
Great song... Magically this song appeared on my Daily Playlist on Spotify when I was driving back home after a tough day.... I am big fan of Walk The Moon since the first album, but, I wasn't aware that you just launch a new album. This song is just magical, touches every little piece of a injured heart and soul. Thank you Walk the Moon for this song, can´t wait to see you back live!
My favorite of the unreleased songs so far
Something about the way the song is written and sung just perfectly captures the feeling of being horribly depressed and trapped in a capitalist's world where you literally have run yourself into the ground just to feed yourself and have a home and maybe hopefully have a big wedding and everything just feels like it's falling in on you bc this world hasn't been set up for just regular people for decades, but you can't just make it stop, you just have to keep going forward with your life. The song perfectly captures every part of that emotion and it feels like the narrator of this song is speaking to the listener about their problems and all you can do is feel the same way bc it's not just a one person issue, it's a everyone but the 1% kind of issue, and it honestly makes me cry listening to this song. It's a very good representation of a very specific type of pain that is perfectly said in the line of "that's how you lost your face, playing someone else's game" I love this band and will love their music till the day I die honestly, good vibes, wonderful instrumentals, and a singing voice you can't get out of your head even if you try. Every album has been an absolute banger and while sticking pretty closely to a specific sound, it's very hard to do something like that and still have a varied track list. Once the pandemic is over, this band is on my to see live list
Back with another uplifting song.
My father passed away on Thursday evening, and this song (completely randomly) was the first song to play on the car stereo on my drive home from the hospital. Such a beautiful song, and definitely lifted my spirits at a time when they so desperately needed lifting. Thank you Walk the Moon, this song is going to stay with me forever, and I'm incredibly happy about that! x

Sad for your lost, My parents are still alive but I can understand your pain.
This song made me standing up when I had Knees on the ground.
Take care of you mate.

First here
you should've taken Someone Else's Game from them
I bought this on vinyl! I listened to the first side of it and didn’t care for ANY of them. On the second side however there are 3 bangers. This one, What you Can’t Look Up, and Population of 2. I also read the album/song credits. I noticed the only 3 I like have Kevin Ray as a co-writer. Your “former” bassist. Now I’m not one to throw stones, Im a big fan, I have physical copies of all your albums and I went to a couple live concerts back in the free world days, and I’m sure you had valid reason to bounce him, but 1. I think it’s kinda hypocritical to not associate yourself with him and then use songs he co-wrote on your new album. 2. I hope you guys can carry one writing good material without him. Because IMO your guys best work on this album were those songs. My opinion doesn’t mean a thing, and I doubt you’ll see this, but it’s feedback from a long time record buying/concert going fan of yours.
he also co-wrote 3 songs on the first side, the one you didn't like, and the ones you liked it was him with other 3 people, how can you be sure he was the element that made them good to you lol
oh sure, let’s give the good credit for one people and ignore the other 3 who wrote the song lol
I love this song!!❤
