I'm very glad, cause Jake still plays his original studio version's solo which he recorded about 40 years ago. He is truely a talented musician and guitarist.
I know he has a much better lineup now (2019). He's a kind humble guy and I think it's hard for him to show anyone the door. Glad to see him performing and doing well. Lots and lots of fans worldwide he deservedly has.
+rstabler1 I totally feel ya. I SAW Jake back in the 80s when Oz was on the B.A.T. Moon concert tour. I had the cassette. haha I learned to play some of the riffs. IMO, Jake was seriously bad ass and I LOVE how he didn't at all try to copy Randy. I kind of feel sorry for him because Badlands was good but.... you know? And the fact he got reamed by Sharon on the album and made him sign a contract AFTER he had recorded it all saying he got no $ for album sales.... wow. Just low. My respect for Oz and Sharon is nil for that and how many other deals did they do? I hear she had parts recut for the Randy albums too just to remove the drummer and keyboardist from them. Anyway... poor Jake. He just doesn't look healthy to me.
Jake E Lee not at the top of his game here, but still sounds pretty damn good. Everyone complaining should reflect on the fact that this guy went MIA for decades. So we should be thankful that he's back out playing at least.
He's a better singer than Ozzy. If you see a live video of Ozzy and he actually sounds good, it means Ozzy went back and over dubbed new vocals in the studio. The only exception to this would be old Black Sabbath...Ozzy stayed in key better back then.
its seems like just yesterday, but it was more like 30 years ago this summer i was standing in the front row watching Ozzy and Jake on the Bark at the Moon tour, Jake is a Guitar Hero for sure so happy to find this video thanks for posting!
Oddly, it is more difficult to sing Ozzy than Badlands. Ozzy's voice is in a weird register and is really unique. Unless you get an Ozzy impersinator its hard to cover ozzy songs because you are so used to ozzy's voice. He sounds pretty good on the badlands stuff and their originals.
I've been playing and teaching guitar for years. the note choices and innovations Jake came up with are on par with Van Halen or Hendrix. Randy did some great stuff, that's for sure. but his style was so heavily influenced with the classical melodies it made things to neat and predictable at times. the fact that(like Eddie) Jake studied piano at and early age made him think differently about his note choices. the fact is Zack can play the shit out of Randys stuff. but he doesn't come very close to what Jake did. to bad we didn't get another album with Jake in his prime
As a fellow guitar teacher I totally agree with this statement. Jake is one of my biggest influences. His knowledge about harmonies is superb and that made him stand out from everyone else. The guy deserves way more credit.
There is no such thing as , Zack is better or Randy ,or Jake is the best.Brad Gillis is also very good They're all really good. What you can say is what you , yourself like or fancy the most. Me , speaking just for meself, i like the first 4 albums. Thats the real spirit in Ozzy Osbourne, after the Ultimate Sin i lost intrest in this band and in Ozzy.
RDC has a new vocalist now... can't wait to see them live. I've been a Jake fan since before his Ozzy days. I'm so glad to see him back out there touring.
How much did he "grow" after working with bob Daisley, we have Pre ozzy Randy footage, but none of Jake that I am aware of. Randy became a much better song writer in that little time between the Club video's of Quiet Riot and the Blizzard Album.
Understand this, Jake did write the song, so he plays it properly. This is not to take anything away from Zakk Wylde. Honestly, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Zakk is talented in the way he plays, but I feel his abundance of harmonic squeals becomes a novelty. The phrasing in his solos sound great, but there is not an abundance of variety in them. Harmonics and squeals should be more accent and not the bones of a solo when it's fleshed out. But a ton of the commentors here don't actually play, so the words get lost on them. Lets just agree to disagree, Jake is great for his music, Zakk is great with his songs.
Yeah... Sharon and Ozzy really put the screws to Jake after he put the guitar work down for the album. He was too trusting to get the contract before putting out his ideas. And you're right.. harmonic squeals are nice once in a while but Zack really over uses them... too bad thoigh.. he really doesn't need to because he's actually a great player and under plays his solos in Ozzy tunes.
Agree! Bark at the Moon is more intricate to play then any song written by Zak. Even Zak doesn't cover the song accurately. Their are some riff which require wide stretches really difficult to duplicate!
Sounds a hell of a lot better than that awful phone video aimed at Jake's speaker. People were saying he lost it, was drunk, when it was just a bad, distorted, cheap mic red lined from his speaker. The comments really angered me due to that lack if insight, it was so obvious. Glad Jake is has some higher caliber recordings coming out. No doubt one the best metal guitarist of all time.
Gotta say it why all the hate on the singer he sounds brilliant I like the singer a lot . Jakes back and sounds better by the gig . Don't go away again . Hurry up with the new material .
Everyone keep in mind he hadn't played this song in nearly thirty years (I met him shortly before his comeback effort, and he hadn't played much of anything for most of that time), and never thought he would play this particular song again... until it was demanded of him on this tour, so he had to re-learn it. I can relate to his fingers not being quite as flexible as they were at one time, and especially on the outro solo which he admitted is still quite difficult for him. But I don't think he needs the excuses anyway. He played great.... but yes, he needs a good tech.
Whenever I think of Jake being part-Japanese, I think of my former elementary school classmate, David Itchitushi. He was half-Jewish, half-Japanese. David told us that when he was born, his family held his bris at Benihana. (Ba-dump-bump!) O.K., kidding aside, would I be out of place here if I said that Jake could play with tem broken fingers and STILL outplay Zakk Wylde any day of the week? I'd hope not! (Love ya, Jake! Hope to run into you in Vegas someday soon!)
Grunge killed the guitar hero. Emo screamo killed the fun. Long live Jake and all the other shredders that make us throw our fist in the air and yell "f*ck yeah!"
The intro to this song , with its clean tone and askew tuning . Reminds me of a quiet sentimental stroll down the chemical waste dump next to the industrial complex at the area far from city limits. shhhhhh!!!! jakey! Did you see that 3 headed mouse next to the mystery barrel?
People complaining, understand this is a shitty recording , the camera is recording the sound thru the air out by the audience , no direct mix off the PA ...so yeah, it's gonna sound thin, muddy and noisy . Even with a good mix from a board into the cam , a live recording is VERY difficult to sound like the album . If you don't play, or record, you're unaware of how much production goes into what you hear on a album , the instruments have precise mic placement on them, with isolation from room noise and ambient noise ...ambient reverberence from the room is sometimes let in (in a very controlled manner, and phase aligned) . A good band can sound very good live if 1: you're actually there 2: they have a good sound guy 3: a good PA system 4: a decent room . 5,6,7,8, ... If you've played out, then you know, some gigs/rooms just swallow up and muddy your sound . -----Just appreciate the opportunity to see Jake E . I'd rather see Jake E in a shitty room with bad sound and howard stern on vocals than see Zakk do pinch squealers and the same ole lifeless muff pentatonics recorded perfect . . .
by the way..the US FESTIVAL was coming up 1983..and was a launching pad for the new OZ album and the Crues SHOUT plus may other bands..VH's1984..on and on.. and there is no way they would have canceled that..so Jake had Sharon by the balls..I'm sure she has a pair hiding somewhere:)..but I do love her.. over 350,000 people..best advertisement you can get and they made a shitload of $$ remember listening to that on the radio..day after my birthday that's another reason Jake should of stood his ground my lil'grasshoppers!!!!
What a bunch of haters..this thing was captured with a phone..what does it matter how these guys look? how many of you are good enough to play at this level?
After Randy Rhoads, He remains the top guitarist Ozzy ever Had. This band actually's abslolutely under his amazing level. He actually deserves a better contest to play with. Hope one day he could join Ozzy again. It'd be a dream.
I really love the bass player, he could play for Jake E. Lee, Jennifer Lopez, One Direction, Cradle of Filth or whoever requires someone to hang out! Jake my heroe, forever!
5:10; quoting Jimi's 'House Burning Down', or am I reading too much into it? Jake E Lee is a living legend, and I love the fact that he made a career with that Charvel Strat. Most guitarists need to have about 200 high-end guitars to be satisfied.
This lineup is pretty good. The singer kicks major ass. I dunno about all the negative comments, but jake and the boys sound tight to me. you gotta keep in mind though that the recording has ALOT to do with it too.... overall I give it a 9.5 outta 10!!!
If that is chris boderwick, which its not, but if it was then he should have gotten on guitar instead of Jake. Then the guitar on this version of bark at the moon would have sound so much better lol
legatou Jake was barred from a Black Sabbath show because he broke silence on what actually happened during the recording/contract signing for 'Bark At The Moon' and is not on speaking terms with the Osbourne camp - he wrote a large majority of the music on that record with Bob Daisley. He could've been sued for talking about it publicly, because the contract prohibited him to talk about it, but it basically said he had no rights to songwriting or publishing and if he didn't like it, he could go home and sue them. Nothing against these guys, but Jake is a legend and deserves a better band than this, seriously. Just my opinion.
+Chris J Yes my opinion too! Bark at the moon!
+Chris J I agree
I agree, that singer is shit
Hes better off with a backing track.
Agree with you, drummer is fine, but the singer and the bass player should be anybody with more resumé... Maybe they are cheap hahaha
I'm very glad, cause Jake still plays his original studio version's solo which he recorded about 40 years ago.
He is truely a talented musician and guitarist.

Jake E. Lee. One of the true greats, nuff said. That solo.. Damn!!
Jake still has got it. Glad to see him making the rounds again and back on stage doing his art.
Jake is one of the MOST under rated guitar gods of all time.....someone please make a 2016 list and give this man some props!!
+mike boxler AGREED
He's not underrated he just doesn't make music people care about.
Jake did okay but seriously, Johnny Depp on bass and Howard Stern on vocals? Cmon, man.
***** :)
+rstabler1 I totally feel ya. I SAW Jake back in the 80s when Oz was on the B.A.T. Moon concert tour. I had the cassette. haha I learned to play some of the riffs. +TruthSurge .......and Howard Stern on vocals''' . well, yeah :-)
+YnoT0207 hehe
+TruthSurge i thought that was Jeff Loomis on vocals!
Jake E Lee not at the top of his game here, but still sounds pretty damn good. Everyone complaining should reflect on the fact that this guy went MIA for decades. So we should be thankful that he's back out playing at least.
Jake will always be a GUITAR GOD! A true legend!!!
WOW...This singer BLOWS

lovestheclassics69 , you are right !!! 100% !!
This vocalist SUCKS !
Not everyone sounds like Ozzy. People have different styles
lovestheclassics69 well to be honest OZZY sucks major Ass too
its seems like just yesterday, but it was more like 30 years ago this summer i was standing in the front row watching Ozzy and Jake on the Bark at the Moon tour, Jake is a Guitar Hero for sure so happy to find this video thanks for posting!
Jake e Lee is a beast!! Thank u brotha for the inspiration 👍
I got to see these guys on the Monsters of Rock Cruise this past April and I loved see Jake E Lee the best!
Jake E. Lee is a hard rock / metal guitar LEGEND!
Jake E. Lee what an absolute pleasure to enjoy those riffs.
I like Jake, the only complaint I had with his playing is he runs his guitar through so much shit his guitar sounds muddy at best most times.
Jake E Lee kicks ass,But I agree singers gotta go
Oddly, it is more difficult to sing Ozzy than Badlands. Ozzy's voice is in a weird register and is really unique. Unless you get an Ozzy impersinator its hard to cover ozzy songs because you are so used to ozzy's voice. He sounds pretty good on the badlands stuff and their originals.
Darren is staying fyi. Still in the band
Why? The singer is incredible. Hope he's still in the band 👍
Living in rays shadow is a difficult thing

Zakk Wylde runs circles around this guy!
@@otemigo8158 that's why he plays Bark at the Moon the "easy way"?
lolololol

Gilleon Blevins Thx for your comment. Couldn't have said it better.
Agree dude. Jake explains his contract "issues" on the Eddie trunk podcast...wed 28 jam.. He had no rights to anything.
Gilleon Blevins I totally agree. In fact, I think Randhy and Jake created the best solos of Ozzy's discography.
Agree! Bark at the Moon is more intricate to play then any song written by Zak. Even Zak doesn't cover the song
accurately.
Their are some riff which require wide stretches really difficult to duplicate!
WOW JAKE tears it apart. Awesome

Perfect!
Jake's brilliant here, as always. The rest of the band's not worthy of him....their hearts aren't in it, man. He'd be a blast to play with.
Hey look he sounds great, My son born in 2017 has the middle name Jake in his Honor. Jake, KEEP ROCKING

Many may try but they will never play this tune as good as Jake

Amazing' guitarist.

I dig it.
I always loved what Jake .E Lee did with Ozzy .I wish he would of stayed longer on he crazy train.
Dollar Shave Club Actor on Drums is tearing it up .

I was at this show and the band had numerous technical difficulties as well. They had to halt proceedings a few times to correct equipment issues.
Jake is god !!!
Jake fucking shreddeddddd
by the way..the US FESTIVAL was coming up 1983..and was a launching pad for the new OZ album and the Crues SHOUT
plus may other bands..VH's1984..on and on..
and there is no way they would have canceled that..so Jake had Sharon by the balls..I'm sure she has a pair hiding somewhere:)..but I do love her..
over 350,000 people..best advertisement you can get and they made a shitload of $$
remember listening to that on the radio..day after my birthday
that's another reason Jake should of stood his ground
my lil'grasshoppers!!!!
loved this guy in kingpin and zombieland funny guy lmao
I wanted to like this more than I do.
One of the coolest guitar riffs ever begins in 1.58.
Very good guitar
What a bunch of haters..this thing was captured with a phone..what does it matter how these guys look? how many of you are good enough to play at this level?
I don’t know who these other clowns are but that singer’s amazing.
j'aime ça
another monster !!
After Randy Rhoads, He remains the top guitarist Ozzy ever Had. This band actually's abslolutely under his amazing level. He actually deserves a better contest to play with. Hope one day he could join Ozzy again. It'd be a dream.
I didn't know Johnny Depp's stunt double played bass.
Man, that right hand looks like the wings of a hummingbird. If you could see them.
I really love the bass player, he could play for Jake E. Lee, Jennifer Lopez, One Direction, Cradle of Filth or whoever requires someone to hang out! Jake my heroe, forever!
good to catch up on this guitar player always no matter circumstance
Just think 30 years had passed since Jake played this song on the stage with OZZY.
Rough but respectable live performance
That was tasty!!!
This drummer is killing this song!!! That’s what’s throwing everything off! Not keeping a consistent beat it sucks really!!
JAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!!! \m/
never realized how far back on the bridge Jake picks, no wonder his strat has no front volume knob .
he has an unmistakable ripping attack for sure
Bark at the Moon
That singer looks like Jeff Loomis.
far from it
i wonder who is that fat slut who cannot sing?
yesss he does
I need a beer or 20...
Jake the best Ozzy Axeman to date.
jake e lee please be back med greg c !!!
5:10; quoting Jimi's 'House Burning Down', or am I reading too much into it?

the vocal used to play lead guitar for megadeth, his name is chris boderwick
No, no, no, … (I assume you’re kidding. I can see some dumb-ass believing that.)
LOOOOL!!!!!!
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O-ho-ho!
If that is chris boderwick, which its not, but if it was then he should have gotten on guitar instead of Jake. Then the guitar on this version of bark at the moon would have sound so much better lol
Hey yeah bark at the 🌕
JAKE NEEDS TO GET BACK WITH OZZY !!!!!
that want happen ozzy and sharon hate jake
MrCROW111286 shit!!! why??
Mike Meyers No way Gus G is awesome!
legatou Jake was barred from a Black Sabbath show because he broke silence on what actually happened during the recording/contract signing for 'Bark At The Moon' and is not on speaking terms with the Osbourne camp - he wrote a large majority of the music on that record with Bob Daisley. He could've been sued for talking about it publicly, because the contract prohibited him to talk about it, but it basically said he had no rights to songwriting or publishing and if he didn't like it, he could go home and sue them.
In short, he made Ozzy and Sharon look bad because he came out and told the truth - something fans wanted to know. It was kept buried for over 30 years, apart from when Ozzy admitted he had more input than what was originally recognized, but that didn't happen until the mid-late 90s. They also fired Jake for no good reason.
Check out the interview Jake did with Eddie Trunk recently, it's extremely eye-opening :)
If the first RDC had been an Ozzy album he would have put Ozzy back on top. Just like he did with bark at the moon and ultimate sin.
come on ... screaming during the beginning of the solo ??
The singer is Darren Smith, the drummer for Harem Scarem. Great singer, great drummer. I love Mr. Lee, but he sounds kinda tired here.
Note for note baby, only jakey 4:39
Jake may have come back from a seriously long-awaited hiatus, but his chops surely stayed retired. Jesus!
Yip Jake kicks" best for the Ozz!
