Step down? No that would be an honorable way of letting him go. He should be fired as captain, again, for a second time, after being fired previously as well recently.
Babar has to gracefully accept the debacle of his team and resign on his own. The best way forward for him is to play in Pakistan team as a pure batsman.Taking a leaf out of Virat Kohli, he has to act as a senior pro and a statesman of Pakistan cricket. Pakistan should play more of 4 day and 5 day matches at domestic levels. School children must also be encouraged to play longer formats. Longer formats improve the skill of the players. West Indies and now Srilanka are facing problem because they are concentrating too much on shorter formats.
