- I thought I'd try this rock 'n' roll classic in the key of G like Jerry Lee Lewis plays it, instead of the usual A. I play the Carl Perkins beginning (rather than the Elvis beginning).
'Blue Suede Shoes' was written and first recorded by Carl Perkins in 1955. It's considered one of the first rockabilly records, incorporating elements of blues, country and pop music of the time. Perkins' original version was on the Cashbox Best Selling Singles list for 16 weeks and spent two weeks in the number 2 position. Elvis Presley performed his version three different times on national television. It was also recorded by Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, ...and now me. - Hudba

Muy buena.......
Thanks very much!
That's a mighty good cover. Who taught you how to play this song?
Thanks very much Marc! I've spent a lot of time listening hard to those 1950s recordings and watching the originals play these songs - live when it was still possible, and later on video. The version I play here is kind my own invention for acoustic guitar, but it's based on Carl Perkins' original recording.
Great!
Thanks Marcos! 😊
Well, it's one for the money two for the show
Three to get ready now go, cat, go
But don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Well you can do anything but
Lay off of my blue suede shoes
Well, you can knock me down, step in my face
Slander my name all over the place
Do anything that you want to do
But uh-uh honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes
Now let's go cats (oh walk the dogs)
You can burn my house, steal my car
Drink my liquor from an old fruit-jar
Do anything that you want to do
But uh-uh baby, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes
Rock it
Well, it's one for the money, two for the show
Three to get ready now go, cat, go
But don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Well you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes
Go cat uh
Blue, blue suede shoes oh baby
Blue, blue suede shoes uh ha

Why don't you give tutorials? We shall thank you as long as We live.
I have uploaded several tutorials on my channel in which I teach the general techniques that can be used to play 1950s rock 'n' roll/rockabilly on acoustic guitar like this. Here's a link to a song sheet (containing the lyrics and chords I play) for this song which you can view or download from my songbook blog: jezquaylesongbookhome.files.wordpress.com/2018/12/Blue-Suede-Shoes-in-A.pdf
You ought to teach how to play these great songs mate
