That’s why Rio ain’t ever been a coach

Rio and Micah are playing it safe to not upset the players. You can see Alan and Gary are sitting there listening to Rio thinking what absolute waffle. Win the Euros playing like this? Cmon Rio. And I like Rio, but stop it. England look beatable at times.

The fact that no direct criticism of Gareth Southgate has yet to happen from pundits (who would rather criticize players who play in a totally different system at club level) says it all. The English FA have it all when it comes to making decisions that hold england back from progressing at major tournaments.

If Southgate starts Foden and Saka with Kane, after seeing the impact Cole Palmer made then we don’t deserve to win. This game is the last chance to make changes before the tougher teams. Change the tactics, it’s boring and ineffective

The major flaw is the system and style has been imposed to suit Kane, and it inhibits the pace and flair behind and slows the build up down to allow Kane to drift into midfield. Kane is not able to run in behind, but needs to stay high because the midfield is too congested and needs to leave space behind for the flair and pace. This led to the best move started with Gordon moving the ball directly, swiftly first time resulting in the chance for Cole Palmer .

Now the pundits are on Gareth side, saying this style can win the tournament. Make you mind up? One day you guys say one thing, and, on another day, you say the opposite! Just speak your truth -- you don't need to please Gareth!

Nope, Rio. If you keep playing this way you will find your end already in the upcoming matchup and it will look very similar to how Italy bowed out. Compare how England plays to how Switzerland and Germany played. Especially Switzerland was rock solid created easy chances and slices Italy up like it was nothing. Germany had a scary moment but otherwise also played good offensive minded football against a side that England was lucky to even draw against...

The problem is the level of opposition. In every tournament, as soon as England play a team on or above their level, they lose. The point of playing defensively is to give yourself a chance against better opposition, not grinding out draws against Denmark and Slovenia 😂.

On Talk Sport yesterday a caller said he drove with his son to Germany for the Denmark game and back again the next day. He was so disappointed with the display because of the time, effort, anticipation and cost. Look at the costumes and huge effort different countries make. They're fanatical. So it's not about grinding out results - it's a fans sport. A spectacle. England have some of the best players but are so boring to watch, people are switching off their TVs - they don't deserve to win it.

This argument is not valid to me; Greece won in 2004 with a team that is more than the sum of it's parts, but this England team has better players, top players, players who play well and are important for their clubs, and they need a manager that will utilize them correctly.

Great that these guys are saying this player and that player should start but no idea who they would leave out and what formation would work. Just sounds like fantasy football to them
