Sure Ian is attractive but fans are dedicated to him for his video editing and music producing skills. He's such a genius story teller. I learned about him through his other video projects with other kpop artists like Taeyang and iKON Bobby. I'm jealous of those who knew him since C-Clown
Yeah fr, if someone ask me questions about Ian, my first answer won’t be that he’s hot (well he is obviously) but more about how an amazing artist/producer he is. And how that’s the first thing that made me listen and watch his music videos. And the lore dude..,,Oh my day, the lore of his whole discography is mind blowing!! I could spend hours and hours talking and analyzing every MV just for the lore.
He was my bias in C-Clown and I was so upset when they disbanded 😭😭😭

Don't Go Insane is definitely when you really see Ian's skills on bass shine. Coz yeah, he is actually a bass player.
DPR IAN's music is not k-pop, DPR Ian's music could best be described as a mix of R&B, hip-hop, and indie elements, with a dash of electronic and dream-pop textures. but apart from that I feel happy that they have reacted to their music and very good video, I loved it (this comment is without hate)
DPR is a collective group of independent artists DPR IAN he has a lot of lore Cristian Yu He suffers a bipolarity disorder and he try to reflect more or less his experience of living with this disorder through his videos is an audiovisual experience.Within his story there are a few characters like MITO and Mr. Insanity is about how these two characters try to take control over him and how they fight each other to control him it is also about how he himself fights against them and try to not lose himself and his individual identity. Im sorry i dont speak english so i hope you understand me 😭😭😭.I don't really know how the order of the story is going but the video that is about MITO is called SO BEUTIFUL and no blueberries.The ones that are about Mr. Insanity are peanut butter and tears, so i danced, and don't go insane. Facts would be usually we can see MITO in black and white also that he does not have an eye and has a ring with an eye on his left hand for example in No blueberries refers to the pills that Ian takes to treat his anxiety which is Valium is also usually called blueberries so when Ian takes his pills MITO disappears and the one who actually says that he doesn't like blueberries is MITO. MITO sees blueberries like a monster, as a threat. As for what each character represents, bipolar disorders are episodic first come the episodes of anxiety and depression that is MITO followed by maniac episodes that would be Mr. Insanity. Edit: the colorimetry is very important in ian videos because he assigned a representative color to each character. In MITO movie we can see the color that represents mito is red because red is the color that predominate in the video, in general we can see MITO in black and white but he representative color is red ❤. The representative color of Mr. Insanity is green and the representative color of Ian is believed to be blue because he mentions this tree colors in no blueberries.

I saw how you were respectful about how to talk about his DID and bipolar all im gonna say is that he is very vocal about his stuggles and his whole storyline is based on his highs and when he is dipping he goes into detail about it on the zach zang podcast i would recommend watching it if you are truly interested in getting to know him

Yes to all this. Ballroom extravaganza is my favorite song and then nerves. Both of those make me feel so many emotions. But with ballroom they would have to do the lyric video to get the entire experience.
I also don't understand why he isn't more popular. It's so hard to come across such unique and creative music acts nowardays let alone just in kpop. I'm glad he's making music, he's bringing some real quality artistry that this industry is somewhat lacking at the moment in my opinion.
Really hope that you guys will do a 2nd reaction to DPR Ian bc he has SO many great song with insane MVS. The only negative point that DPR Ian has is that he has the vibe of a f*ckboy, otherwise every single songs he release are little masterpieces. I just LOVE how he plays and distords his voices like...I guess many other artists did it before him...but it doesn't change that hearing his songs is just like eating candies, everything is just so generous. Same with huge videography. Everything is just pure candies for the ears and the eyes

Peanut Butter and Tears was my intro to ian and the dpr world, and I've been hooked since. Ian's music is imbued with feelings that have a way to strike me like few other songs do
In my opinion, dpr ian is one of the best artist. The songs are so good that even when the rhythm changes suddenly, you don't feel strange, that's so unique, the way he conveys emotions in every video, it's so good to watch and listen. He and the other DPR members are incredible. 🤍😣

I am always torn between feeling for him because of his mental health issues and feeling he has done so much creatively because of it. Ian is both a wicked Genius and the nicest Guy you'll ever meet. Ian said he can't really make music abt the things that can't relate to or never experienced his music is literally coming from his soul and all the emotions he's feeling irl that is why it hit so hard even if you don't know anything abt his lore he delivers those feelings so well sonically & visually. Im sure if you only knew abt the lore and all the details that he puts in his music & videos you would have given him a full score or maybe even more 😅

DPR Ian never disappoints, all the albuns are amazing, he is amazing to push us deep into his rabbit hole, he is such a great artist, as a musician, singer, producer, director, actor, the man has it all, I feel sorry for the people that only see his looks, because his mind is fascinating!
The video of "Beautiful" is the first time fans saw MITO on screen; it was also the first time the DPR crew worked with him. MITO is one of Ian's alternates personalities. Mr Insanity is another. MITO is comes through when he is in the down part of his bipolar; Mr Insanity is the personality that fronts when he is in a manic state. When the "Beautiful" MV is in B&W, you are seeing MITO, not Ian.
Also, Ian recently directed an MV for IU (K-Pop idol).

“Sonic journey” THANK YOU for saying that. My habit on his release days is to put headphones on and sit in bed and listen all the way through. Lyrically he’s telling a story obviously, but the music itself in a way tells its own story. This isn’t “kpop” at all to me, this is an extremely raw and vulnerable look into someone’s mind. It’s just art in every aspect, and as someone who has seriously struggled with mental health and expressing how it makes me feel pretty much my whole life, I sincerely appreciate all of the hard work he does.

DPR stands for Dream Perfect Regime, which is the company name. Other notable artists to check out would be DPR Live or DPR Artic, for example. Each artist adopts the DPR acronym in front of their artist name.
MITO stands for Mood Swings In This Order / Mood Swings In to Order- which are both albums by Ian and MITO is a character that Ian created to represent his experiences with bipolar disorder, I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong, since I have been a casual listener for a while and I am not very familiar with everything.

He goes in depth about his struggles with DID and Bipolar, his inspiration for his music and visual concepts, explains his other "personality's (aka MITO, Mr. INSANITY, HYBRID)", what they look like, and where you can actually see them in the music videos.

let me tell you something, i was originally a k-pop hater too but now i'm a huuuge fan of him. i'm part of this fandom called DREAMers and the people are actually quite nice. idk if Christian Yu/DPR IAN categorize himself as a K-Pop singer, though. I think his group was originally in the KHHRNB genre? But he definitely said that the group is a multi-genre, so... either way his work are masterpieces and musics are just legit beautiful. you guys should definitely check out his newest drop: SAINT MV on their youtube channel!

i love dpr ian, definitely one of my favorite korean artists. i first listened to his song no blueberries ft dpr live and man was that an experience lol (it’s the song playing at the end of the so beautiful mv) i’ve been a fan since then which was in like 2021 i think. my favorite album of his is moodswings in to order.

The storyline of his music videos is intricately connected, creating a unique universe called "the other side."

Ian
The og or the "host" (kinda like the default persona). He is the who is depicted as being abducted in "1 shot".
Mito
Ian's alter, often depicted as the villain while his actual role is "the protector", Mito is characterized by a single eye and is often dressed in black, appearing in black and white scenes. He represents Ian's low and depressive episodes.
Mr. Insanity
Another alter, frequently seen in colorful and sparkly clothing with a clown-like demeanor, as in the video for "Seraph." He embodies Ian's manic high episodes.

Haha, I think once people see him they think that people like him only for his looks (which are fire ofc), but yeah, definitely far from the full reason. His vocal ability and colour, acting ability/expression, dancing ability, creativity, editing, producing, songwriting etc... he's so underknown and underappreciated for everything that is amazing about him.
One thing I love about Ian is that he can do different musical styles for each song yet each one is cohesive with one another especially when quite literally different people are writing. It’s just amazing to hear and see how his story unfolds. Btw he is very vocal about his DID and Bipolar Disorder since he writes what he experiences and his story line is about his alters (Mito, Mr. Insanity, Hybrid & himself as Ian)
