I actually held onto my mum's last fall and they looked dead until spring when they put out new growth. I trimmed all of the dead limbs and they bushed out and bloomed nicely all summer.

Bit late replying but wow, I bet its amazing!! So much character in older homes. We built our home and there's no way we would have been allowed to build something like Lauren's house (I'm in Ireland). You can get planning for a modern box no problem but ask for something more traditional and it's so hard

I live how you decorate for the seasons. I also love to decorate, and I will definitely get ideas from you. I live in Florida and I have to hose down my front porch at least every other week. It is very dusty/sandy here. I love your mums. I always decorate my front porch for fall with mums and pumpkins. It adds a pop of beautiful color!

Out of calamity comes a clean opportunity for creativity! I don’t use mums as they not only require lots of water, but deadheading often. I use lantana, zinnias & other colorful plants such as ornamental cabbages. Some transition to Christmas.Note: Spray paint lanterns black again, continuity with rockers and urns. Spray your urns also to freshen them. Maybe votives along the porch side wall, too, would be interesting for your evenings on the porch.
Ohh I love the idea of votives! I hope to spray paint the lanterns tomorrow BUT it has been super windy.
Go with your instincts, Lauren.You have a real eye for scale, balance, &textures, all of which is necessary to make color pleasing. I applaud your ability to pull a scene and theme together, ie., an apple harvest. Apple pie served for dessert would be delicious!

Hi Lauren! We have a wrap around porch Lshaped. We power wash it every spring, house, floor, and ceiling. And also all of our furniture. Since we live in IN. we put all of our furniture away before it gets super cold. I do decorate with mums for fall in my large pots! Instead of sweeping my porch with a broom, I use the blower a couple times a week as needed. We have alot of furniture; rockers, swing, couch, chairs, coffee table. On the side of the porch is my dining area with table (we made), 8 chairs, hutch (we made) and old porcelin stove! Our porch is our Happy Place! Thank you for your fall decorating videos...Love all your decor!
My husband uses a blower all the time up here (unless I have my decor up) and it’s great! Wish I could see your porch - it’s sound amazing!
I too live in California and we had fires nearby. We too were bathed by a thick layer of ashes. I power washed my front and back porch as well as all exterior windows. Once again we have lots of smoke this week but I haven’t seen rain ashes like last time.
Its been unreal this year.. I pray that the worst is behind us! My heart breaks for our state.

Yes I use mums. My favorite area is around my front door. Though not covered they do well. I’ve been told and I’ve seen on a garden channel that it’s best to pick mums NOT already bloomed but rather with buds that way you can keep them longer.
You asked what we use to clean the porch and I am just now having a porch built after being here for 6 years of having this house and I could not be more excited!!!

I clean the front porch seasonally and the screened porch every week. I run the sweeper on it. It is so sad to think the ash is coming from peoples homes. My heart goes out to them.

I’m in Northern CA too and it’s just terrible! I’ve had to go clean off my decor daily it’s so sad to think about all the devastation. Definitely giving it a good pressure wash before I decorate for Halloween! Love how everything came out it’s so cozy! ✨

I clean my porch and patio once a week. It's part of my "To Do List". I don't use our pressure washer. I find it more satisfying wiping everything down. We have tiles on our front and back area so I mop. As for mums I'm not buying real ones this year. I kill them 😳. I bought a whole bunch of artificial ones from Hobby Lobby and used those this year. I'm a cheater lol. Everything turned out beautiful as usual. Thank you for sharing.

I clean my porches seasonally and as needed. Pressure wash occasionally. I think I would have tried the leaf blower to blow that ash out into the yard. One of my kids vacuumed up ash one time and it ruined my vacuum. But it was a lot of ash. The porch looks awesome!🧡🍁💛🍂🧡

Spring when we put out our furniture and Fall when we put it all away are the 2 BIG Cleans... but over the summer, I usually wipe all the tables down every day... and whack out the cushions for sure, when company is coming over..
Lauren, you’re awesome! I love it all, but especially the black rockers. As a great grandma I have always had a rocker nearby to soothe my grandchildren and rock them to sleep.

Kgreat fall outfit ensemble faded denim and flannel it looks so good with a paler counterpiece. like a thermal ribbed long sleeve shirt . i'm ordering from LL bean again. YOUve become one of my favorites along with House of Valetina and Kylie Flavell. I find some similar odditie I had a cat Fabricio and decorating ideas some cooking techniques. I love to make broth. A house becomes a home when your family walks in and smells aromas greet them and the tummy makes them yell whens dinner!? I do have a Wolfgang now 22 . And the way your take care of things your house etc. my aunt estrella had me dust and clean her china and cabinet a gorgeous house. She took care of her things too ! I proudly wear her rings Uncle Clarence gave them to me she passed before a Christmas that was my present. You like to talk to your feather and/or fur family. I believe they get the gist of something we are saying. My fsther once sai sbou the deer she'll have them eating out of her hand ! Always complained animals like her! I dont know what sh does? Oh he lost his dog to me. Well just wanted t o tell you i love and appreciate this channel. Gotta go get my decor out too!

For many years we lived in San Diego, and I decorated my beautiful brick front porch for the seasons. 17 years ago we moved to Arizona, and I have a huge - 60' long - front porch. So I immediately started decorating it like I had in SD. Unfortunately, the wind here is awful, and would constantly blow all my decor off of my porch and into my neighbor's yard. On top of that, the porch faces west - it gets to be well over 100 degrees most days during the summer. And everything fades fast as a result. So I've sort of given up. Which is sad, because nothing welcomes you home like a beautiful porch - and yours is stunning! Thanks for sharing.

azwife35 I also have a porch that faces west. Vickerman is a company that makes artificial flowers, topiary, Christmas trees etc. they make UV topiary and flowers. I’ve had a topiary for three years now and it still looks new. Everything on my porch is from them. I can’t have real flowers as they burn up. Also, I have weighted my flower pots and other things with bricks and rocks so they won’t blow over. I hope this helps. Just google Vickerman to find their things!
