• In this video we walk you through the procedure on installing SAFE and a Bailout (panic) button with the Spektrum 6250HX Flybarless Flight Controller. Follow along with Tom to learn how and get some tips and tricks along the way!
www.horizonhob...
The FC6250HX is a powerful flybarless helicopter stabilization system that features the latest AS3X and SAFE Stabilization technology to deliver an extremely user friendly and precise Helicopter flying experience. Ideal for 3D aerobatic, F3C Precision, and Scale helicopter models up to 700 size. Featuring a leading edge 6-axis M.E.M.S. inertial gyro, powerful and fast 32 bit ARM M4 Cortex processor and proprietary Advanced Adaptive Flight Control Algorithms, pilots will enjoy predictable and precise flight characteristics, excellent tail holding and rock-solid piro-compensation with the added security of assignable SAFE technology.
SAFE technology allows pilots to operate within user defined flight modes that automatically keep the model in a manageable attitude and constantly levels the model when the control sticks are returned to center. Additionally, pilots can use SAFE technology to utilize a Panic Recovery option, which will nearly instantly right the model into an upright and controllable attitude to within 4 degrees of level. All these features are completely setup and tuned straight from your compatible Spektrum transmitter via Forward Programming Menu.
Forward Programming allows pilots to easily setup, program, and tune the FC6250HX with no need for extra hardware, devices, or computers. Pilots can quickly make tuning changes on the flight line to the swashplate, tail rotor, SAFE stability, flight modes and more, right from their compatible Spektrum transmitter. And if the sensor needs calibrated after a crash or repair to your model, it can easily be done in the Forward Programming menu. And if there is ever any advancement or changes to the FC6250HX, updating is simple with the Spektrum USB Programmer and PC programmer application.

Try GER to GER instead of GER to GYR and ensure your GYRO is set to your gear channel in channel assign menu. I had the same issue and found this solution on a FB forum.

With all the questions already on these few points only, I really wonder why Horizon/Spektrum does not offer a working setup to download with the Spektrum Programmer Software, exaxtly how it was made for example for the Blade 330S and Fusion 360 (together with working Spektrum-Radio-Settings for the different Radios, just like with almost all other helicopters and models). It would be so helpful as it works amazingly with the other models like the Fusion 360 where there was a Bailout-Update.

It can depend on the model and pilot skill. The Hover setting essentially helps alleviate tip overs during take off. Set it to the throttle value that you feel gets the heli well into the air in normal mode and it should work correctly.

Looking for some help! Acquired a Blade Fusion 360 smart (on 3s) a few months ago and just had an opportunity to do the transmitter set up etc ( I am using a DX6e). Did all l the stock settings (as per the manual). In Flight Mode setup, I assign switch B (top left) as my flight mode switch. In Channel Assign, when I look at Rx port assignments, I see 5 GEAR: Gyro - is that right? Then on Input Config, I see 5 Gear: B - is this right?
Am used to having 3 flight modes with my 230S V2 where the gyro settings linked to switch B are: position 0 at 100%, position 1 is 0 and position 1 is +100%. A chap at Horizon Hobby advised 'The gear channel out put only controls which SAFE mode helicopter is in. When its receiver sees 100% in put on ch5 it goes into self level, when it sees centre or 0% it goes into intermediate, and when it sees -100 it goes into advanced mode which turns SAFE off'.
I want to replicate that with the 360 - can I/should do it?
Also, when I initialise, there is a constant high-pitched humming noise coming from the FBL controller - is that normal?
I get a flashing green light to start with but this changes to blue flashing when I go into forward programming - does that sound right?
Hope someone can help me with the above - I would be most grateful. Thank you

• @SpektrumRCvideos
@SpektrumRCvideos  Před 2 lety

Hi Robin, For the most part that all sounds correct, EXPECT in the channel assign menu make sure that Gear is set to FMODE, not the B switch. This is different then the 230 S V2. If that is set to B the flight modes will not work propperly. That should do it. Also the humming you are hearing is likely the servos, which is normal.

If I go into forward programming safe mode and turn it on it's always on in every mode it won't let me pick between normal mode flight mode 1 or flight mode 2? Everything else seems to be functioning correctly though. Like if I bump it up to idle up 1 or idle up 2 and try to do a flip or a roll the stability mode is still on so it won't let me. But when I'm in forward programming and try to switch between flight modes it's always in Normal?

@@SpektrumRCvideos ☠BLACK BARON☠ I checked "Stability ON" mode today. The algorithm is much better than in the "Throttle/Hover" forward programming mode to keep it stable near ground. However the FC has still problems on the tail blades to find the correct position before liftoff. It's too much right turn as I have tested out several times on a test flight field.

I have a DX9 & a Spektrum 6250H gyro in an Align 550 DFC. I have preformed the setup by the videos. It hovers just fine except in the safe mode if I release the cyclic stick the heli drifts right & forward. More to the right than forward. Where & how do I adjust for this?

• @SpektrumRCvideos
@SpektrumRCvideos  Před 3 lety

Hi Roger, First I would suggest doing a sensor calibration. Test afterward. If it still drifts, then I would double check your swashplate for being precisely level. Also make sure there is nothing causing vibration, such as blades being out of track. Hope this helps steer you into the right direction!

@@SpektrumRCvideos Yes I re-calibrated it & it stopped the drifting. Next thing is I flew a large circle & when it was on the backside of the circle I was having trouble seeing it, so I turned it nose in & pushed both sticks forward to bring it straight to me, however it seemed like it just sat there & hovered. It did not appear to be heading to me. I turned it around to tail in & pulled back on the elevator & it felt the same like my pitch rate was way limited. I then turned it sideways & it flew in to me side ways ok. In the Safe Mode (normal) I have the envelope set at 45 & I thought that was for pitch & roll? Is there something I need to set separately for the pitch?

@SpektrumRCvideos  Před 3 lety

@@rogercirelli7408 No they are combined. But that does lead me to think that you are running out of date firmware. There was a fix a while back to correct an error where the envelope setting was stuck to the same envelope applied to Panic (which is very limited)

How can you set this up on a dx6 .. there is no aux 2 ?

• @SpektrumRCvideos
@SpektrumRCvideos  Před 3 lety

You can use any channel that is available to you. Even gear (CH5) . You will just have to remove gear from the gain channel and adjust tail gains primarily in the forward programming menu. Remember, tail gains can change drastically depending on head speed and model size. so it is really important that you get the tail holding well in every mode, so try not to neglect this part.

At 11:46 Tom stated that the roll attitude trim of 450 was essentially 45 degrees. That does not make any sense, because it isn't practical.
Is it 4.5 degrees?
Helicopters typically hover with one skid lower than the other, but it isn't at 45 degrees.
4.5 degrees sounds more realistic to balance forces.
Where is the written documentation?

I can't manage to establish a stable nose right and especially a nose left turn in hover mode and outside the hover offset range on my heli. It's always slightly drifting in roll/pitch directions. The SAFE gain + SAFE Envelope value is a real trouble shooter for establishing absolut stable nose left and right turns.
