To explain my lifelong love of film and particularly the work of Ray Harryhausen, I have always said that the moment Talos turned his head, my life was changed forever. This model captures that moment perfectly.
Thanks, Ian. Yes, it's a top ten moment of fantasy cinema for sure.
Harryhausen once remarked about Talos that it was pretty ironic that he had spent his career trying to make stop-motion animation as fluid as possible, whereas in this case the movements of Talos had to be deliberately stiff and mechanical (he's a kind of ancient robot after all). Clash of The Titans is my favorite Harryhausen movie and the Cyclops in The 7th Voyage is my favorite of his creations.
Well remarked. Yes Ray was frustrated by some of the negative review of his Talos animation techniques.
I still remember watching Jason and the Argonauts at the cinema on its re-release. Talos is totally amazing and I never tire of watching the film. An incredible creation by the master Ray Harryhausen.
I agree, Ian. It's a film that only gets better with age. I'm sure TALOS could take on the Marvel universe's Thanos!
Thank you for showing this unboxing of Talos awakes. Your work carrying on Mr Ray Harryhausen legacy is truly appreciated by many fans 🙏
Thanks Jimmy. Ray would be thrilled his work is still so popular.
Love TALOS Bronze statue in the movie, my favorite part and the Skeletons too, Ive loved the movie since I was a kid, fabulous movie, Ive been watching it every night on CZcams for a few months, love it!!
Thanks for the support Deb. You’re right Talos is iconic.
Let them enjoy a calm sea, a fresh breeze and each other . The girl is pretty and I was always sentimental , one of my favourite movies
Well said John!
My favourite Harryhausen. And one of my fav films of all times. I first saw this back in 1963 at the Regal, Sidcup. Had nightmares for weeks! My parents had to leave the light switched on on the landing just in case Talos tried to come up the stairs (my concept of scale was a bit off in those days lol 😊).
I remember reading many years ago a 3-out-of-five rating in the 'Radio Times' stating negatively that the creaking and grating noises and the jerky movements weren't effective. Talk about not understanding one of the masterpieces of all time! I mean, those movements and noises make Talos an icon of stop-start motion. And how chilling that first turn of the head still is.
Great memories. Thanks for sharing. How wonderful to see it on its first cinema run. Luckily, the RT review has been upgraded to a four-star. Ray was frustrated by critics of the “jerky” movement comments as an error on his part when, as you rightly say, it was part of the dramatic moves of Talos. To mention one of many, Michael Myers adopted his dead eyes look on Halloween.
"And just where do you two little darlings think you're off to?"
Fantastic model. This pose is one of the most iconic moments of the 1960s and quite frankly blew any other vfx effort that year out of the water. Ray should have been given an academy award for the Talos scenes alone.
I wish I had room for even just a few of these wonderful models, and can only hope that a smaller scale range will emerge one day. As a wargaming enthusiast, this would be an excellent scenery piece looking down on the characters below...
Its a shame there's been no more news on Force of the Trojans. Even if only for Scylla and Charybdis, it would be worth it.
Talos works so well in the film. Mainly because the stop motion animation adds to the fact he's made of bronze so even today, the jerky movements seem realistic along the creaking sounds. Definitely my favourite sequence from all of the Harryhausen films. I'd love to own this!
Thanks, Ian, you are in the draw. Be sure you have subscribed too.
Great review of such an iconic character. Truly scary seeing him as a child. He was was real! Ray is one of my celluloid heroes. I've managed to collect all of his films on Blu-ray and this ranks amongst the best!
Cheers Darren. You are in the draw. Make sure you have subscribed too.
One regret I have from years ago is when I had to part with my X-Plus version of Talos in the same iconic pose as this latest Star Ace release. Financial needs dictated the sale along with a couple of other items. It is the only time I have parted company with pieces from my Harryhausen collection. However, Talos turning his head is one of the most iconic moments from the whole film. The creak as his head slowly moves for the first time is one of my favourite film moments so the good memories it brings back always outweigh any bad thoughts that might also spring to mind 🙂
That is very true, Kevin and the Dead Empty Eyes was borrowed by numerous filmmakers, including John Carpenter, for his Michael Myers on Halloween.
at my age Talos still gives me the jeevs, the scene where he awakes and began stalking the argonauts.
Yes it’s those dead eyes that do it. Same for Michael Myers in Halloween.
Jason and the Argonauts is my favorite film. Used to have a Talos statue but do not know what happened to it. Be honored to win this.
You’re on the draw William. Thanks for your support.
Superb model. My favourite scene from the film is seeing that valley where the bronze statues reside showing the immense size with comparison to the two argonauts. The stop motion animation also fits the movement of Talos perfectly. Thankyou fof posting.
You're welcome. Great to know Ray's work still inspires audiences.
Oh dear god I need this 😮
This is THE only scene of any film that terrified but fascinated me as a child! Seeing Talos looking down along with the sound of him creaking i felt like I was standing there under him! My heart still thumps just watching the clip on your video 😂. Ray was an absolute genius, somehow I just get totally drawn in as if I’m there. I’d like the other figures but I NEED this one 😍 (if I’m brave enough) 😂
Talos' creaky joints freaked me out when i was a kid. One of my favourite characers from one of my favourite movies. Good stuff 🙂
Thanks, Lee. Talos is like a good wine and only gets better with age.
It was this scene that instilled a sense of foreboding in me at young age at the sound of creaking metal 😦
One of my favourite moments in film, full stop! I can remember watching this on home-recorded VHS with my cousin. (We must have been 5 years old) then we had to imitate Talos animating and walking around: funny as kids we milestones have known it wasn’t real but it felt ENTIRELY real within the story: we noticed all his little sways and swapping of swords from hand to hand and the two of us walked around the house copying- my mum came in from the garden- ‘ah my two little taloses!’
She knew 😂 but what is the correct plural? 😂 thanks for the video, sir!
Ray Harryhausen was such a big part of my childhood and now I enjoy watching his movies all over again with my own son. Jason and the Argonauts is my all time favourite movie, and I never get board of watchIng the ‘Talos Awakes’ scene. This model truly captures the moment. Thank you John.
You’re welcome
This is a wonderfully accurate depiction of my favourite part of the movie. I love the fact that Ray’s animation skill was such that he chose to animate Talos to fully articulate he was made of cast bronze.. It’s a subtle difference and it looks almost stuttery but it works perfectly. I love how he rests on the side of the plinth as he looks around as if his own weight is so dense he needs a break to move further. It’s truly one of my favourite Harryhausen characters, where sound, animation and design just come together so perfectly.
Yes please! After seeing the standing Talos, I did wonder why they didn't realease him in the statue's original pose. This is the one I need.
Thanks Jon. Maybe we will have that pose coming soon too!
Talos looks great. They have done a great job of making Talos look just like the Talos in the movie.
Wow what an amazing figure, absolutely splendid details and definitely one of my favourite pieces yet from star ace toys!! Truly breathtaking! Thank you again for another fantastic review @walshbros
Thanks for your support Torin.
Lovely. I think Talos is my favourite of all the characters.
Thanks, Mark. Yes, he's in my top ten too.
That looks amazing! Talos is one of my favorite Harryhausen creations
Mine too!
My favorite movie as a kid.
Very nice base with this one, good looking door and threshold. So many Talos bases, they're almost as popular as he is😅 Thanks for the review👍
Thanks for being the first to comment and for the praise. 😊
Please John! I implore you! I need this! 🤞🤞🤞
I hear you Ben!
That Talos is amazing. My favorite creature from Harryhausen. Just brilliantly designed and the work by Star Ace is top notch. Whoever has one of these is one lucky blighter.
That Talos figure looks nice. Jason and the Argonauts is one of my favorite Ray Harryhausen films.
He’s a beauty alright Mark.
My absolute favourite of Ray Harryhausen’s creations. This is an amazing figure! I’m so happy to have seen Jason and the Argonauts twice at my local cinema in the last couple of years ❤
Yes best on the big screen.
Just been watching lots of your Harryhausen videos and blown away how good thay are. When I was a kid seeing Talos always made me think of Statues coming to life. This one of my favourite films " Jason and the Argonauts " sub to you and hopefully see a lot more. Also great work by Star Ace!!! Love it. 😊
This Talos is stunning such a great design by Ray Harryhausen. An iconic scene in movie history.
It would have been crazy to see this in the theater.

This Talos looks amazing - thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Julie.
Just discovered your channel, massive Harryhausen fan…who isn’t! 👍 My first ever trip to the cinema as a child was to see The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.
Welcome to the channel, Stephen. Great to have another aficionado on board!
I love watching these unboxing videos. When I was about 4 I would watch Jason and The Argonauts every day on VHS. The scene where Talos turns his head gives me chills to this very day along with the metallic grinding sound as he moved.
Welcome back! It’s been a while!
Great sculpt. Amazing colouring.
Fantastic!
🥇🙏🏻
That is an epic figure, thank you for showing me these figures, I'm gonna get my partner a Medusa figure as thats her fave character.
Thanks Daniel. Also, it is a perfect gift of Medusa for Valentine's Day.

My pleasure
Such a part of my childhood in this loved the new dvd herculeas should of known better ...went on to new adventures
Absolutely superb! Love this one! 😀
Thanks Dave.
i hope they release this as a kit like the others
I got this statue for 2weeks ago. I really love it,specially the pose. The only negative point here is that they forgot the screw on Talos heel.
A chance for a second edition then.
Jason and the Argonauts has always been a favourite of mine. Was there ever a sequel planned? The point of getting the fleece was to ultimately reclaim the throne from Pelias, but after getting the fleece, and escaping, the film ends. At the end of the movie Zeus says "I have not yet finished with Jason" which does sound like the door was at least open to the possibility.
No sequel, but Clash of the Titans and its unmade follow-up, Force of The Trojans, was meant to continue the Greek Myths story.
Superb sir thank you!
Thank you for the support.
Awesome
Thanks, Michael.
When I saw this as a young child, Talos, just horrified me! One of Ray's bigger creations. If remade today, Talos would be running with lighting speed, as is the same with many CGI creatures, which would just totally ruin the effect.
In his wisdom and age, TALOS must have watched the tortoise and the hare!
😄@@WalshBros
Is this why they invented equity release (lol)?!!!!!
i see star ace have now after so long released the hydra john as a deluxe and im over the moon. will you be doing a unboxing video of it on here at all please

Hi John! I have your book its really beautifully done and my question is how many models for the force of the trojans exist? Correct me if I m wrong but I think there is a spinx model?
