Thank you so much for this video. For someone that loves the book/audiobook (so much so that Camila’s final email will never not make me shed a tear) you perfectly pointed out why the show just didn’t hit as much. One of the most notable examples of the inconsistencies from narrator to narrator in the book was during Daisy and Billy’s (almost?) kiss. The switching back and forth of them telling it is gripping and they both clearly say that they were the one to walk away. Additionally, if it was a documentary, they could really utilize the multimedia aspects of that form. Show ticket stubs, album covers, (even sonograms and Karen and Graham talking over them). Make it a Miss Americana for a fictional band. And then we would feel their fame more. Interviewing fans on the streets, hearing the crowds singing along during the concerts, these little things are so important to grounding the audience.

what the hell. I loved this video so much. I was scrolling down the comments and I thought there was a glitch because there were only like 5. Then I looked up and saw that this amazing video only had 39 likes omg, it must have taken you so long to make this and for it to have less than 792 views is absolutely crazy to me. Anyway, I know how hard it is to get subs and 830 is 100% not enough for this content. I was out here thinking you had like 300k subs or something. Gonna go follow your goodreads now

i really coun't grasp why i didn't enjoy the tv show, but you definitely hit the nail on the coffin. it's sad that they chose to go for a conventional format instead of experimenting, like jenkins did in the book. thank you for the video!

I find your way of putting your thoughts into essays intriguing but i would like to offer a piece of constructive criticism. I have the feeling your voice accelerates continuosly until you "reset" the speed. This is leading (for me!) to parts of nice flow with good pauses between sentences but overwhelming parts of speed where its hard to keep up with your logic. Keeping it the same (calmer) speed would be a nice continuum which helps guide through your work. Which i appreciate!

Hi, new listener here and I got to say I really like your videos. I think they’re really well scripted and the clips you put behind them are well edited. One thing I think you could improve on, though is your narration. The way you speak feels super rushed, like you’re in a race to get to the end of the script. I think if you were to slow down a bit, it would be a more enjoyable listening experience and you would be able to more effectively pace the script, leaving room for an emotional impact after you say something important. It’s also possible to hear you inhale at the end of each sentence make any sound a bit out of breath. Slowing down may help you breathe more regularly/less harshly.
I hope this didn’t offend you in anyway and you keep making videos and your channel keeps growing !

thanks for the feedback! i've gotten similar notes from other people and i totally see it-- i don't realize the pace of my delivery changing while i'm recording and only hear the difference while editing (pace is something i've always struggled with when public speaking :/ ) i'll definitely work on it!
