Satyajit Ray was the script writer of fhe film and not the director. It was directed by Nitayananda Dutta. People here refering this as a Ray film is mistaken.
M Ch Films heavily depend on the script. Since Ray wrote it you can find trace of Ray in it. However I agree to some extent that Ray gave his quality input to the director which obviously helped him immensely.

U can find most of the movies of Ray with English subtitle. 2ndly Bhibhutibhusan Banerjee wrote this story. He is one of the greatest novelist and short story writer of Bengal and India. Many great movies are made from his novels. Wikipedia will help u with this n u can even read his works in english french n many other languages as they are translated. thanks for ur interest :-)

He understands bengali when someone speaks in very slow pace. But while watching a movie, it is not possible. So to enjoy a wonderful movie and make him feel as good as I felt when I watched it for the first time, I requested english subtitles to this movie.
