    Venus was very bright last week in the early hours from about 0400 when I was up near Ulgham in Northumberland.Venus was coming up in the east and Jupiter (and Uranus) setting in the west.

    Pete pointed out the "Cheshire Cat" asterism years ago (in SKAN magazine ?) and once you've found it, it's pretty obvious in binoculars - well worth tracking down as one of those not particularly serious targets to show non-astronomers how to appreciate the slightly fainter night sky.

    Always an enjoyable survey each month, thanks! Just a correction - Tsuchinshan comets (there are several) are named for the Purple Mountain Observatory where they were discovered, not for the discoverer.
