Hi, I love your videos, both your floss tubes & tutorials. Your tutorials are so well put together. I’m pretty new to cross stitch & would love to see some tips on how best to store completed, washed & ironed pieces - while they await some kind of finishing, and I’d love an in-depth tutorial on fractionals. I realise I have no idea what they are or how to execute them. Thanks.

This was so helpful! I am just starting my first project with even weave fabric that has not already had the edges serged and I was intimidated to secure the edges myself. I appreciate you showing your fabric prep in detail

I would also like to ask if you could show your 'setup' the next time you do a stitch a long. I find myself feeling very disorganized when actually stitching even though I have everything together in one bag, as you have suggested.

This pattern will be my first big project! I am gradually buying threads, as it all adds up. Fabric is such a dilemma for me. I am also a beginner... so am unsure if I can use evenweave so soon. I am buying a small plain one so I can practice and just see. If it is too tricky, I will just use the aida. While I am gathering the supplies, I have a few simple, small designs to work on to practice. Onto my second one now. Your videos are SO helpful and this is just at the right time! I can't wait to see what Julia looks like when you start 🥰🥰
I'm so excited for you to stitch this too! That's such a brilliant idea to try a small piece of evenweave before fully diving in. It's definitely different...you sort of have to put your brain in a different mode of counting, but once you get the hang of it then it becomes much easier. Stitching on evenweave or linen is on my very loooooong list of videos to make 😂

Great help! I'm trying out floss drops now and think that will be how I try to organize my threads. I've never seen anyone use a peg board, but that sounds like it would work nicely! Do you just put one floss drop on one peg? Do you have some that are on pegs behind the hanging thread from the floss drop (if that makes sense?) ha. couldn't quite tell from the picture, but I'm definitely intrigued by this method!
I have 40 long hooks on the pegboard and hang multiple floss drops on each one. They hang in the same order as on the DMC thread card and the floss drops for each column on the thread card are split across 2 hooks. I really need to get to doing a craft room tour and include a good close look at the pegboard!

Very interesting, Cat! I usually use a blanket stitch around my edges, which I'm sure takes me longer than a whip stitch would. Have you ever compared those two stitches for their ability to prevent fraying? Also, I cannot remember whether I've ever seen you grid a fabric. Do you ever grid? I've found I really need to unless the design is very simple.
I haven't ever actually tried blanket stitching to compare with whip stitching. I'm sure you are are right...I feel that whip stitching would be quicker and to be honest I have never had any fraying when I've done that so I guess I never thought to try blanket stitching when the whip stitch works so well. As far as gridding goes...nope! Way back I used to tack in the centre lines only and now I don't bother. I didn't find I needed it and I absolutely hate unpicking it at the end 😂 Of course, you can use water soluble pen now but I have seen too many horror stories of it not coming out or showing back up later. And again. it's just not something I find I need...I guess I have got used to never having grids!
@@catkinandlillie I'm so sorry to have let days go by before I replied! I'm going to try whip stitch on my next project. So many people rely on a serger or sewing machine, it was good to find someone else who does this prep work by hand!

I've been taping charts together since I started...probably because when I started back in the 'old days' there were ONLY paper charts 😂

100% you have to prep before hand . The amount of times I have tried to cross stitch NOW !!! And regretted it later 😅

Oh goodness...I'm very often not the fastest with my replies...that's just life! There is something satisfying about stitching the edges by hand 😄
