- Wala nang mas magpapasaya pa sa isang magulang kundi ang makitang nagtagumpay ang kanilang anak. Kaya ang dating PBA star na si Samboy Lim, pinilit na makadalo sa pagtatapos ng kanyang anak na summa cum laude kahit pa bedridden at mahina na ang kanyang katawan.

Touching. I graduated Civil Engineering from Mapua, on my rubber shoes, jeans, old polo shirt. Married young, separated young, and was hated for it. Graduation was, to say the least, just another day. I don't hate it, just empty and numb about it. Sat on a corner of PICC parking grounds far away from the crowds of classmates, graduates, and parents busy grooming and happy with the day. I'm not sad but furious of myself i couldn't graduate on the year I'm supposed to. Had to juggle work and the young married life with a kid. Who also couldn't come. And some years later also left me, for being a failure that i am cause i could only earn 8-10k a month compared to what my what my Chinese in-laws can give them. Somehow some parents caught eye on me and ask if I'm with anybody or if anybody is coming for me on my graduation. I said, "No one, they don't want to, i was a failure." Guess they felt the need to help me out with putting on my toga or share their cheers on me, or something. Two more families came to my me, ask me to join them. I said, "No I'm fine, I understand my failure, i deserve it." Always avoided images of graduations. I thought i was a failure, and graduations just some event to cap it all up. Some day I'm going enter school again for a graduates class, a masteral degree. Someday, somebody's going to be proud of me too, even if i am a failure. Or was one. It's a touching scene to see a man who could barely stay awake, still show how proud he is of his child on a graduation day. I've experienced otherwise, but choose to be stoic about it. Still hoping I'll have my "someday,"... maybe.
