- I'm in TUSCANY! Continuing our Italy adventures, we spent 4 days staying in Florence and visiting the surrounding regions. We went to Chianti to tour vineyards & drink wine, tried Florentine steak, found a secret bar, and learned how to make pizza and gelato at a cooking class on the outskirts of the city. Thanks for being real about how you feel and how you're doing, that's part of traveling and life in general and I assume a lot of people, myself included, can relate to it. My luggage recently got lost and when it actually happened I was super relaxed 😄the suitcase was found and delivered to my door the next day, no problem at all. I like this quote: “If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.”

Morgan, I can completely relate to the anxiety of getting sick, and losing luggage, and really anything going wrong when traveling because there is a ripple effect! I had a few mini freak outs on my most recent international trip. I think what you said about recognizing when it’s something that’s out of your control is key
Thank you! I feel like I normally handle the out of control things better, but w/ not being home in my ~calm controlled~ circumstances for months I feel like I haven't fully returned to a peaceful state where I can handle those things better. Idk if that makes sense. The anxiety just builds without returning to my normal low stress levels
That is what life is all about isnt it. Losing luggage is part of why youre travelling. Youll get new and better luggage.
Also...without this being begative in any way, I think europeans travel a lot more international and are just accustomed to it.

That’s totally normal to have anxiety on such a long trip! 😊 you’re abroad and everything is unusual - so try to be kind to yourself
Also there will be unexpected things happen! That’s inevitable and as you said, not in your control
Just give your best and go with the flow 🥰

If you ever head back to Florence make sure you have a nice sunset watch at piazzale del michengelo it’s got views of the entire city and live music. Very beautiful, just a steepish hike up!
I wanted to do that! We originally were going to go after the cooking class but then we were so hot already we couldn't do it and went home lol
We had dinner in that last restaurant you where in it was the best steak we have ever had, going back to Florence next month going try the zaza restaurant it is only 2 minutes from where we stay

I am so sorry your anxiety has been high! I’m the same totally the same way. And alcohol makes it worse for me 😭 but fresh air as many times as I need always helps! And sleep, but I know you said that’s been hard to come by haha.

What luggage did you bring around with you in Europe? Do you recommend this?
Taylor Wynn was recently in Florence and mentioned having similar issues with the smell but to the point her eyes were burning
You mentioned trouble sleeping, have you tried foam earplugs? They’re easy to get used to especially when you realize how much better you sleep.
I do have some but they don't block everything so I normally end up sleeping w/ headphones and blasting white noise

Unfortunately, the smell of sewage might be an issue in Florence in general. I stayed at a fairly new hotel a couple of years ago. It was gorgeous but it definitely smelled like sewage wafting in and out. Depending upon the time of day, it could be more pronounced. I think the heat causes a lot of the issue and Florence is simply not a modern city.
