Little kittens like this were sold down by the beach in Santa Monica, California, in the 1950s. They stood inside of small, half-open clam shells. I bought one, begged some pipe cleaners from a friend of my mother, and figured out how to do it myself. I was so proud of myself. Such an old and cute art form. Thanks for keeping it alive.

I was onboard with the pipecleaners, the dental floss (?) whiskers, covering the bits with pip cleaner fluff, etc. though it wouldn't have been "easy" but those eyes! I've never worked with resin, don't have any idea how it works, don't have that resin light/cooker or whatever it is plus all the paints, glitter and layering that needed to be done for 2 teeny eyes ... went from being hard but possibly doable to ...nope not gonna buy all that stuff and spend all that time for 2 itty bitty eyes.

I like how since it’s a pipe cleaner and the metal part is sharp, the kitty also technically has claws. They’re just always out and really tiny.

I like to make things with pipecleaners like bracelets, keyrings, and little shapes that my cat likes to play fetch with. I even made a spider when I was little. But all my crafts are nothing compared to this. I don't know how she does this.
I love how the cat looks both delicatly made by a master yet still has a level of childlike charm of a kid's craft project, its so cute❤
