Who knew all these years later a doctor would prescribe ketamine to treat what they call "treatment-resistant depression". I now have experienced the cloud-like feeling and appreciate the chorus more for basically painting the exact feeling.

i was in high school, sophomore 2005 or junior year 2006, and when i first heard this album and this song especially - it couldn't stop reminding me of the movie KIDS. it probably came out around the time the movie came out in theaters too.
Afraid you're about ten years off the mark there...KIDS was released in '95. Doesn't make your point any less valid though...honestly I think of that movie when I hear this song too...good call!

This is about a trip while using Ketamine, better known as Special K. The song describes the feelings associated with taking the drug.
In 2001, Brian Molko shared two different interpretations of the tune : 1) “It’s comparing the rush with falling head over heels in love or being infatuated with someone and coming upon controlled substances of any kind. The moral of the story is what comes up must come down.” 2) “It’s about suicide rates going up on public holidays : Valentine’s Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve. All the lonely people get extremely depressed. It can be quite a dark period if you find yourself alone […]. It’s a song about desperation. It’s making the link between special days being spent with people that you love and if they’re not there, or if you don’t have anybody, it’s kind of a dark time.” 💜🎼💚
